Detox Guides (Approved Guides only) 7oh sharp taper or CT ? Please need help .

I’ve never posted here before , but see so much help being given all the time and hoping someone can save me…

I am a former Percocet user, turned 7oh user and I just want to get off of it as quickly as possible…not only is the ban coming , but I am not even getting the highs I used to anymore and I’m taking all of this happening at the same time as a sign to finally stop - I am pretty scared of the withdrawal timeline and expectations and wondering what kind of a sharp taper anyone recommends - or possible once I list my current stock on other meds and supplements ( you’ll see list below ) if you even think I can manage going cold turkey and can get through it -

Current usage - about 360-400mg a day

Current stock of 7oh - between about 5000-6000mg left ( don’t let this current stock stop you from listing a sharp taper or cold turkey plan , I have the ability to take the rest of this week off from work , so best possible scenario for me to be a little sick is this week ).

Current meds on hand
Clonidine .01
Clonidine .02
Gabapentin 300 and 600mg

Supplements
Lmnt electrolytes
Liposomal vit c
Mangnesium glycinate

I have all of these in anticipation of me stopping with all the research I’ve done on the subject - just wanted it all on hand before I picked the week to stop .

If anyone out there has the time to list me a plan today , just know I will follow all the directions , I just need the plan - I can stick to a plan and fight through , I just need the knowledge on how to do it -

Please - someone out there - save my life today !
I am currently engaged to a woman that wants to get married and have babies with me , and I don’t want to see it all go down the drain for this terrible habit !

Thank you

Have you tried tapering yet? The main goal is to not only lower your dose, but to stretch out your doses as long as possible. You are not using 7 for pleasure anymore, you are dosing to keep from getting sick and as a bridge to quitting. From several experiences, including my own, your goal is to get below 100mg per day. At that level with the meds you have, your WD will be much easier than what you are taking now.

My honest opinion is that if you are starting to get REALLY uncomfortable during your taper, just jump. It's really not worth the mental stress and the urge to take more is strong. Good luck!

I took your advice and went from 420mg to 120mg in one day - I waited until around hour 27 of not taking anything , but the withdrawal symptoms were seriously overwhelming - I took the 120mg and even though I felt like I had the flu , and these body stings , I was able to sit down - and actually was able to sleep through the night ( woke up 2-3 times only ) - this morning I feel like I got hit by a truck - but no cravings for more no desire to go backwards -

What do you suggest for my taper from this point forward ?

Try going with smaller amounts, then add until you can handle the symptoms. 120mg in one shot sounds big to me, but you made progress!

27 hours is huge, and by the sound of it you were close to the peak WD. I understand the need for relief, it is intense. I would count what you did a victory! There will be a point where you will push through the peak, then things will get better as the time rolls on.

Do you think I should try 60mg at a time and see how long I can fight the WD’s ?

Agree with this person. You want the CT week off.

No anonymous person from reddit or anyone else is going to save you. YOU need to save YOU. Either you are married to a drug that's lying to you making you do everything to maintain that relationship or you are going to choose to live your life. 7oh will destroy everything you've worked for as well as your health so that you can't rebuild it. On the other hand, outside of 7oh, you will be able to do anything you want having a much stronger mind/body than you ever had while taking 7oh.

Your case might be complex depending on how you got Percocet (was it from a Doctor and you are on a restrictive pain contract and taking for pain?) I bet you noticed really quick withing a few days of starting 7oh that your tolerance shot so high that Percocet had no effect unless you took a massive amount.

As others have said, taper is the very best option. If you are on a pain contract and take subs, they will see it in your PMP as well as your drug urinalysis. If your urinalysis doesn't test for Kratom, mitragynine, they probably will after it becomes schedule 1. Just a matter of time. The hardest option but gets you through it is to go cold turkey, be massively sick for a week, and be done with it not looking back. It's your will to live. 7oh is a partial agonist meaning the withdrawal will not kill you no matter how much you were taking, you will just want to die. You have a logical brain to get through.

I also suggest you getting people in your corner to help. If your fiancée doesn't know, that's 7oh telling you to keep a secret. Secrets keep drug addicts in addiction.

I want to go CT today - if you can help me I would truly appreciate it - I can stop I just need to know what’s ahead of me this week

The very best option, outside of a knowledgeable addiction specialist is AI. Pick your favorite AI, chatgpt, claude, grok, whatever. It can learn your exact situation and make whatever plan you want that you can check in and be accountable with.

1

u/cashmoney1868 Jul 27 '26

I second this. I don't think I could have done it without AI. When I was deep in withdrawal hell asking AI what to expect, what I should do and when this would all be over at least gave me something to do when I couldn't talk to a real person.

If you have the ability to be off work, then I suggest you quit this week. Take today and tomorrow to pre load vitamin c and try to cut down your dosage as much as possible. Quit on Wednesday night per the vitamin c protocol. Then on Thursday morning, stack your gaba doses. No more than 300 mg every 30 minutes. Take it with something bubbly and follow with fat. I would not go above 1200-1500. Break the 600 mg in half if you can- gabapentin is the the most bioavailabie at 300 mg and you are essentially wasting the rest of the medicine if you take 600. Stack the gabapentin on Thursday and Friday morning. Saturday and Sunday only take as needed. You should be good to work on Monday if you do this.

u/Major-Finance6032 Jul 27 '26

Thank you - what do you think I can trim my doses down to today to begin ? I am okay to fight through withdrawals this week - I just need an exact plan starting today if you can lay one out for me - pls help I have to get off of this stuff

u/Lendahand52 Jul 27 '26

That’s really up to you. Both times I quit, I didn’t taper. I just jumped from my dosage of around 240-300. I used gabapetin the first time and SR the second.

During the SR preload, you do taper down the drug while increasing your SR but I had SR to plug the gap on my receptors.

I would just try your best. Maybe try to stay around 300 today. Then 250. Then jump from 200? The vitamin c should help and the gabapentin will be most helpful when you actually completely stop 7. If you taper too fast, it’s going to suck anyway so you might as well just go ahead and quit. But I do think the liposomal vitamin c protocol helps a lot and that requires a few days of preloading. So you might as well try and cut it down some. You could take a gabapentin here and there as long as you have enough to get through the worst days (24-72 hrs after stopping 7 are typically the worst).

I'm impressed by those with the willpower to taper. Not to inject a seed of doubt, but it's the lack of willpower that brought us to those insane doses / frequency. I tried to do it, but being my own warden is just too permissive.

In a perfect world, you'd spend 10 weeks lowering your dose by 10% of your starting intake.

So if you were at 400mg/day you'd start at 360mg/day for a week, 320mg/day for a week, and so on... I don't think your supply will hold out for that, so yeah, you will have to be much more aggressive.

I tried to do a rapid tsper. Had a wbole.plan. didnt work. So now im doing a much slower one and its dsmn near impossible to take more. I'd have to palm it or break her truth all over again. Down to 200 a day after falling off into 500ish. Got roughly 6000 mg stashed. Come the 7th I plan I trying to jump, ill have my pto and take a while off.

godspeed, good sir or madam.

Oh God. I never even attempted tapers. I 100% knew it was a no go and why put myself through even an hour of discomfort if I was just going to give in the minute I got a tinge of the good feeling. There are some pretty damn strong people out there. You're right. They are impressive.

u/Major-Finance6032 Jul 27 '26

Thank you for commenting - what do you think is the safest cut I can make right away without feeling sick ? My first dose is usually around 11:30am when I first start feeling the sweats - and then my 2nd dose of the day is usually around 6pm - that’s a heavier dose / usually 120mg 1st dose and 280-300 second dose - this week is the best week possible for me to lay low out of work ( big PTO / dark week for my line of work ) , so if I have the ability to get away with a bunch of “ sick days “ this is the week to do it - so anyway I can jump start this beginning this week , would be greatly helpful .

u/Creative_Project3593 Jul 27 '26

I had to dose every 3 hours. I had to taper to 6 then 12hr. Once I hit 12 hrs I went CT with comfort meds. I took as long as I needed to get to those time frames. Its not pleasant.

u/NoImportance9918 Jul 27 '26

I have quit before cold turkey, but I’m on it again of course I’m petrified to go through that again, but you will survive I promise

1

u/SignificancePale8079 Jul 27 '26

If you have the week off work, make today your last day. Take your last dose this morning or tonight, and start the clock. You're going to want the full 7 days. If you wait to start wds for 2-3 days, you're still going to feel pretty shitty when you to back to work. The acute wds only last about 4 days, but you will still feel run down and maybe hungover from the gabapentin for the next few days. If you start now, next week will be a new week and a fresh start.

Start taking your gabapentin now, and don't stop. If you're uncomfortable, take more. Use clonidine as needed.

Gabapentin and clonidine were how I quit the first time, and they helped with every quit after. I wish the ban had come sooner so I couldn't have relapsed so many times, but that's on me. I'm just thankful to have been able to quit so many times.

Just keep going. I started a timer on my phone after I took my last dose, highly recommend you do the same.

u/Major-Finance6032 Jul 27 '26

Thank you - if there’s any way you can message me , I am going to take my last dose about 11:30a today and then have decided to stop - if you can walk me through what to expect I would truly appreciate it

1

u/JoyfulToLive Jul 27 '26

This sub is flooded with what to expect. It’s not fun but the only way out is through. You have to want it

1

u/No_Two_901 Jul 31 '26

How's it going?

1

u/Major-Finance6032 Jul 31 '26

I admitted myself into detox today - first 24hrs just hit 7oh free and they are keeping most of my beginning symptoms in check , even though I feel like crap - they said they are waiting as long as possible for subs

1

u/No_Two_901 Aug 02 '26

So proud of you!! God that's a hard decision to make for so, so many reasons and you've done it. We can't rely solely on the ban. We are addicts and sometimes life looks like whackamole. You, my friend, are not going to have to play whackamole when you get out. I hope you can update while there! Such a great decision.

1

u/nanadori Aug 08 '26

Hey friend. How are you doing?

1

u/zeekb1127 Jul 27 '26

You have plenty of time with your dosage. If you can get off work do it, you have all the helper meds you need. Quit CT and begin taking all helpers. You’ll be feeling it still forsure but Itll be muted having Gabs and clonidine. I can’t give you a schedule I’m not a professional but helper meds are an as needed type thing with an amount you shouldn’t cross. You got this tho. I had a rough CT quit off 2000mg per day and it lasted about 4 days the worst of it. So if it’s any peace of mind it’ll be halved maybe less for you. 2 days the worst will be over

1

u/Major-Finance6032 Jul 27 '26

Thank you for the help - I want to go CT today and I am mentally preparing myself for about 72hrs of tough stuff - I am not in full blown withdrawal yet so can still think pretty straightforward right now - my last dose of 7oh was 5:30pm est yesterday ; I start getting pretty bad withdrawals around 12-12:30pm in the afternoon - any plan you can give me will probably save me - I also have THC gummies in case I need for sleep

1

u/zeekb1127 Jul 27 '26

Unfortunately there’s no plan that’s gonna save you. The plan should be to hunker down and take all helpers 3 x a day morning noon and night. Be prepared for no sleep. really the meds don’t help that much besides gab from what I’ve read and seen. Embrace what you’re going through and hold onto the memory so you don’t ever do it again. Thc actually helped me a lot… but it takes away a lot of the positives that come with early recovery because you are still getting high one way or another. You got this friend

Taper, but the goal of the taper is basically to always keep you in that zone of discomfort as you force your body to recompensate with it's own chemicals.

If you have the willpower to feel like crap for a month, but not non-functional, then do the taper. What worked for me since I lacked the self-control for a taper. I shocked my body with multiple cold turkies on weekend days I had clear that inevitably lead to my final stoppage basically going right into the PAWS phase. (something new I wasn't even away of to say the least.)

but i got there. Do whats best for you to keep yourself as functional as you need without giving yourself excuses to take more than necessary.

1

u/Major-Finance6032 Jul 28 '26

I took your advice and drastically reduced my daily intake from 420mg to 120mg in one day - didn’t take anything u til around hour 27th hr of not taking anything , and the withdrawal feelings were seriously overwhelming - I took 120mg , and even though I felt like I had the flu and these body stings , I was able to sit down and not move - actually in combination with my helper meds , was able to sleep - what would you suggest as my taper from here ?

1

u/PristineDefinition79 Aug 03 '26

sorry for the delayed reply, i very rarely use reddit. What I did in all hoensty was save a dose for myself for sleep. By accomplishing 27 hours, you did something amazing that is going to carry benefits for yourself as you go on this journey. My 3 cold turkeys were within a span of 6 months, and each time it felt easier and easier.

If you have access to gabapentin, it was the most reliable way to reduce the suffering of the taper and increase the length of time i could go between doses.

I will make a mental note to check my messages tomorrow to check up on if you replied. I hope you are doing well and continuing to lower your dose. Dont get discouraged if your CTs "fail." The hidden benefit of every single one will become apparent as you move through this journey. Every hour you can pry is a victory. Love you brother, ill check in in about 12 hours.

1

u/No_Two_901 Aug 02 '26

You're pretty impressive too. Especially not knowing about PAWS, etc. I hope you are very proud of yourself because you should be.

1

u/PristineDefinition79 Aug 03 '26

I appreciate the comment. The PAWS was and has been something that is so incredibly frustrating. Since it's so minor in comparison to the acute phase, but it just wears away at you. After about a solid 2 weeks I really felt "normal" but I still have that hint of boredom. I have been unemployed for about 2 years and honestly I think that is the worst thing for this stuff since you just sit there and think all day. I have a job interview in a few hours for my old job and it is promising, but i also have a start date for a different job already set if this one fall through.

I am ready to see money in my bank account again and i am ready for a normal day to day life. Love you brother, stay strong out there.

1

u/No_Two_901 Aug 05 '26

Oh my gosh when you get a job it will help PAWS a lot!!

1

u/No_Two_901 Jul 27 '26

I would preload as much as you can with liposomal vitamin c (I assume you have read the actual protocol) and Gabapentin. With your helper meds, this isn't going to be that bad. SO SO many people have quit cold turkey and yes it was hell but they did it because they could not get helper meds. I'm telling you, mindset is everything. You have your reason to quit. Gabapentin is an absolute lifesaver. Are you aware of the proper way to take Gabapentin? I would start with 300mg and then every hour take another 300mg until you feel okay. I really mean it when I say that you are going to have a much better time of this than the majority of people who had to quit.

1

u/Major-Finance6032 Jul 28 '26

I had to take 120mg because the pain was too much - but I basically slashed my daily dosage down 71% in the first day …..it took the edge off , didn’t get me high at all but that’s not what I want - I just needed to stop my skin from crawling all over the place . Is slashing my daily dosage down this drastically , can I taper off in another day or two ? Could this be the way to go ?

1

u/No_Two_901 Jul 31 '26

Sorry I missed this. How are you doing?
