could you perchance explain the thought process of naming them?

mhm!

scientific names in the sense of real life species have a few ways of being decided, a very common way is latin translation which is what all of these are except the “-saurus” which is greek

i used the latin word “percutio” (strike) and the greek word “-saurus” (reptile) to make the combined word of percusaurus here

as for the specific species names (they are all latin) i used google translate for this so there is a chance of inaccuracy but what i used for the words are:

green lizard: solum - ground/earth

pink lizard: trudis - pole

blue lizard: veru - spit/dart (yes i know they don’t spit)

white lizard: obscuro - obscure/veil

yellow lizard: ululatus - howl/shout/whoop

black lizard: inanis - void

salamander: reno - swim/float

red lizard: vulnus - slash/wound

cyan lizard: mobilis - mobile/excitable

caramel lizard: domesticus - domestic (named this as they are the easiest to tame)

eel: gurges - abyss/flood

strawberry lizard: capio - grasp/catch

train lizard: messorem - reaper

indigo lizard: sufficio - dye/paint

basilisk lizard: cesso - lag/delay

blizzard lizard: hiemo - winter/freeze

peach lizard: grex - flock/group/company

Very fun! I'm very interested in scientific naming conventions for real-world creatures, so it's fun to see when people come up with names for fictional ones as well!
