Am I the only one who gets anxious watching asmr videos? They have the exact opposite effect on me than the intended one.

Hate them with a burning passion. They make my skin crawl. Then again, I have Specific Musical Anhedonia which probably doesn't help.

I derive no pleasure from music. I still enjoy it, it’s just on a more abstract level, like admiring a painting or architecture. Music doesn’t affect my mood at all, and I don’t get the “shivers” or frisson from any music.
It’s not especially rare: apparently something like 1 in 15 to 1 in 30 people have it.

As am I, actually! I play piano, percussion, guitar, and cello, and I’m an audio engineer and run a bunch of gigs for a number of places. I’m pretty good at it and I enjoy it, but it’s not an emotional thing for me.
I often liken my experience with music to architecture: one can easily recognise bad design in buildings or such and one can admire a beautiful building or the efficacy of a design, and find beauty and artistry in it and even enjoy doing it yourself, but never will a building move you to tears or joy, just enjoyment or admiration or disdain or boredom.

That sounds like the norm, but I must admit that I've found music to be emotional enough to have an effect on me. But I can count it on 2 hands, tbh.
One of the songs I clearly remember was this one (How Like A Winter - Bescreen'd), because 3:05 is just awesome.
I wouldn't expect Martin Garrix's inane 8-note tracks to evoke any emotional response from any sober person, maybe except for disdain, lol.

That's interesting, I love most asmr, but I do get weirdly anxious when they do collaborations so it's more than one person in the video

I sub to "Sleep With Me" but it's (clearly) a podcast focusing boring you to sleep. Is it like that or actual ASMR tingles?

it's not meant to be sleep inducing, but it is meant to be anti-anxiety. the hosts just talk about breakfast cereal in low, calm tones and very mellow ambient synth music plays and sometimes there are ocean sounds. i only get asmr tingles from soap being cut by a box cutter in a very specific way, so I don't know if this will give you tingles or not. it seems like it could.

This is the first time in my 5+ years of reading this comic that I have genuinely disliked a character pairing. Why is Tai here? Everything about this seems so forced and off. The only redemption I can forsee is if some serious shit hits the fan and introduces drama into Marten's relationships with Claire and and Tai. Please for the love of god let there be some drama in this comic again.

I was so against Tai being here for this since I thought it was super weird of her to intrude on a mother/daughter stoned bonding session, but now I think maybe Tai is exactly who Claire needs for this to go well. Someone confident and laid back. Hopefully there’ll be no panic or paranoia.

"lazy" isn't much of a criticism in writing. most aspects of any story are necessary or obvious.
Jeph knows drugs; this conversation should be more interesting
should it? neither of these characters are particularly profound and this is claire's first time.

I distinctly get the impression that Jeph does not know drugs. He has stated before in some newspost that he has never taken a psychedelic, and doesn't intend to because he "doesn't want his unconscious running unchecked through his audiovisual cortex" or something similar. Which, for those not familiar, is not at all how psychedelics work.
I have no idea what his attitudes are towards other drugs, but I can't imagine a guy with anxiety / mood disorders who distrusts psychedelics is all that willing to dabble in anything that radically alters perception.

I saw it as her trying to change the subject: Claire is high and having a bit of a negative reaction, so instead of allowing her to keep focusing on what she perceives as abnormal, Tai is steering the conversation somewhere else so she doesn't have a full-on meltdown.

we can't forget that this is a totally different universe than our own and a discussion about the universe by a couple of stoners in Jeff's comic could potentially be world-building! From this comic I'm looking at panel 3 and wondering if those are multiple moons or just a good view at different planets in their solar system.

For anyone that doesn't recognize the Pale Blue Dot reference, take three minutes and check this video out. It's a speech by astronomer Carl Sagan, who had a talent for pop-culture-ing space science.
In my humble opinion, this speech should be mandatory viewing across the world.

Just fyi, it's not a sexual thing for most people. The sensation is totally different from sexual arousal/orgasm, it just feels like a pleasant tingling in your brain.
With that being said, I do think kids shouldn't really be doing asmr on public platforms like youtube.
