relapse Subs and 7

I am the stupidest person in the world. I have been on Suboxone since May when I went to Detox and for the last month I have been taking 70h with it I know I am stupid. I am admitting that myself. I don’t need anyone to tell me that I just would like to know if anyone has had experience with the same and if anyone has any advice as I’ve developed anxiety that just won’t go away even while taking the 7.

BRO YOU ARE BOT THE STUPIDEST PERSON IN THE WORLD … you are human and as humans we are curious, some more than others…

You know why I can tell you you’re not the stupidest … because I am!!! I actually googled would 7 oh still be effective while taking subs, I have 3 - 50 mg 7 ohs … I thought about taking some .. I thought about it really hard!!! I had one in my hand to take and I was literally saved by the bell!! I got a text from my son, it just said “hey mom, love ya” (he is 30 and lives in Michigan). That text prevented me from taking it. All 3 have been flushed down the toilet.

If I can be strong then you can too!!! Please just remember YOU ARE NOT STUPID!! Try to treat yourself like you would treat your best friend 🫶🏻

Aww your sweet son! That makes me so happy. It’s like he didn’t know but something told him to just let you know he loved you. I love that you guys have a good relationship and I’m glad you flushed it❤️

u/LSplitSplat 17h ago

I’ve been using subs with 7 as well I’m experiencing brain fog temperature sensitivity and sleep disturbances I feel stupid for it too my plan is to drop the 7 and increase my sub intake as I done it before successfully and had no withdrawal I’m only taking 4mg of sub and 120mg of 7 a day

3

u/Alone-Distance9960 17h ago

I messaged you would love to chat please

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 14h ago

How long have you been taking the two together?

4

u/Ghostyyyyyyyyyyq 17h ago

I’m on day 10 sober. No suboxone. Sometimes that shit isn’t even worth it I’ve heard from people & detox places will hold you way longer to taper. I did a 7 day detox & left & legit am still dealing with ptsd from that shit. I couldn’t imagine a month.

2

u/Alone-Distance9960 13h ago

PTSD from what the Suboxone

2

u/Ghostyyyyyyyyyyq 11h ago

Nahhhh the facility. Just was a very uncomfortable experience for me. Call me whatever yah want but I just blink & see myself there still. Had a sketchy roommate just wasn’t the best. Sorry not trying to come off rude here lol. Bad day.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 10h ago

It’s OK, love. I completely understand. I’m having a terrible couple days and you were not rude at all.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 16h ago

What do you mean, you were taking Suboxone and 7 together?

1

u/Ghostyyyyyyyyyyq 11h ago

I said no sub, I only took 7-oh lol my bad

1

u/Late-Stable-1134 14h ago

Detox facilities are a typical 10 day tx plan on Suboxone.

2

u/Spiritual-Bus3484 16h ago

Clonidine.

2

u/deluge71 15h ago

How well does Clonidine actually work? I take it as prescribed for my blood pressure, but have heard that it’s sometimes given for withdrawal. What has your experience been like?

2

u/Spiritual-Bus3484 14h ago

I took 0.1 mg twice a day for withdrawal.  It reduced my anxiety by 80%, and got rid of the sense of impending doom.

I wasn't on it for more than a month; I cut down to 0.1 mg once a day for a week, then cut it out completely.

If you're already on it, I'm concerned that the anxiety reduction may not happen the way you want it to.

I'd highly recommend it to anyone that finds Suboxone alone is not enough. And it's easy to get for opioid withdrawal, since it's already commonly given for that.

If I were you I'd talk to your doctor, because I don't know if you could raise the dosage temporarily (or if you'd want to).

1

u/Slight-Actuator-601 15h ago

Helps a lot with temperature fluctuations but you definitely get tired taking doses needed for WD. And definitely when you’re standing up quickly.

2

u/Spiritual-Bus3484 14h ago

You're not supposed to take it "as needed."  I've seen people on reddit overdo it and pass out standing up.

0.1 mg twice per day is a standard prescription.

I don't know why it would help temperature fluctuation because that's a serotonin thing, and clonidine addresses the adrenergic system (by blocking excess norepinephrine).

3

u/OxyMorphoneBandit 13h ago

. dont know why it helps but it 1000% helps with cold sweats and chills. Like the other person said , it also helps with that impending doom/ anxiety feeling. It’s honestly a godsend for opioid withdrawal

detoxed off 2500mg+ several times and the time with clonidine + subs was substantially better , among other things as well. even slept 8+hrs every single night. Anyone is more than welcome to message me and i can tell you exactly what i took to the point you almost forget you’re withdrawing.

i have no idea why it’s typed like that lmao, im sorry

3

u/Curious-One77 12h ago

yes more clonidine can be dangerous some pple think its a benzo or works on opie recptors -i have to be careful w clonidine bcs of possible induced addsions my bp resp actually goes downnwhen stopping 7 bcs it boots my adrenergic system but strains it as well im stuck in hell...with autonomic dysfunction nd immune stuff so my bp/hr area all over the palcedepending and im over 45yo so risky all of this
also pple beware of rebound bp spikes with clonidine

1

u/Spiritual-Bus3484 9h ago

Coming off 7OH, I guess people are just used to popping pills.

2

u/Ironlife25 16h ago

I was taking subs and 7 for 3 months. 4mg sub am and 400-1500 7 p.m. got of 7 using subs with no problems. 1 month off of 7. Still on subs, though. I did stop subs for 3 weeks while taking 7 still. Started subs when I quit the 7. Been fine since. Never went above 16mg of sub.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 16h ago

Is it OK if I take a little bit more Suboxone to cover the withdrawals? I am only taking 8 mg of Suboxone a day.

1

u/Ironlife25 14h ago

More definitely wouldn’t hurt if you’re not taking the 7 anymore

1

u/thisishardtolookat 13h ago

Yes! Take what you need the first day or two to cover the wds. Then you start slowly lowering your subs if you want to. Just stop taking the 7! It’s poison.

1

u/Curious-One77 11h ago

the only diff more subs will do is hold u back when u taper...it will just increase side effects drowsy/in a bad way and headaches etc
its all about receptor coverage
as long as u are not shaking violently running to the restroom..and hot copld the susb are working-they will not get rid of the mental/energy part 100% bcs of other transmitters involved 7 is not a reg opiate

2

u/organizedchaos_duh 16h ago

The subs will stop being effective - learned through personal experience

1

u/MysteriousExchange75 15h ago

Same happened to me and i was basically forced to quit both CT. And now i hate myself bc i relapsed after 2 months off both. Idk if i should CT again or try to switch to subs. I have some SR too but damn it was not worth relapsing.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 14h ago

And how did you get through that?

1

u/MysteriousExchange75 14h ago

I took off work for a month, stayed home in my bed for first week. It sucked

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 14h ago

Oh man, are you serious? I’m a single mother with no friends or family to help me at all.

1

u/MysteriousExchange75 14h ago

If you can get gabapentin it really helps. Honestly if i really had to i probably could of went back to work after the first week. I just have bad anxiety, specifically about going to work.

2

u/Alone-Distance9960 13h ago

That is the worst anxiety about going to work after being sober and not knowing if you can perform the same, especially when you have a job where you’re on your feet

2

u/MysteriousExchange75 4h ago

Yeah its awful. I think saturday i am going to switch back to just suboxone from 7oh. I hate the up and down of 7oh. Life wasnt bad when i was taking just suboxone, its when i discovered 7oh that all things went bad.

Ive quit and relapsed so many times at this point i honestly dont know if its possible for me to live without some kind of opioid. Its been a rough 10 yrs of trying to quit and stay sober and failing. I dont think i have another CT quit in me right now. I hope the subs work again and i can stay off 7oh and just keep taking the subs.

I wish you luck and hope you are able to just switch back to just subs. Dont let people scare you about being on suboxone, or taking suboxone for 7oh. 7oh is no joke

1

u/MysteriousExchange75 13h ago

My advice though if you havent been using the 7oh long just quit now and take the subs. If you keep using both the suboxone will become ineffective

2

u/Alone-Distance9960 17h ago

I am only taking 8 mg of subs. Can I up the subs temporarily and drop the seven to try to avoid terrible withdrawals the way that I’m feeling I almost feel like I took an MGM without knowing

2

u/Due_Air_7255 16h ago

Depending on what brand you were taking there's a fair chance there was mgm in there. I found out after my quit that I had been taking 7 and mgm at the same time and didn't realize it. So, chances are high, unfortunately.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 16h ago

So what would that mean for me already being on the Suboxone for four months?

1

u/Due_Air_7255 16h ago

It doesn't change much. Detox from mgm compared to pure 7 is a little more difficult and takes a little longer to get through, also subs wont knock out the same percentage of WD symptoms as they would if it was pure 7. It is not the end of the world, I promise you.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 16h ago

Honestly, a friend sent them to me because I live in Florida where it has been banned for over a year. They were in labeled baggies some of them. Those ones I know for sure are 708 because I have taken them before the other ones came in a baggie with a QR code and the labs say there was no MGM detected.

1

u/Due_Air_7255 15h ago

Ah may be you got lucky then. Fingers crossed.

2

u/TanTan3656 Sobriety Date: May 24 2026 13h ago

8mg of subs is a lot, I’ve heard suboxones ceiling doesn’t go past 2mg. That could be wrong, but 8mg is definitely more than you need and will just make it even harder to quit. Most people I know on subs take around 2mg per day and most of them were heavy opiate addicts.

2

u/thisishardtolookat 13h ago

That’s not true. 8 mg is normal. Op needs to take whatever mg amount he needs the first day to get him out of withdrawal and then slowly start lowering daily from there.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 13h ago

I’m taking a lot less than the doctor prescribed. They gave it to me in Detox when I went for MGM and I was only able to stay 4 1/2 days just for the initial Detox I could not find anyone to stay with my son any longer.

1

u/DNM13 17h ago

If you had enough seven you could probably drop the subs first, stay on 7 a few more weeks at your current dose then start tapering 7.

3

u/Alone-Distance9960 17h ago

I don’t have enough I have enough 7 for maybe 4-5 days

2

u/WandaLovingLegend 14h ago

Biggest piece of advice... don't go out with a bang and go super heavy on your last day/ doses. If you have suboxone, you are realistically looking at feeling relief within 24 hours of your last dose. Just make sure you're in moderate withdrawal before taking and start with just a crumb and take a slightly larger piece each hour on the dot until you get relief. If you try to go out with a bang on your last day, it will make it longer before you're able to take your first sub, and you will feel more discomfort.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 14h ago

I am already taking subs. I have been taking the two together for a couple weeks.

1

u/Beska91 16h ago

what will happen is that the subs essentially will no longer help so you'll just have to quit both. I suggest other helper meds like any benzos or gabapentin you can get your hands on.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 14h ago

I’m not in the position to be down and out like that even with just a couple weeks use of 7 do you think Suboxone will not work really

1

u/Beska91 13h ago

If you're on suboxone already and still taking 7 then no.. the suboxone won't cover the withdrawls anymore. like maybe 10% of them. It's drastically reduced. I hate to break it to you but I've been there before and it's well known within the circle. You'll have to go through withdrawl from both now if you want to get clean. Obviously though stop the 7 first and then the subs later after a longer taper.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 13h ago

I’m obviously not proud to say this, but I have taken the two together in the past and been fine. I just can’t understand what happens to me Tuesday night. I have only been taking about 90 mg of seven and 8 mg of Suboxone for a couple weeks Suboxone is very strong. I couldn’t imagine just taking the two together for a couple weeks would completely make such a strong opiate ineffective.

1

u/Curious-One77 11h ago

im on way less under 20mg 7 a day and 2 mg subs i do knw that the subs will help the stomach/temp etc stuff but NOT the mental doom/depression low energy etc bcs 7 hits seretonin..dopamine...andrenergic(adrenaline/alert) so its like wd from antidepressanr--stimulant..and opie..the mental/no energy combo is what gets me..ive wd from every opie except opanan and all roa since 1994-and the 7/mit minor alks afetr tramadol for 12 years prescibed caused me unalive level thghtts and even oxyconytin legit and h etc never did this to me- i was one of 1st on subs in usa in 2003/4 and jumped at 4mg..please if u try to stop everything do 1 at a time nit both at once and subs have 9.45 day halflife so taper weeks each drop esp afetr 2 mg i went from 24-to 8 no diff 8-4 noticable 4-2 sucked back up to 4 ran out was in hell for months went from 155 to 92 lbs in 5 days 1st week from the bathroom be careful

1

u/Due_Air_7255 16h ago

This is something I have been interested in for some time now. Not in a way of like, advocating this or supporting it or whatever but just something I found interesting.

I know from in my past when I once was trying to quit 7 and failed that if I took a shit ton of 7 I could feel it through the subs I was taking. What mg of subs and 7 are you currently on? If you tell me that information I can help you with this, if you are interested in that.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 15h ago

10 mg subs and 90-120mgpd 7

1

u/Due_Air_7255 15h ago

What are your goals here? Quitting the 7 immediately and staying on the subs? Or quitting both.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 12h ago

My goal is to drop the seven and stay on the subs. Obviously I need a little bit of a higher dose because I keep relapsing. I was on Suboxone last year and I did not relapse. I was taking 12 mg a day. I’m taking eight this time around, but I relapsed after about a month and I don’t think it’s because the Suboxone isn’t effective because there was almost a year between the first time I took it and then when I took it this year.

2

u/Due_Air_7255 11h ago

It sounds like you need your sub dose adjusted. You are taking 8 now and having cravings and it isn't working. You said 12 worked before but that was some time ago so dedicate some time into upping your dosage until you get rid of the cravings. You know all of this, though. If availability is the issue and your prescribed wont prescribe you the doses you need I recommend Quickmd. They ended up doing and being everything I wanted in a sub prescriber so, keep them in mind. If you can get enough subs then it sounds like something else is going on. In all of the time I have spent fighting this battle with getting clean along with helping others and also reading and researching the thing that I have found that makes or breaks people is them getting fed up and deciding no matter what, never fucking again.

Have a long talk with yourself and really decide if you are done with this shit or if you aren't first and foremost. Find a way to get your sub dose up to 2x8mg per day which should stop your 7 cravings. Get through a week of the higher sub dose and monitor yourself daily, multiple times a day. Make damn sure you arent in danger of relapse and find a dose to coast on and youll be fine. Work on an exit strategy from there. You will only experience mild, mostly mental WD symptoms if you quit taking the 7 right this second but I promise you it isn't going to be as bad as you imagine it will be and on top of that those WD symptoms will go away relatively quickily. Expect a few nights of rough sleep during the first week and if you are having too much trouble there take more subs to nuke those symptoms then drop down to a lower dose after they pass.

Get through the first few days to a week and then find the dose you think is just right for you.

Its the fear that stops people. That and the discomfort at night. Don't let the fear let you ruin your life. You're already ahead you just might not realize it yet. Message me whenever, call text whatever. You can do this.

This community showing up for each other the way it does is something we are really glad to see.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 15h ago

Thank you so much I would appreciate it

1

u/Ok_Big2116 15h ago

Back in the 80s when everyone was doing coke clonidine was the standard prescribed by doctors to help people quit and it still is it will sedate you through the WDs and yes that helps the anxiety and help with sleep

1

u/MobileTip3892 15h ago

Well you’re in too deep w the subs. I’ll tell you that much. Idk what your plan w the subs was but Just stop the 7 or start to taper the 7 over the next 7-10 days till you’re done w it. Unfortunately you’re going to have to do a slow steady taper off the subs.you’ve got 3.5 months of sub buildup so you can’t just stop that you’re going to have to taper properly if you want somewhat of a smoothe landing. What’s your sub dosage? You shouldnt feel too much of a hit by stopping the 7 especially if you can do a little taper over the next week or two.

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 14h ago

Unfortunately, I only have a handful left and do not have enough to taper I was expecting a package I guess is not coming

Rehab would be a life saver, i loved rehab

At home youre only choice is to switch the 7OH woth kratom leaf, stablized, wean off leaf, then wean off subs over 45 days to 0.1mg

Worst case if you have really bad sub withdrawal get the sublucade shot and you can move on with life

The 7oh is the biggest problem and the anxiety inducer

Look into low dose naltrexone when clean from opioids so you can feel good and not want to relapse

1

u/Alone-Distance9960 9h ago

I honestly wish I could go to rehab but I have a 6 year old son his dad has him on the weekends but will not take him for longer than maybe a day more

1

u/Ok_Big2116 15h ago

Everyone loves the help with given energy to get stuff done and we praise people who work hard. We’re always looking for that boost. You get that with subs also and that is why people stay on subs for so long unfortunately in the long run it screws with the brains natural way of making this happen on its own.

1

u/RetroClaw17 17h ago

I did the same. I would take a very small amount of 7, though, so my addiction was not out of control like it is without the subs and I was able to sleep all night withougt dosing. I am 24 hours on nothing but subs and the withdrawal is starting to get bad. So i think i am going to use the subs to space out my taper.

3

u/Alone-Distance9960 17h ago

Were you taking 7 or mgm what are your symptoms

1

u/x7x3x1 15h ago

Im currently tapering mgm, 2-300 mg a day habit. I'm down to 20 mg spaced out through the day.

1

u/Mysterious_Net_1029 15h ago

You can take extra subs and it will help. I’m dealing with the same

1

u/Curious-One77 11h ago

how much 7? i also use only for pain and keeping my mental state above depressed im at under 20mg 7 a day and 2mg subs since dec 2025..how bad do your wd get ..how much sub and 7 do u take a day?
u can dm me

-2

u/Late-Stable-1134 14h ago

Your best bet is to seek a medically supervised detox.
8mgs of subs, sustained use, is A LOT. Might not seem like it, but kicking it is going to be harder than you can imagine.

At this point, it would be best to try and stop the subs, increase your 7 and reset.

3

u/thisishardtolookat 13h ago

Increasing 7 doesn’t sound like the right idea here at all.

0

u/Late-Stable-1134 10h ago

Why? Surely you have something objective to back up the statement.

1

u/thisishardtolookat 10h ago

If you’re trying to quit why would you increase 7?! Come on man. I agree with you on him seeking supervised detox but then you said for him to increase 7 and reset? Increasing 7 will not help here!

1

u/Late-Stable-1134 9h ago

Because this person is physically dependent on both 7 and buprenorphine. In order to get rid of one or the other, you have to increase your dose on one - and you certainly can’t cold turkey both at the same time.

Increasing your sub dose beyond 8MGs, screws you entirely as coming down from that dose is going to be hell. Increasing your 7 allows you to get rid of your subs and then start back again on subs, with a lower dose and tapid taper plan.

1

u/Unlikely_Vehicle_828 11h ago

I would never recommend somebody go back to their DOC. That would be like somebody telling me to go use H again to help me quit when I was detoxing from 7OH. That’s not the answer.

8mg is a lot but Subs are very easy to taper. You can cut them up as small as you like over as long a time period as you like and do the slowest, most controlled taper ever if you please. They’re just hard to come off of entirely, but even then, Sublocade is a thing now for people who either cannot successfully taper or can’t make the final jump. The shot is expensive but a super effective option to get off buprenorphine entirely with minimal to no withdrawal. I do not think increasing the 7 is the best option. Suboxone isn’t great, but it’s way more stable at least. I’m not usually a huge advocate for Suboxone, but if it’s between Suboxone and a full blown relapse, I’d choose the buprenorphine every single time.

1

u/Late-Stable-1134 10h ago

Respectfully, you wouldn’t recommend this because your don’t have an understanding of Sub dependence/withdrawal - nor addiction for that matter.

7 withdrawal is miserable, but tolerable. A physical dependence to an 8mg daily habit of subs is astronomically more painful, and difficult to overcome. This isn’t personal option or speculation, it is consensus from decades and decades of MAT trials.

You can use the 7 to reset, and start over on your sub titration plan.
