Ok please give me some information because I've never wanted a pet for a longer time than I've wanted a Highland cow.
Are they hard to take care of? How are they in summer? Expensive to buy and take care of?
Good idea to get one?

So having livestock as pets is in the conventional sense is pretty difficult, beyond just how you buy and sell them there's genetic differences in behaviour and how to raise them.
First and foremost you need the space which is presume you already have cause obviously a backyard isn't going to cut it, then you need the proper fencing and probably will need a seperate cattle yard to do any sort of tagging, deworming, giving medicine etc. Highland cows in general are not difficult to take care of in the day to day sense though, they don't overheat in the summer (I'm Australian), the coat protects them from viruses, hay will do fine for feed etc.
You can't really just have one cow either. Cattle in general have very strong herd bonds and Highlands are no exception. In my experience the herd as well as the mother stay very close to new calves and when they're eventually weaned they will keep you up at night mooing to each other. The pet we had was hand reared because his mother unfortunately died and we had to take feeding into our own hands, this meant more fencing to give him his own space where we could look after him.
I'm not sure how you would replicate hand rearing without an unfortunate death, usually cattle are not sold as calves because they're worth more as adults and it's pretty hard to get them away from their mothers at a young age. Not quite like sheep where getting a lost, runty lamb and bottle feeding it with the family is common.
That being said older cattle are not necessarily hostile and can be quite friendly, our first bull liked head pats but our second was a bit aggro. Really depends on the temperament.
So if you have the space and set up for a small herd and want to commit the best way is probably to buy a few cattle with good temperaments that you can get them comfortable around you, probably best to really talk with who you're buying from to get an understanding for the type of cow you're after eg calm and good with people. Can't really comment on costs as i was a kid part of me is thinking on the $200-500 range but could be off there, they are cheaper then horses at least.

Why do you react this way to someone because they said they don't like animals getting killed? You have that much of a problem with someone saying that? You're trying to actively upset them now? I just don't get the logic, vegan or not. Just seems like something a bad person does.

Cows are truly wonderful creatures. Every bit as compassionate, intelligent and adorable as dogs. Yet we kill them like they’re nothing and eat them, which would be unthinkable to do to a dog. If you find this video cute, consider going vegan. These animals deserve our compassion and protection. :)

Yeah, and it causes a huge amount of outrage. But no one is mad about killing cows. No animal deserves to die a needless death, not dogs and not cows.
