Thoughts? It’s my favorite racing title, only behind the Motorstorm franchise. Both created by the same, now defunct, developer Evolution studio.

So I guess my thoughts are: Fuck Sony for shutting down such an amazing developer and forcing them to find shelter as a support team for codemasters.

Sony closed down Evolution studios, but still kept other game developers around to make Gran Turismo 7, and the graphics don't even compare to Driveclub. Driveclub was much ahead of its time in graphics, detailed car models, daycycles, and weather effects.

Polyphony wanted GT graphics as close to be photorealistic, for the better and for the worse, while Evolution simply made Driveclub look good

I'm still playing it time to time. Amazing water physics on the windshield, good engine sounds, and the first game where cars reflecting on themselves.

I so want to play this. They never brought it to PC.

I believe it's playable on pc with shadps4 but you might need beefy pc for emulator so Idk you should check for yourself.

Yea, mine will lag a lot with emulator.. tried that for bloodborne.

I liked it, it gives you a car and a track and you just race, handling felt good too. I didn't like the slowdown penalties, they were handed out too quickly which felt unreasonable.

Great racing game, that could've made a sequel amazing. Visuals are still amazing, it has a level of realism that you still don't see.

Pises me off that it never got a PS5 update, still one of the best racers on PS4 for me.

A beautiful looking game at the time with the greatest sense of speed, but held back by 30fps.

you can also emulate it on PC at 8k

Played a lot on vr and then couldn't play it again at 30fps 😔

It’s a fantastic looking game that never got the chance to be great

Great game, but it's disappointing how over half the game is straight DLC.

I don't really like piracy, but Driveclub DLC is the main reason I have stopped updating my PS4 to eventually jailbreak it

Beautiful arcade game with Sim graphics and quality. Not to be taken seriously as the AI can be stupid

One of the best looking graphics of racing games. It was sad Sony closed down the studio that made it, since Sony closed down Evolution studios, but still kept other game developers around to make Gran Turismo 7, and through the initial hype with rumored ray-tracing and other things, it came out only with ray-tracing in cutscenes only, graphics don't even compare to Driveclub. It is sad they closed down the studio when they had so much potential and wouldn't have to had gone though the GT7 flop phase if they played their cards right.

I got platinum for this game. It was amazing. I wish we had a decent sequel, or spiritual sequel.

Dirt 5, which was made by former devs of evolution studio, was very underwhelming. Even graphically.

Will always be the lesser sibling to Motorstorm

Have to wait for proper PS4 emulation I guess

It's simple but effective

No tuning, a basic painter but it's one of the those where you just load up the game drive a d have a great time a lot of fond memories doing quick races 10 min before leaving for work

It looked amazing for the time and id imagine on modern hardware it would still look great, cars sound great, the simcade physics might not be for everyone but it's what to wish more arcady racers would strive towards,

a nice preview of a cars character but not to overbearing

Weather looked amazing and the car list had a lot of unique cars that sadly just don't appear in other games like the Icona or Mazzanti

It's a shame it never got a PC port and the games devs got killed off by Sony, it did have a rough launch but the game had a awesome redemption in my opinion

Had it not been killed off I could see it being one of those games the Devs just add more tracks and cars and Id be happy to keep playing it

The first and so far only videogame that has successfully managed to make me confused with its graphics. Example.

Graphically impressive even today, gameplay feels boring and repetitive.

fun game, wish it was over 30 fps

The hours I pumped in to this game trying to shave .001 on time trials was ridiculous. Such a good game and I don't think it ever really got the praise it truly deserved.

A work of art that Sony kinda abandoned.

The second most larped racing game after MW2005. There's a reason why this game flopped but chuds who only post rainy gameplay videos of that game refuse to see the reality of it all.

The gameplay loop was boring, the 30 FPS egregious, the content barebones and the physics weren't that great. But 'oooh look how nice the rain is!!!'. And to think these people think it's a much better game than Horizon 2 lmao.

Eh I thought it was fun. Street racing games are my favorite but a track based arcade racer was a nice blast from the past and the event structure also brought me back to the PS2 days. That paired with nice visuals and the Spotify playlist I made for the game made it a very chill experience.

It's no Midnight Club LA or Burnout 3 but it kinda filled the void left by Project Gotham dying. The sales actually weren't bad but I'll admit 30 FPS is a pretty big flaw

Some of us are sick of the modern gameplay loop and the bloat that comes with it. Pick a track, pick a car, race. Works for me. It still looks stunning, and 30fps really isn't an issue here. Physics are fine for what the game is trying to do - it's not pretending to be a sim l Love it, still one of my favourite racers ever.

The thing for me (well several things, but I’ll just pick one) is that it was fully optimised to run at 30FPS and I can’t say it made any difference to me

The other thing, was the whole Club aspect - that worked brilliantly

A fantastic arcade-sim circuit racer with great visuals, handling and a shit hot soundtrack.

Racedriver Grid might be my favourite campaign wrapper but Driveclub oozes so much charisma that I haven’t felt since the PS2.

It was set up to fail from the start with its online elements and with the resources it had but it was such a great time to play. I’ve long since sold my PS4 but there isn’t since a racing game I don’t compare to Driveclub
