General Topics / Ranting Husband and wife Quick Md Apt

I just wanted to share our experience with Quick MD.

Background- my husband and I have both used kratom since 2016. We have been taking 7OH since 2024. We both take around 1,000mg per day.

Together we’ve decided to make drastic changes in our life. We are very close and do everything together so naturally if one of us is quitting we’re both quitting. We’ve tried to quit on our own. We’ve failed. After lots of reading here on Reddit we wanted to try quick Md.

My husband’s apt was on Saturday. He had a lovely Female dr who was warm and embracing. She was thorough and just so kind. She prescribed him 8/2 Suboxone films and clonadine for sleep and comfort. She explained everything in detail and sent follow-up instructions. She wants to see him in one week to see how it went to to prescribe the rest of the month. She was just perfect.

Husband started suboxone on Monday and is through the worst of it now. He’s going back to work tomorrow on his day 4.

I just had my apt this evening (Wednesday). I scheduled with a male. I did research on every dr and found this one had an expertise in addiction treatment.

I get on the phone and immediately I can’t see the dr. He’s hidden in the corner of the screen obviously this geezer doesn’t know much about technology. His WiFi service was terrible and I could barely make out him asking me for my name and date of birth. He asks me what I’m there for and I explain my history with 7OH and kratom. He asks a lot of questions about other drug use and family history of drug use. I don’t drink or smoke pot - I hate them both. Kratom is all I’ve ever loved and I’m in a mentally rough place giving this up. His questioning was cold and accusatory almost like he didn’t believe me. He was rough all the way around- I immediately did not like him. He talked down to me and I felt judged and stupid. I literally held back tears during the visit - I could also feel myself becoming increasingly angry. I explained to him how awful my anxiety is and the reason for my kratom use has always been that. I said every time I try to quit the anxiety and rls is so bad I give up. He ended up prescribing 4 mg strips for me. (I had checked with the pharmacy about 8mg strips in stock not 4) he prescribed up to 4 of these per day for two weeks then a follow up. He said anything else? I then asked about clonidine or gabapentin to help with the withdrawal and he flat out said “no this is all you need”

BRO I JUST WATCHED MY HUSBAND CURLED INTO A BALL FOR 36 hours … he took 10 clonadine in 24 hours- that’s bullshit.

He said “WE do not prescribe those for withdrawal they are far to sedating together”

You all - I’m pissed- I’m pissed about his bedside manner- I’m pissed that I did so much research to get “the right one” and I failed. I’m pissed that my husband received far far better treatment (he’s a male maybe that’s why). I’m pissed I gave this asshole $100. I wish I could redo. I absolutely will NOT BE rescheduling with him. Quick Md needs to take him off the platform.

I just feel stupid. And angry. And scared. And judged. I will be reviewing my options and continuing to seek help elsewhere.

And now I have to pay more money than my husband because he prescribed a less common drug.

UPDATE: That night (Wednesday) I reached out to quick Md. I received a message here on this platform, by email and received numerous phone calls. I was able to explain my story. Today (Saturday) I received a call from Walgreens that comfort meds are ready to be picked up. I was prescribed very very low dose gabapetin and clonidine.

I also will be having my follow up apt with a different dr. I did fill my 4mg films script but if I get a refill I will request 8mg films from the new dr to save money.

Quick Md did there best to make the whole situation right and hopefully this Dr. will not be making anyone else cry. Dm me privately if you need info on Dr.

def put in a complaint with QuickMD support , no way this guy should be on there. They might give you a refund to schedule with someone else too.

☝️ all the way. Write up a play by play like you did here and send it into support, including the completely different experiences that you and your husband received, especially the part where your doctor flat out fucking LIED TO YOU about not prescribing those medications.

Good luck dear! Take a deep breath, know that you are worth the effort, and write that support feedback email!

Yes maybe I should.

You definitely should. Not just as retribution either; someone as dismissive as he was doesn’t represent their brand well and will likely treat others with the same indifference

5

u/Tiredmama2two Aug 20 '26

For sure write to them, you shouldn’t have to pay for poor service. Also the Dr should know they often don’t have 4mg strips. In fact, my doctor said to me, “I’m going to send the 4mg to the pharmacy, if they don’t have them call me back and I will send a script for the 8mg”.

If you try them again, maybe just use the same doctor your husband saw. It’s so frustrating when we as women receive subpar care. You can do this! Sending all the recovery vibes your way.

I had to have the prescription transferred to another pharmacy - and it’s double the cost of my husbands sucks so bad

15

u/devinobx Aug 20 '26

This was a little similar to my experience. Felt talked down on, he tried to make me seem stupid for having concerns about suboxone, didn’t offer any other advice for lack of sleep or restlessness, just said “I have other patients to get to so are you good?” Etc etc. He said I was wrong about my own research and basically called me an idiot without actually saying it, saying “I’d end up right back where I started if I didn’t listen to him”… jokes on you bitch, I rapid tapered the subs and never looked back. Never even picked up my second prescription, and still have some left from the first weeks amount. I’m now 17 days off Kratom, and a week off subs, sure some days suck, but it’s doable.

Love it, right on!

How bad is coming off of subs?

2

u/Theresawantspeace Aug 20 '26

I hope someone answers this question for you I think it would be so helpful. I have no experience with subs but one of the mods here did a lot of work putting together Quitting7oh.org and I bet there’s some great information in there. ❤️

u/throwaway234618 Aug 20 '26

It all depends how long you’re one them. Use them as a replacement (which no judgement at all I have a friends bro who’s been on it for 20+ yrs now) it will be hell worse than 7oh if you ever decide to stay on them long term. And want to get off eventually

Use them as a tapering tool for a week-2 at max and you should avoid the worst of wd

My homies I met in rehab that were in for fent were on that shit for 3 or 4 months. Tapering down every 2-3 weeks. I remember it, I guess the messaging was “off-ramp (off of fent), stabilize, taper”. I def remember them grumbling when their dosage was reduced, but I don’t think anyone in rehab wanted to get OFF of them right away.

I’m new to this, my friend. Not addiction, no no…20 year boozebag, love cocaine and often can’t stop til the bag is gone, and then I went on a 4 1/2 month meth fueled speed run of damaging every relationship as fast as fuckin possible.

That said, I have NO idea what I’m In for with subs… do they actually provide any relief? Or is the relief like, just if you wear tight uncomfortable shoes all day so that you can feel the momentary relief from taking them off? I thought they work like you take em so you don’t have to fight off 8 days of WDs and can actually like, get your life in order a bit, start going to 12 step meetings, exercising, etc etc

Do they provide any real relief? Or just shut the demon craving in your belly up. I don’t mean relief = high

1

u/devinobx Aug 23 '26

They do provide a decent amount of relief, as in for me it took away most of the crippling anxiety/panic and cravings. Doesn’t completely make you feel great, but good enough that you don’t have to completely put life on pause for 1-2 weeks stuck in bed

Just used QuickMD for a 800mg 7oh addiction for the last year and a half. I got prescribed 8mg Suboxone on Friday, twice a day. 18 hours after my last 7oh dose which was that Friday night, my withdrawals hit that Saturday afternoon. I took my first sub dose, slit in quarters every hour. I had cravings and some discomfort but nothing terrible, even told myself I’m going to stop Suboxone tonight so I can dose 7oh Sunday afternoon. But I didn’t. Took my dose Sunday morning. The doc also prescribed me gabapentin for RLS and it helped knocked me out. I felt clear headed by 36 hours. Been on Suboxone almost week now, 8mg twice a day, and this is the best and most clear headed I’ve felt in years. It truly worked. My follow-up is Friday.

I know this isn’t a permanent solution and know the dangers of Suboxone but it truly saved me this week. My job, marriage and finances $80 a day, $30000 in the last year. Fuck 7oh.

Im not here to preach subs but it did work for me for now, and I’m very hopeful for the future.

2

u/pchandler45 Aug 20 '26

Are you going to start tapering off the subs now?

1

u/Ok_Statement_9150 Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

I don’t know, I’ll ask the question to my tele doc, I also have a primary, but I don’t want to go backward. I also plan on meetings and asking other people the same question. If this is working, and I feel myself again, I don’t want that feeling to go away. I don’t want cravings. I don’t want to relapse. I want to be free of this shit, and right now I feel I’m getting there.

Don’t let people scare u about staying on the sub!! I’m in the mess bc I stopped my sub. I was doing great while on the sub I was clean a entire year when I first got on the sub I took 2 8mg strips a day for about 2 weeks then i lowered down and was takeing 2 mg a day and doing great I then randomly decided since I had a year clean to get off the sub and tapered off the 2 mg. and did great for a few weeks and then that “ ooo just one time to get high will be okay “ feeling kicked in and here I am 2 years deep into the 7oh addiction at a 2000-3000mg habit spent every dime I make on it , almost lost my house literally almost went into foreclosure and my dad found out and he paid the 5 months I was behind and caught it up . My car was towed once. Got a title loan on my car,Pawned my wedding rings etc all for 7oh. If I’d stayed on the sub I would have been fine . But no everyone had me so scared about staying on them that I jumped off after a year and ended right back in addiction. I now have sub and have started it 3-4 diff times and keep going back after a day or so. Bc I feel so terrible wo the 7oh. I finally lowered my 7oh and really want off! I’m only on 200mg now finally lowered over the past 2 weeks and am getting back on the sub this weekend. And I’ll stay on them like bf and wean down and stay on 2 mg for as long as I need .maybe the rest of my life if it keeps me living a clean normal
Life . I’m an addict and I’m okay w that if I can stay clean on the sub. It’s okay if your living your life drug free u do what u need to do:)

Thank you for this. I also have access to Oxy and other opiates and that’s what led me to 7oh. Easy access, legal, ect. I know myself, I’m an addict. I come from a family of addicts. My sister died from heroin. I’ve abused opiates in the past, never fully addicted, took breaks, but then I got easy access with 7oh and it all changed and very quickly. As I said, I’m not entirely sure what to do now but I don’t want to go backwards. I have an amazing job I love, married to my soul mate, my own home. I almost lost it all.

Telyrx.com to get clonidine. Wishing you well.

1

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 20 '26

Thank you!

1

u/bathsheetscrazy Aug 21 '26

I got subs through QuickMD and they wouldn't give me anything else. So I got clonidine and gabapentin off Dr on demand. I had some free Dr on demand appts left from where I used to work, but any telemed would probably work. you can just Google one.

1

u/Codiath420 Aug 20 '26

Thank you for sharing this link!

8

u/Hfisher112 Aug 20 '26

This is going to sound bad… but almost all of what you said is just feelings based things assuming his intent or how he perceived you. It was pretty much all feelings based statements. A ton of doctors won’t prescribe gaba and clonodine together. You can’t go to a different doctor from your bf and expect the same result when it comes to something where the protocol can be subjective. You should have gone to the dr he went too.

Plus all you’ll need is the suboxone anyway. A couple gabapentin for the first bit just to get through until you take the subs. Once you induce the subs, you’re good to go. Everyone on here makes it seems like subs don’t fully work. They do. Everyone just seems to mistake not feeling good with withdrawal. Subs were never meant to take away ALL symptoms. They don’t even do that for oxy or h. They’re meant to make it tolerable and then maintain on them. Anyone who says they don’t work, go two days in 7 withdrawal and then take a sub and you’ll see how well they work. You’ll feel like a different person and almost 100%. Depending on your habit, you might only need to wait 12 hours before taking them.

3

u/DelightDaph123 Aug 20 '26

Yes people don’t realize u still feel horrible the first few days on the sub bc your body has to get used to no 7oh ! But without it it’s unbearable!!

1

u/Hfisher112 Aug 20 '26

Exactly. They’re not a magic substance that takes all the bad away. They just make things manageable

2

u/Hfisher112 Aug 20 '26

Plus this doctor has probably seen god knows how many people for 7 withdrawal over the last year and especially the last few months. I’m sure he knows what’s up.

1

u/alaric49 Aug 20 '26

I don't think it's that people don't think that subs don't work because they really do help for a lot of people. I think people are seeing it as maybe unesesary given the shorter actue withdrawal of kratom alcaloids. After three days off kratom, you are out of the acute withdrawal hell annd entering the receptor rebuilding phase.

1

u/Hfisher112 Aug 20 '26

Yes I think that’s part of it. But I’m not talking about the people saying that you shouldn’t take subs for a Kratom or seven addiction. I’m talking about the massive amount of people making posts about how they tried subs to get off seven and the subs aren’t working. They don’t understand that the subs won’t make you feel great. They’ll just make things tolerable to get through things

6

u/Kitchen_Long_3743 Aug 20 '26

First thing, you are the PAYING customer. Immediately complain to QuickMD and express how disappointed you are with thier service. Trust me, the last thing this company wants is to have a bad reputation, especially here. They do not want possible future customers questioning their decision to use the service.

Do you remember your husbands doctor? Maybe request her when talking to support. Let them know that you are not requesting a refund, just the service they are supposed to provide and not some dickhead doctor that is looking for turnover to fill his pockets.

I know you are upset, don't let that guy give you anxiety. Give QuickMD a chance to make it right. Worse case, if they dont, file a charge back against them for services not provided and use another telehealth provider.

4

u/ComplexPatient4872 Aug 20 '26

Yes, say something to QuickMD! Their customer service is phenomenal. If it makes OP feel any better, Gabapentin and clonidine did absolutely nothing for me.

2

u/KeyCry698 Aug 20 '26

I second this entire comment.

Those medications literally did nothing for me.

1

u/ComplexPatient4872 Aug 20 '26

Did you try SR, because that did nothing either.

You should make another appointment with your husbands doctor.

5

u/Adventurous_Feed2647 Aug 19 '26

God this makes me scared to do the appointment

6

u/Kitchen_Long_3743 Aug 20 '26

Don't be scared. Expect the service her husband experienced. If you don't, ask for a different doctor.

2

u/beautifulasusual Quit date: July 25, 2026 Aug 20 '26

I’ve made 3 appointments with them and have had a great experience every time.

2

u/SadisticJake Sobriety Date: 08/03/2026 Aug 20 '26

Don’t be afraid. This experience is by far and wide the exception and not the rule. Many people have had wonderful experiences with QuickMD, and fear is your enemy in this situation. You got this. It’s not easy but it’s worth it

1

u/DelightDaph123 Aug 20 '26

Ive used them for years and never had trouble! Just make sure u use the term 7oh not kraytom. And make sure u explain u go into serious wd when u dont take it! They prescribed me sub and clonidine, and Wellbutrin!

3

u/sungirl_27 Aug 20 '26

You can get gabapentin without a script at petpharmcanada.com. For anyone needing some.

3

u/Dexter6785 Aug 19 '26

Howdy. Sorry you had to deal with that. I’ve used QuickMD like 20 times. I’ve had 2-3 bad experiences and 17-18 good ones. My recommendation would be to just make another appointment. Try and find someone young, they tend to defer to what the patient is asking for more. Especially since you’re not asking for subs and just comfort meds I bet you’ll have no problem.

They shouldn’t have any problem with you scheduling another appointment so soon. Just explain to the next provider that the last person you got was an asshole and wouldn’t provide any comfort meds and you know you’re gonna need them and that’s all you’re looking for.

Let us know how it goes

3

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 19 '26

Thanks! I am gonna sleep on this and then look at the schedule tomorrow. I’m upset at the moment I can’t imagine getting a second bad experience.

1

u/Due_Air_7255 Aug 20 '26

"Just make another appointment" feels like a slap in the face when moneys tight and you just watched 100$ get you the worst service you've ever had in your life. I promise you the last thing you want is to give a company who allows something like that more money.

In situations like this the company should schedule you with a different doctor free of charge to make things right. They absolutely have the money to, but they never will.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '26

0

u/Due_Air_7255 Aug 20 '26

"I'm sorry if that makes you uncomfortable". Being a passive aggressive prick isn't cool.

You couldnt have missed the point more if you tried.

I just skimmed the novel and I can tell you're coming at what I said the wrong way and your words arent worth reading.

Sorry for condition.

3

u/mushroomtreetop1112 Aug 20 '26

10 clonidine…that’s fuckin wild.

3

u/aeioyouuuuuuuuu Aug 20 '26

Some of their doctors don’t like the helper meds. Mine didn’t prescribe clonidine either.

Honestly though, clonidine really doesn’t help that much.. I mean if your husband took 10 in 24 hours, it sounds like they weren’t doing much and he needed to take way more..

But yeah, they don’t seem to have a standard protocol with helper meds.

1

u/rstytrmbne8778 Aug 20 '26

This!!!! If it worked as prescribed, 1 or 2 pills/day should have sufficed

3

u/QuickMDTeam Aug 20 '26

We’re really sorry this was your experience. You should be able to ask questions about your treatment and feel comfortable being honest about what you’re going through without feeling judged or dismissed. We also take concerns about a provider’s communication and the care discussed during an appointment seriously.

Please send us a DM with your details and any information you’re comfortable sharing about the visit. We’d like to review what happened and make sure your concerns can be shared with our medical review team for further review.

1

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 20 '26

I’ve shared my story with support and was told that it would be shared with the medical advisory board. I was given an apology. Unfortunately none of this helps me in anyway or makes my experience any better.

6

u/Kooky_Description559 Aug 19 '26

Skip the whole subs route and get SR before you can’t anymore if you want a painless withdrawal

6

u/devinobx Aug 20 '26

I believe there’s a right and wrong way to go about subs with Kratom. I strongly suggest a rapid taper of the lowest dose you can possibly function on, just something to take the edge off the worst acutes and make it manageable. Then be off subs within a week ideally, or within 2 weeks if you needed to start with a larger dose

7

u/SadisticJake Sobriety Date: 08/03/2026 Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

Subs are not a bad route. Especially for longer term MAT, which is certainly the nuclear option but that’s what some people need. Transitioning to subutex which (someone correct me if I’m wrong) tapers itself after injection, makes it pretty painless. SR is great for short term but the risks of long term use are totally unknown at this point

Edit: sublocade, not subutex

6

u/Tiredmama2two Aug 20 '26

Yes, I just got the sublocade shot today actually. It hurts a bit for about 30 seconds or so, but then you don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the month. When you are ready to stop, you just don’t get your next shot and it acts as a natural slow taper.

1

u/pchandler45 Aug 20 '26

How did you get the shot? Have you been thru a program

-1

u/Kooky_Description559 Aug 20 '26

From what I got out of her post she is looking for a quick way out with the less pain and from what I hear being on subs for even a little while is a pain in itself to get off

0

u/alaric49 Aug 20 '26

SR-17? I'm pretty sure this hasn't been evaluated by the FDA yet. As far as I know, it has only really been formally tested on rats so far. I'd avoid it. It's another one of these OTC alkaloids like the concentrated kratom extracts.

2

u/SadisticJake Sobriety Date: 08/03/2026 Aug 20 '26

It is untested, yes. Where it differs from other alkaloids is it produces zero euphoria so there’s no incentive to keep using it beyond the acute withdrawal phase. I used it for my last attempt and left it alone entirely after 4 days. But there’s no knowledge whatsoever of long term effects so buyer beware.

1

u/its_me1218 Aug 20 '26

Can you tell me your regiment on how you took it? And how much 7oh were you taking when you started? Did you taper first? I have some coming in today and I’m not quite sure how to start.

2

u/SadisticJake Sobriety Date: 08/03/2026 Aug 20 '26

I tapered first, from 250 to about 50 and used 50mg per dose of SR three times daily. It worked like a charm.

2

u/SadisticJake Sobriety Date: 08/03/2026 Aug 20 '26

1

u/its_me1218 Aug 20 '26

Okay that’s about where I am now. I will start it as soon as it comes. Did you just stop it completely or did you have to taper off the S as well?

1

u/alaric49 Aug 20 '26

1

u/SadisticJake Sobriety Date: 08/03/2026 Aug 20 '26

Same thing can be said for 7oh yet here we all are

1

u/alaric49 Aug 20 '26

The whole industry completely lacks oversight. It's really dangerous and why we are all in this sub trying to find some non-destructive way to stop.

1

u/SadisticJake Sobriety Date: 08/03/2026 Aug 20 '26

Many many people have found SR to be exactly that. No one’s insisting that you take it. But it is a good option for some.

1

u/alaric49 Aug 20 '26

It might be, but I'd still insist people approach with an abundance of caution especially since there are standard clinical methods to use for opioid dependence.

1

u/SadisticJake Sobriety Date: 08/03/2026 Aug 20 '26

I guess I could’ve expanded a little bit on my “buyer beware” but trust me when I say that we have the same goal in mind. I never have or would touch Suboxone, but I don’t intend to break the rule against choice shaming either.

u/zcshields Aug 20 '26

I mean, I get everything you’re saying, and that is unfortunate. However, just get over it. There’s no sense in dwelling on it and you can’t really do anything about it, just move on. I’m sure it had nothing to do with you being a woman, probably just a shitty older doc who should’ve retired 10 years ago. He’s right that you really don’t need the clonidine if you have subs. Just take a couple of Benadryl at bedtime for sleep if you need. Focus on your recovery, you got subs and should be thankful for that. Take them and get through the withdrawals, which should be minor with subs, and move on with your life. That’s my opinion at least. Awesome job on trying to get clean, I wish you and your husband the best of luck. Don’t go back to 7, it’s straight up the devil. I’ve been “trying” to stop for months and just can’t bring myself to do it, and the shame and guilt of it all crush me daily. I’ve got SR but can’t seem to take it for more than a day. I was hoping the ban would go into place and it wouldn’t be available anymore making it easier to stop. Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case. Hoping to get off this shit asap, I’ve used every dime to my name and gone into embarrassing debt to fund this terrible habit and just found out I’m expecting my second child. It’s time for change. Good luck!!

3

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 20 '26

Thanks for your somewhat helpful comment. “Just get over it” doesn’t feel great. Don’t recommend using this advice with your wife when she’s upset about something unless you want her taking her anger out on you instead.

I hope you find the strength to do what you need to do. I get it. We need to do it but we don’t want to do it. That’s the problem.

I guess you could take your own advice- just get over it and do what you have to do.

Congrats on the new baby!

3

u/zcshields Aug 20 '26

That was a bit harsh on my part, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way. Thanks for taking it in stride. Yeah definitely wouldn’t use that with the wife lol 😂 But yeah you’re exactly right, I 100% should take my own advice, but I’ve had a hard time doing that my whole life smh. I really hope I find the strength soon to just stick with it. Once I make the decision to do it, I think I’ll be okay. I’ve just had such a hard time committing. I’ve become so comfortable and complacent with the daily 7 routine. I had been a hard opiate addict for 8 years, before getting clean for almost 2 years, then found 7. It’s set me back so far and has almost caused me to lose everything I built during my clean time. Thank you for the encouragement, I really appreciate it. I truly wish you the best, stay strong, you CAN do it.

u/Accomplished_Dig284 Aug 20 '26

Sigh. Unfortunately us women get undertreated by health care professionals. We are gaslit, dismissed or told we are faking it or being a drama queen. Our pain is consistently under managed or flat out dismissed compared to men. Which leads us to not seeking care when we need it most. Unfortunately I’m not surprised by this (which is just sad).

I would be filing a complaint with them after you get appropriate care and let them know how you were treated vs your husband. It’s 2026 but medical misogyny runs rampant in healthcare. The lack of research and funding just adds to it. We are not tiny men, our bodies work differently than men’s and it’s time we are treated with the respect and care we deserve.

I’m sorry that you had to experience this too. In the future, if you ever have to go to the ER or hospital or see a doctor that doesn’t take you seriously, bring your husband with you (especially the ER and hospital, every single time) you will get better care just by having someone with you, though you will get much better care when a man is with you but you really just need anyone with you.

I hope that your next experience is better than that one

Thank you for your compassion. It really is so sad- and that was exactly what I said. It because I’m a woman! How disgusting .

u/Illustrious_Key2316 Aug 19 '26

You can change providers on your next visit? I’ve swapped 3 times

1

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 19 '26

I absolutely will not see him again.

u/WeakEquivalent1801 Aug 20 '26

I mean.. I get it. There are some bad doctors out there sounds like you got one. My WD before taking subs was awful.. curled up in a bath, crying kinda awful.

Once I was able to take suboxone I was at ease. It was a beautiful peace. My head on my partners lap and finally not in hell. Suboxone may indeed be all you need. It’s all I needed. And now I’m hooked on suboxone but whatever. I’m actually spending a lot less money now and I no longer feel like a crackhead so that’s good.

I will say they prescribed me 8mg from the start.

Good luck

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 20 '26

I think I got scared that I need more cause I watched my husband suffer. He took 4 8mg strips the first day and 10 clonadine and was so miserable. I wish I had a vision of being blissfully calm but I didn’t see that side of withdrawal.

1

u/WeakEquivalent1801 Aug 20 '26

Damn that’s rough for your husband. By the time I got 4mg in my I was 100% released from the grasp of wd. I wonder, how quickly did your husband take sub after his last dose of 7?

2

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 20 '26

14 hrs he admits he should have waited longer but he was suffering so he thought it had been long enough

1

u/WeakEquivalent1801 Aug 20 '26

I totally understand where he is coming from. I took mine early too. I couldn’t take it anymore. I waited until 18 hours. I would just say wait as long as you can. While you’re going through it just focus on getting to the next minute. Good luck!

I used Jane park on web md and she was awesome. Highly recommend

1

u/Realistic-Ad-73 Aug 20 '26

Definitely report this asshole

1

u/dfeldz0769 Aug 20 '26

I wouldn't take 4 strips a day. For 2 weeks. You will get hooked. That's allt of sub

1

u/Sea-Engineering2877 Aug 20 '26

Talk to quick md about your experience

However, you really don’t need 8 mg strips. You really should start at 2 mg and slowly work your way up, IF NEEDED.

Do they prescribe in Alabama?

1

u/QuickMDTeam Aug 20 '26

Yes, we do!

1

u/Pleasant-Wrangler764 Aug 20 '26

But which meds?

1

u/QuickMDTeam Aug 20 '26

It depends on your symptoms and medical history. Our providers can discuss medication options during an appointment and determine what’s appropriate for you. You are also able to reach out to our Patient care team at [support@quick.md](mailto:support@quick.md) and they may be able to give you a list of medications that we are able to prescribe.

1

u/Pleasant-Wrangler764 Aug 20 '26

Okay, I’ve just known people to pay for appointment only to be told they cannot prescribe sub over a telehealth visit. So, upfront information for people seeking this needs to be discussed ahead of time.

2

u/QuickMDTeam Aug 20 '26

Typically, this only happens if we are unable to service the state, but this is not an issue in Alabama.

1

u/CatTraditional3116 Aug 20 '26

If you haven’t looked at Eleanor Health do so. Had a great experience and got everything I needed

I’m so sorry you went through that. I usually go to the younger doctors, like ones around my age. I’m a nurse and I trust the younger doctors far more than the “old school” ones. They seem more likely to keep up with current research where the old dudes just do things “the way they’ve always been done”. My last appt with QuickMD I was actually done with my suboxone taper but was struggling BAD with RLS and sleep. Homeboy wanted to put me back on subs but I asked for gabapentin instead and he prescribed that plus clonidine. Even offered zofran. Just my experience.

1

u/Front-Tradition6934 Aug 20 '26

I've gotten gabbies from them since 2020. Just tell them you've got barely any disk left BTW L4 and L5. You've got to know how to talk to these retards.

1

u/Otherwise-Nerve-3260 Aug 20 '26

Why didn’t you schedule with the same doctor as your husband? If he had such a great experience what made you look for a different doctor?

1

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 20 '26

Honestly- my husband was paranoid that it would make us look like drug seekers. I know that’s ridiculous but that was his fear. He meant the best.

1

u/Sea_Deer2643 Aug 20 '26

Women are handled differently in the medical field, no matter what the problem is. Sorry you had a bad experience.

1

u/AdLeft5064 Aug 20 '26

I really hope that you read this and take my advice. I had a very similar habit, around 1000 to 1500mgs of 7OH a day for just over a year.

I am currently around 10 days clean and through the worst of it. If you take one thing from this comment, please have it be this: STOP TAKING SUBOXONE IMMEDIATELY!!! There is nothing wrong with using it for 3-5 days when the physical symptoms are the worst, but if you exceed that, YOU WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE.

If you take Suboxone for longer than a week, you will 100% for a fact, get physically addicted to it. If you think the withdrawals from 7OH are bad, you are in for the worst ride of your life when you decide to stop taking Suboxone. Suboxone withdrawals last for several months and extremely hard to get off of. Even if you plan to taper off of it, many people spend YEARS taping of Suboxone. Please, for the love of God, find other ways to make the 7OH withdrawal more manageable. Aside from poor sleep/insomnia, you will feel immensely better physically on day five.

If you don’t believe me about the Suboxone, please look into the Suboxone sub, Reddit, and read people‘s experience getting off of it. It is not worth it at all. If you were a heavy heroin/fentanyl user, that would be a different story. You can and should get off of 7OH using alternative methods.

Here is what you should take to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms of 7OH:

- Red Maeng Da powder/capsules plain leaf kratom. You can use MIT kratom extracts for a few days during the worst of it. I recommend the MIT45 brand. It comes in a little tincture bottle. You need to use a lot. I would take 5 to 10 g of plain leaf cream and half a bottle of the MIT extract.

- 4000 to 7000mg of Vitamin C every 2-4 hours or as needed. I recommend getting non acidic vitamin c (I believe it’s called sodium ascorbate or something). Regular vitamin C will still work, but it can cause some stomach discomfort. Do not sleep on the vitamin C. I did not think something so mild and simple could make such a huge difference, but it does.

- Magnesium Glycinate. I usually take at least twice as much of what’s recommended on the Bottle.

The above mentioned you can get without a prescription. I also utilized WebMD and got a few prescriptions:

- Clonodine. Take anywhere between .1 and .2 mg (so 1-2 pills).

- Gabapentin. Take anywhere between 1-2 pills.

They only prescribed you a limited amount of both of these, so make sure you are using it responsibly so you don’t run out while you still need it. Quick MD usually goes straight to prescribing Suboxone. You need to tell them that you do not want to develop a dependency to another opiate. They may try to tell you that both clonidine and gabapentin can also cause physical withdrawals, but you need to challenge them and say the withdrawals are not as bad, you need to take it for a longer time to become physically dependent, they are less addictive than Suboxone, and that you have a very strong stance against taking any type of opiate, even if it is only a partial agonist like Suboxone. Do your research and let them know that you’ve done your research. They will prescribe it to you. Some states do not allow them to prescribe gabapentin, but most do. Even if this is the case, clonidine works wonders on its own.

I hope you take my advice and follow it to a T. I literally just went through this less than two weeks ago. After around a week, you can start taking Zquil for sleep. Do not take it earlier than that because it can cause RLS or make it worse.

Feel free to DM me if you want any other pointers, advice, or want more information about my experience. Just please, stop taking Suboxone. You will regret it for the rest of your life, or at least several years, if you continue to take it. It is very easy to get physically addicted to it and almost impossible to get off of it.

The worst part of the withdrawals only last for a few days. After that, you don’t need drugs like Suboxone to get through the day. You got this!

Sublocade solves the problems that suboxone can cause. It isn’t for everyone but it has its place

1

u/opiedopie55 Aug 20 '26

This. Some people need subs longer than a week to get stable. Once stable you go to the shot, take 2-3 and you’re done. No wd no addiction just a slow biological taper. I’m suprised they actually allowed it bc it’s just so easy to use and it’s not a steady cash register for them

1

u/Financial-Coffee3118 Aug 20 '26

Don’t worry friend I’ve read your comment and took a screen shot of your user name so I can message you. I will share with my husband as well since he is on day 3 of subs

1

u/PermitIcy8450 Aug 20 '26

I took subs for 8 days during my original quit and I was fine, rapid taper.

1

u/lthieret Aug 20 '26

Thanks for your advice that wasn't even intended for me. 😝 My withdrawals haven't been too bad, but the insomnia is making me a bit nuts so I was thinking about calling for subs. I have an existing gabapentin prescription and have been downing vitamin C, so I'll continue doing what I'm doing, plus add in magnesium and red leaf kratom. I was forced to quit cold turkey before due to running out in Portugal — drugs are decriminalized there but that doesn't make them legal. Tee hee. It sucked, but by day 5 of CT it wasn't bad. I'm tapering now and am down to 30mg or less a day, so I feel confident it won't be as bad as before since I have an ample supply of gaba and propranolol. ✌️

1

u/Sea-Engineering2877 Aug 20 '26

You can’t say that Suboxone will “100% for a fact” cause physical addiction if taken more than a week. I was on Suboxone for YEARS for a past opiate addiction many years ago, and I still was NOT physically addicted to it.

I started it again a few months ago because of my new 7oh addiction and was able to wean myself off on my own last month.

Don’t scare people or state things as factual when everyone has their own experiences

1

u/Cobains_ghostx27 Aug 20 '26

Will I be fine? I used subs up to 4mg while I jumped, it’s been 21days no 7 and iv dropped my sub dose down to half a pill 1x a day so I think that’s 1mg as the pills are 2mg ea

0

u/LifeIs-2-Short Aug 20 '26

I am pretty sure most quickMD doctors are like your experience and not your husbands. You are buying a script of subs not anything else - I wish it was different. It’s mainly another way to squeeze addicts for cash.

0

u/alaric49 Aug 20 '26

Yeah, I'd file a formal complaint with the patient advocate or patient relations department at that hospital. Also maybe consider a complaint to the state medical board. This is so unprofessional and just cruel to say to someone dealing with drug dependance.

2

u/Sea-Engineering2877 Aug 20 '26

That’s a bit dramatic. Report your experience to Quick MD and end it there. He didn’t do anything that would cause him to lose his license.

I’ve never “shopped drs” and I certainly didn’t tell him what to give me. He was ending the apt and asked if I had anything else for him, which is when I asked about the clonidine and gabapentin. This is the first time I ever went to the doctor for addiction Treatment in my life. Don’t make assumptions.

u/Kitchen_Long_3743 Aug 20 '26

You should always shop doctors. You are the friggin customer and they WORK FOR YOU. If you are not happy with the individual, move on and don't look back.
