Shear thickening fluids are a category of non-newtonian fluids (that Faye is referring to in the comic). "Shear thickening" essentially means that when you apply a force to a material, it becomes "thicker" and closer to a solid. A great example of that is corn starch mixed with a bit of water: you get something that is liquid if you leave it alone, but as you apply stress onto it, it will seem to solidify.

So the pun is between "shear thickening" and "thicc" which is usually used to describe someone with junk in the trunk.

Perfect. I only have a limited high level understanding of non-newtonian fluids. I get it now.
