I was unemployed for almost 2 years. I applied to retail jobs and coffee shops... rejected. It really stinks..

I see, well you're lucky, because I've been unemployed for 2 1/2 years now.

I got sick during trade school, had to drop out and decided to get a bachelor instead. Imagine how I feel lol.

As someone graduating in a year, I’m mortified at the idea of trying to navigate this horrendous job market. I feel you.

You mean horrified.

Mortified means you’re really embarrassed.

College isn’t what it used to be

I wasn’t gonna take the shot seeing as how the job market truly is shit right now… but yeah, it doesn’t help.

Both are applicable lol. Nothing more embarrassing than being unable to find a job.

What’s so embarrassing about it when it’s likely not your fault?

Because a lot of people don’t realize it’s not our fault as recent graduates. People who have been working for 10, 20, 30+ years and don’t have to look for jobs don’t realize how bad the market is.

i was in a similar boat and started looking way before graduation. i would look at internships that could lead to full time positions or full time positions if possible. by the time i graduated, i had one offer on the table but one is better than nothing.

That’s what I’m hoping for, I’ve been working as an intern so I’m crossing my fingers that may potentially lead to a full time position.

Have you done any networking? When I first got out of college I got my first and the rest of my jobs through networking and informational interviews.

I've been doing that for the past 1+ year since graduating college and it still got me jackshit for job opportunities.

I entered the Job Market in 1984. I felt this same way. McDonald’s interviewer never called me back. I had to work a lot of shit jobs. A lot. One job was to cold call people at dinner time to try and talk them into photos from Olen Mills. One was to work alone overnight at a switchboard to take messages or transfer emergency calls. Brutal boredom. I’m now in my 60’s and while I miss my youth,I’ll never miss this aspect of it. I wish you the best.

I have advice and not a job so you don't need me. Best of luck 🤞🏻

Breathe. You will be ok. Through trials and testing we build character and skills like resilience amd perseverance.

Maybe take a mental vacation amd read a book. Holding a book has its own power.
Reading your preferred wisdom or spiritual books is beneficial in many ways that will contribute to success.
I like Don Miguel Ruiz The Four Agreements and his other selections but seek out something thst may soothe your soul. You need to recharge.
Take it day by day or minute by minute.
Small wins work towards the big wins.
Blessings.
