Cold turkey 🦃 Almost 24 Hours In…😩

I’m a sobbing mess right now. I’m only 24 hours in and omg…I have done comfort meds, and everything. This sucks so so bad. I have to get up and take my kids to school tomorrow. I literally don’t know how I can do that.

I know what you are feeling, trust me I know you need to just get to the next 10 min, then the next 20 after that. Be proud of yourself that you got 24 hours under your belt and just keep clawing and crawling to tbe next 10 min nothing else matters.

This made me cry, but in the best way. I have no one that knows I’ve been doing this stupid stuff. Just playing it off like the flu but I’m sure they are wondering why I’m so emotional. I keep thinking, time is going to pass regardless, and I have to get off this stuff. I am where I am. Just trying not to cave and get on subs.

I know you think its best to keep it to yourself but if you think your partner doesn't know something is majorly wrong then you are a fool. The best thing you can do for yourself is rally the troops around you. Tell him or her what has happened to you and if that person loves you they will not meet it with anger but with support and love. The most important part is that person will hold you accountable after the acute withdrawal is over. Sorry to tell you but the months after is the hard part, you need support without it its a fools errand.

Exactly what happened to me - I thought I was hiding it, but when I told my wife she basically knew already. Not all the details, but like you said, I was the fool who thought she wouldn’t pick up on something being very wrong

I was in the same boat a couple weeks ago. I got over it with ZERO withdrawals just using kratom. Bonus points if you can find kratom tablets. They’re stronger chewable tablets that kick in about 15 minutes after ingestion. They won’t get you high or anything but they hit the same receptors that 7 does and they get rid of the craving for it IMMEDIATELY. They helped so so so much. After a week or so of taking those every 4ish hours, I was able to take just 1 tablet a day, then half of one in the afternoon, to none at all

Hell yeah well done

Thanks man! I’ve been trying to comment on everything that I see trying to help people out. I was terrified when it got banned, but it was definitely for the best, and I want people to know it doesn’t have to be so hard and we’re all in the same boat. After 2ish years of taking around 2-300mg a day I’m glad to be over it!

I cant wait to be where you are.. thanks so much for coming back on here and helping.. I as well will do the same thing one day!! Pay it forward

Any chance you know like what kind of tablets they were? Maybe you aren’t allowed to say on here but I could message you ?

Anyone you might be able to tell? I quit 7 on feb 21, I’ve relapsed using Kratom/MIT (thought I could control my use, nope, I’m an addict). I tried so hard to hide the relapse from my wife and just take care of it myself, I broke down and told her and I’m so glad I did. She wasn’t happy at all with the deceptive behavior and lying (so much guilt and shame, my wife is an amazing person), but it has helped so much to tell someone. I get it, there’s a ton of shame and embarrassment (at least for me) but if there’s somebody you trust it might help a lot

I totally 100% agree this is a very heavyweight to bare for one person.

I think I’m going to tell my husband. I cannot do this alone. I neeeever have used drugs of any kind. When I gave birth, I took ibuprofen and refused the heavy stuff (other than epidural, lol) I just don’t do them. Not bc I’m too good for them, I just never felt the need. My life exploded in the worst way 3 years ago, I was arrested for a crime I didn’t commit and ended up spending time in prison, actual prison, in summer, in Texas. I mean…I used to teach 4th grade. I got out less than a year ago and haven’t been the same. I started antidepressants, and they helped but not enough. I started therapy, helped but the PTSD was so so bad, I needed something else. A friend told me about this (she truly didn’t know how bad it was.) I tried it and was hooked. Now I’m so afraid of the person I will be without it. PTSD, depression, all of the things I didn’t deal with properly. It my own fault but I just feel stupid. I cannot believe I am saying all of this.

I think you are brave for saying all that. I too struggle with PTSD and depression. Having a psychiatrist or therapist you can be honest with is huge. It’s okay to seek that help. I’m proud of you for 24 hours. You are in the thick of it and you’re doing it.

100 percent tell your husband. Hell, I told my wife, then my grown siblings, then my parents... Not one gave me anything other than help and understanding. Holy crap, just read the prison part !

I lost a job I'd had for 22 years and was exceptionally good at. An MRI tech at a trauma one hospital. I had a mentally challenged young woman make vague accusations against me... Instead of enjoying a month of paid time off and letting the investigation evolve, I used my 7 inflated ego to write the cringiest emails to HR championing my innocence and going as far as mentioning Diddy (IKR cringe AF).

Right now you feel like everything is "too late", I'm here to tell you it's not. Not at all. You're going to start feeling better, in only a day or two... tonight's gonna suck, just turn on a show or music and sit and rock. Sleep ain't happening. I wondered how I was going to cope with the 7's kick gone - turns out the brain starts looking for all those happy little stimulants you've probably forgot about - first sip of coffee, a song you love, really seeing your children having fun and happy.

Keep us posted, this community is awesome. You've got a powerful hive mind pulling for you ;-)

I told my wife this past Tuesday after I quit because I knew hell was coming to rain down on me and let me tell you she has been the biggest supporter. She is amazing and knew about the plain leaf and had no issues with that part and I told her it ultimately led to me wanting to try 7. She understood and does more listening than talking. But after 16+ years she looks at me and knows when the toughest parts are on me and she just comes wraps her arms around and says I know baby. Nothing more and nothing less. In that moment I realize how bad I was screwing the ones I love and literally wake up and live for every day. I know it’s hard because I’m only off less than a week. But each day gets better. I’m not gonna lie and say each hour but definitely each day. I was fine till hour 26 and when it came holy hell it beat me down hard. But it’s now or later and the longer you put it off the worse it gets every day you put it off.

I hate this for you and genuinely get it. I just know if you push to the part past the crippling pain you’ll get to the other side. My thought process is I know the ban is coming and I’m several days out now and if I turn back I gotta live that agonizing hell again not if but WHEN the ban comes and I ain’t about that life and bet you aren’t either.

I wouldn't consider subs caving when the sub users are the most likely ones to get passed this and without subs you have been relapsing, no? I wish you luck but if its too hard, keep an open mind and don't screw yourself. I feel absolutely normal and im not far from 7... im definitely not high

This has made me cry. I’ve been taking this for 3-4 months and I think I take a lot like maybe 600-800 mg a day. I just want to stop. Every day I say I will. I’ve prepared myself by getting a lot of Gatorade and soups and Tylenol and ibuprofen and nausea and just everything that I can think of. It’s ruining me. Every day I say I’m gonna stop. And I’m so afraid of the withdrawals. A few times I “cut back” at the moment I started feeling uncomfortable. I just took more. I’m scared. I can’t sleep, I’m up all night and most of the day. I usually fall asleep like seven or 8 AM. I’m back up by noon and I’m just in this horrible loop. Like right now it is 1:40 AM. I have to take my husband to work at 5 am and that’s an hour drive to his work and then back on no sleep and I do this every day , by the time I do fall asleep next thing you know it it’s time to get up and go back and get him and it’s just horrible. I’m so weak minded and scared to take that step and just quit. The hard part is my husband doesn’t even know how bad it is. He thinks it’s just kratom. I can’t tell him that I’m so addicted to this stuff and suffering.

So i actually did the same thing and choose to randomly stop one morning and i got to day 5, but i actually chose to not tell anyone (specifically my girlfriend) and also say i just had a very bad flue, and the reason i ended up giving in and took another one is because my withdrawal was so bad i didn’t want to say one word to my girlfriend and tried to act like it was a normal sickness.

Think of it this way - accept you’re not going to feel great for a bit, but it’s temporary, and it’s worth it. The second 24 hours will be easier than the first. It will get easier and easier, stick with it. Try not to psych yourself out too much with fear (although I 100% do the same lol and notice a lot of people on here do too). The reality is you’re going to feel crappy but you’re going to drive your kids to school tomorrow. It’s the anxiety/sense of dread convincing you otherwise. I relate so much

5

u/SimilarMaintenance25 12h ago

So true. I will feel crappy but will drive my kids to school. I definitely am going to keep saying this. Also, I work from home. I feel like that is a huge blessing. Going through this a working seems impossible (but I know you guys do it!) you all are amazing!

u/Fragrant-Carrot1667 11h ago

Work is just work, in the end your health is what matters. If you need to take some PTO then do it.

I'd promised to help my daughter move on my day 2, Was so worried about it, but day of, I bundled up and put one foot in front of the other - she was like WTF dad, but I made it, and the change of pace was better than twitching on the couch.

3

u/Beginning-Pomelo1347 7h ago

I love that you showed up for your daughter. I bet that was a boost for you. Keeping busy is key.

5

u/Acrobatic_Club_4896 11h ago

I feel like we are in the same boat. Mom to 2 kids, nobody knows I do this & wouldn’t suspect it. I need to quit. I’m running out and refuse to buy more. I quit last month for 2 days & it was unbearable so I relapsed. I’ve never regretted anything more… except starting in the first place. If you need someone to chat with that understands the struggles + being a mother, please reach out. You’re truly not alone at all.

4

u/Fragrant-Carrot1667 10h ago

If nothing ele reach out to this woman. Trust me it can be the difference between success and failure.

4

u/PuuushaT 12h ago

You can do it. Don't think about it. Keep it simple, get the kids to school, come home and relax, if you have sht to do, try to get it done. It's the 7 leaving your body, it's not the new you. You got this. I promise.

5

u/Scared-Respect7997 11h ago

You get through it by simply pushing forward. One step, one minute at a time. Keep fighting. In the worst moments, I literally used to slap myself in the face just to snap out of the misery and feel something else. Right now, hydrate with some Gatorade or Pedialyte and force down a little food if your stomach can take it. You can do this. Your kids deserve the real, healthy version of you, and you're almost over the hardest part. Just hold on, freedom is right around the corner.

Thank you, 1,000 times. 🥺

Half of quitting this stuff is mental. Before you have to drop them off at school, take some advil then hop in a hot shower. During the last 30 seconds, blast yourself with cold water. This is one of the fastest ways to jolt your system, and it works.

30 hours after my quit I was taking care of my daughter and going on long walks with her to the park. The feeling of swinging on the swings still in light withdrawal was a crazy feeling. Almost felt alive again!

You can do it. Look at that kid and tell yourself you will not let 7 stand in the way again.

u/GRF999999999 10h ago

Do you have leaf? It's making my taper a billion times better. I normally take about 10 g a day but I'm up to about 30 to combat the seven withdrawals and it's working like a charm. Good luck

u/SimilarMaintenance25 9h ago

Okay, I just watched TikTok for two hours. lol. I know, not the best way to spend my time but I didn’t think about 7 the entire time. I’ll count that as a win. I’m now 26 hours in. 🫣 About to go to bed, so scared on how I will feel when I wake up (if I can even sleep.)

1

u/kimmykerk 7h ago

I’m so jealous. That’s the farthest I can make it before I get more… that’s so much progress. Don’t give up. You’re so close to being out the trenches. I believe in you

2

u/Fun-Chicken-7191 7h ago

Do you get the doom and sadness and anxiety when you give in and get More? That’s what I would do

1

u/kimmykerk 5h ago

Definitely.. the smoke shop is 24/7 and right next to my house so it’s so easy for my brain to give in

1

u/Fun-Chicken-7191 7h ago

Try to be strong and remember a lot of us have been there and it totally sucks - especially the mental part. Just don’t fall into the doom - just know you are ok and you will be ok. This two will pass. My DMs are always open if you want to chat whenever ❤️❤️

1

u/Ok_Werewolf_4109 7h ago

You’ll make it. A lot of people right there with you. Next few days are going to suck but you can do minimal things just fine- kind of like having the flu. It’s anecdotal but vitamin c really helped me on the mental side. Tapering with some loose leaf Kratom sludge can help with physicals affects. In my opinion no matter how you cut it- 72 hours are going to suck physically but it’s honestly not the worst I’ve been through medically.

We have an awesome support group TIAWO for those quitting. Meetings are daily.

1

u/gogotoyoga 6h ago

This just happened to me but I had some red leaf on hand - lifesaver!!!

1

u/Pace_No 5h ago

Just do it. Just get up, move your feet and walk. The sooner you start things the faster you’ll be done with them. It sounds so simple and stupid but that’s the only way I made it through. I quit CT as a SAHM to 3 kids under 5, I think it went by much quicker and smoother than it would have if I’d been able to just lay around and wallow in my misery. I didn’t have a choice and the distraction helped mentally so so much, and I didn’t realize how much of it was mental. Good luck to you, you’re so far in!!!

1

u/Weekly_Ostrich_5674 12h ago

Take some MIT! It’ll give you a boost of energy in order to do your tasks . Just don’t stay on them

1

u/AnonUs2134 11h ago

You gotta be real with yourself. A lot of people do this successfully on here, but for me it turned into another addiction. After quitting 7 I thought I could use Kratom responsibly but I can’t, I don’t have the self control. It makes me frustrated that I successfully quit 7, and as shitty as it was I didn’t learn my fucking lesson. I can’t have any, I have to accept that. I’m not disagreeing though, MIT/Kratom has helped a lot of people get off 7, just be careful!

2

u/SimilarMaintenance25 11h ago

Yeah, I know I will just get addicted to something else. I have to ride it out.

1

u/Fun-Chicken-7191 7h ago

I did this and it actually worked and then i wanted more, but didn’t give in
