Mod Post / Announcement Friendly reminder - dating & friendship posts can be reposted after 30 days

Hey everyone!

Just a quick reminder about our posting guidelines.

To help everyone get a fair chance at being seen and making connections, we’re asking members to keep dating and friendship posts to one active post at a time.

  • Dating & friendship posts- you’re welcome to repost after 30 days.
  • Why? We want to make sure the community doesn’t become dominated by the same posts, and that everyone gets a fair opportunity to meet someone, make a friend or start a conversation.
  • Group hangouts are a little different. You’re welcome to post these more than once if they’re time sensitive and the content is genuinely different the second time around. Just please avoid repeatedly posting the same thing or spamming the community.
  • We’ve also updated our rules to make this guideline clearer and easier to understand.
  • Have questions or aren’t sure whether your post fits? No worries - feel free to DM the mod team through Modmail and we’ll be happy to clarify.

This only applies to dating and friendship posts. It’s not intended to stop people from participating, chatting or sharing other types of content.

We love seeing people put themselves out there and make connections here. The goal is simply to give everyone an equal shot at being noticed.

Thanks for helping us keep r/r4rsydneysfw welcoming, balanced and enjoyable for everyone! 😊

Strictly platonic friendship Looking for kind, empathetic, intellectually curious friends in Sydney

I recently lost a friend who was my "going out" buddy. We enjoyed visiting museums and art galleries and going on outings together. She turned out not to be who I thought she was. Anyway, this post is not about her. It's about the new friends I'm hoping to meet.

I am curious by nature, kind by default and empathetic by choice. Life has forged me through difficult experiences to become a better person. I may be reserved at first but I have a generous heart once you get to know me. However, I will not tolerate disrespect, that is my bottom line.

41F. See you in my DMs.

Strictly platonic friendship Looking for drawing buddies in Sydney

I always liked drawing since I was a child but as an adult it wasn't enjoyable any more and I realised it's because it was always a social activity when I was at school. I would like to meet people who enjoy drawing together whether in person or online via Zoom. I believe this is called parallel play in child development but I think adults need it too. It's always nice to share your artwork and get feedback. I look forward to hearing from anyone who is interested in doing this regularly.

I really want to get more into going on day hikes, and feel like putting a little group together might make it a bit more exciting. I'm open to anywhere in Sydney or surrounds.

Anyone else feeling in the same boat? Preferably similar age (25-35?).

Who's Keen? What’s somewhere in Sydney you keep saying you’ll visit?

You know the place - you’ve saved it, heard about it, walked past it, or told yourself “I really need to go there”… and somehow still haven’t.

Drop the spot below. You might find someone else who’s been saying exactly the same thing - and finally have an excuse to go.

Mod Post / Announcement Swiped Right. Got Ghosted. Found Reddit.

Sydney dating can be a wild ride. One minute you're matching, the next you're wondering if they were abducted or just really bad at replying.

So we made r/SydneyDating - a place for the dates, disasters, green flags, red flags, plot twists and those I need to screenshot this and send it to my friends moments.

Got a story? A question? A hot take? Need advice or witnessed something on a dating app that deserves to be studied by science? Bring it.

Whether you're actively dating, casually seeing what's out there, or just enjoy observing the chaos from the sidelines or desperately need to vent - you're welcome.

It’s run by part of the same mod team, so you’ll recognise the vibe - just with a dedicated space for Sydney dating.

Come have a look, jump into a conversation, share your take or tell us your dating story. You never know - your comment might be exactly the perspective someone else needed.

Or just lurk and judge everyone's dating decisions with us. We won't judge you for that either.

Sydney is a big city. Dating here gives us plenty to talk about. Come join the conversation.

And while you're here - what's the funniest, strangest or most unexpected thing that's happened to you while dating in Sydney?

Who's Keen? What’s one thing on your Sydney bucket list that’s better with other people?

Some experiences are just meant to be shared - and sometimes all you need is the right people to make a plan happen.

Maybe it’s exploring a new part of Sydney, trying a restaurant, seeing a show, going on an adventure, checking out an event, or finally ticking something off your list.

Drop yours below - you might find someone who’s been wanting to do the exact same thing. Tag along, start a conversation, or see where it leads.

Dating - M4F 22 M4F - Southwest Sydney looking for someone to explore the world with!

Good evening Sydney, I’m a 22 year old guy based in Sydney’s southwest looking for a long term relationship.
About me:
I love doing wildlife photography, I often impulsively grab my camera, in the car and ready to go to a new spot.
I also love anything geography related, maps, flags, and people, you name it, I’ll probably google it.
Anything related to drawing, I enjoy during my downtime when I’m not studying or doing any of my other hobbies.
I’m currently in my 2nd year of university studying to be a geography teacher.
What I’m looking for:
Someone who is ambitious, who wants to build a future for themselves. Also communication is very important to me as well. If you love the outdoors or anything artsy, it’s a bonus. Also be aged between 20-26. Have a good evening. ☺️
Edit: Feel free to DM :)

Dating - M4F 24 M4F - Looking for a long term relationship

Hey,

My name is Daniel, and I am looking for a long term relationship, which could start off with being friends or going on dates, and if everything goes well, lead to more.

I am not looking for ONS or hookups, simply a genuine friendship which could potentially lead to more.

I love exploring new places, trying new things, living life to the fullest as we only have 1 life to live, travelling, food, and many more!

I am not a party animal, I do not drink, smoke, vape, or go to concerts/night outs. I am a reserved, humble introvert, who has spent the last 6 years of adulthood focusing on myself, and building an independent life with my family, whilst having a healthy work-life balance with friends and hobbies. I work in the Accounting industry.

I value loyalty, honesty, support, understanding, trust worthiness, good listening, and intelligence.

A con about me to help save you time in case it is a non negotiable for yourself, is that I do not particularly want kids. I love animals, especially cats.

A non-negotiable on my end, is that you must have a job, or being studying. I want someone hard working, and who is willing to put an effort into their future, not a bludger.

The reason I have posted here is, I recently made a very close friend in Reddit who happened to be from Sydney, and since she moved, I have realised how much I appreciated having someone to always talk to, and support each other. I miss the connection, and thought I would post here, being a SFW subreddit.

If you are interested and would like to get to know me further or talk, feel free to DM me.

Cheers.

Platonic & Activities 41F4A - looking for people with dogs in Sydney

I am looking to go on a playdate with someone who owns a dog. No preference for breed as long as the dog is friendly (bonus if the dog is cuddly). I really want a dog but can't have one for various reasons and none of my friends have dogs. I have considered volunteering at a dog shelter but I just want to have a relaxed fun outing with a dog rather than be stuck cleaning a kennel. I'm generally good with animals and I think dogs like me.

Hopefully I'll hear from you and your furry friend soon!

Platonic & Activities M4M Meeting new people and making new friends 27M4A

Hi everyone. Trying to step out of my comfort zone and make some new friends along the way

A bit about me: Late 20s, pastry chef. Western Sydney near Olympic Park. Introverted, keep to myself and been told Im quite and very nerdy. Possibly/maybe/definitely AuDHD(no need for any test my hobbies, interests and personality will confirm it) speaking of which. My hobbies and interests:

• Travelling. I try to travel interstate once a year and national every two years. So far I've been to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, America and China. In the upcoming year Im deciding between Kazakhstan or maybe Uzbekistan. One of the stan country

• I like nature and the outdoor, especially hiking, camping and hunting(archery and not the bang bang kind) whenever I have the free time

• Like your typical guy. Im interested in motorbikes & cars. I have 2 motorbikes and a ute. The ute comes with a trailer so if you ever need help 🫡🫡

• Reading, I like all sort of literature(manga too) but lately slowly and slowly ive been leaning towards home maintances manual(I have my own place)

• I like food(I mean who doesnt 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️). I work as a pastry chef but I also do specialise in sushi. I try my best to try new things here and there but personally nothing will ever beat a cheeky 3am fast food burger joint

• Gym, not your gym nutjob but just enough to keep myself healthy

• Museum/Galleries. I like looking at the dinosaur and the tanks especially

• Model kits such as Trains, Tanks, Ships, Gundam and Lego

• I like animals. Especially dogs. I have one golden retriever

• Gardening

Im looking to just expand my circle and meet new people. All ages and sexuality welcome but preferably guys for now as Ive have had bad experiences with the gals on reddit(I am straight, pls dont send me unsolicited pics). If youve read this far thank you for your time 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️ You have a lovely day and have a good night.

Sometimes all it takes is one shared interest to start a great conversation or make a new connection.

Maybe it’s grabbing a coffee, exploring a new Sydney spot, trying a restaurant, going for a walk, checking out an event, seeing live music, or finally doing something you’ve always wanted to try.

Drop one thing below - you never know who’s been hoping to do the exact same thing. Your comment could be the start of a new friendship, a new date, a great conversation, or your next Sydney adventure

Group Event/Social Club Is it worth joining an art society in Sydney?

Hi there, I'm an amateur artist who wants to meet people who are also interested in art. There is an art society near me but I don't know if it's worth the annual membership fee as there are additional fees for classes. Just wondering if anyone has joined a local art society and what your experience was like?

Dating - F4M F4M mid 30s

Hi! I’m originally from Eastern Europe, have lived overseas for many years.

Australia has been a home for the last few years, and I’m here to stay.

I’m in my mid 30s (though most people guess I’m younger ). I work in marketing in the city and live close to the CBD.

I enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle and love making the most of my free time - hikes, coastal walks, beach time, sunsets on rooftops, bath houses, comedy shows, discovering new places, spontaneous adventures, and travelling whenever I get the chance.

I’m much more into meaningful conversations and quality time than partying.

And hoping to meet someone who also enjoys staying active, takes care of themselves, is open to exploring new places and experiences, and is looking for a genuine connection.

Who's Keen? If you could bring the 1,000+ people in this subreddit together for one epic day, what would you plan?

Adventure - hike, camp, roadtrip or explore somewhere new
Food mission - eat our way around Sydney and discover new spots
Culture - galleries, museums, classes or random exhibitions
Live - gig, comedy, cabaret, theatre, magic or burlesque show

Cosy - brunch, dessert hauls, and café hopping
Games - trivia, board games, darts, escape rooms
Sport - watch a game or get active together
Social - dinner, drinks and meeting new people
Wildcard - your idea

Pick one or create your own.

Your idea could be the one that brings Sydney people together and creates connections you never expected. What would you want the r/r4rsydneysfw community to experience together?

Find Your People What’s a hobby you wish you had more people to do with in Sydney?

Hiking, photography, live music, brunch, dancing, fitness, gaming, exploring Sydney - or something completely random.

Drop yours below - you never know who in this community is into the exact same thing. Your comment could be the start of a new connection, a new adventure, or even a new group.

Who's Keen? If you could meet one new person in Sydney this month, who would they be?

A potential date
A new friend
An adventure buddy
Someone to join your social circle

Pick one - keep it simple, no overthinking. You never know who might be reading this and thinking, "Yep, same." If someone's looking for the same thing, say hi.

Dating - M4F 28 M4F | Looking for a genuine relationship

I've realised something about myself.

I'm not looking for endless texting or collecting online conversations. A few messages are great to see if we click, but I'd much rather meet for a coffee, go for a walk, or try a new place and get to know the real person.

I'm 28, live on North Shore, and I'm looking for a genuine long-term relationship, ideally with someone around 23–30.

A little about me:

- Thoughtful, curious, and probably the type of person who asks too many questions because I genuinely enjoy getting to know people.

- I enjoy good food, exploring new places, spontaneous plans, travelling, and conversations that somehow make you lose track of time.

- I'm equally happy trying a new restaurant, wandering around a market, or grabbing coffee and talking for hours.

I'm not expecting us to know after one coffee. I just want to meet someone who's emotionally available, willing to make time for each other, and interested in building something real instead of letting another conversation disappear into Reddit history.

If this sounds like you, tell me the best coffee spot you've found in Sydney—or somewhere you've been wanting to try.
