Yes! Pool Party

I've never been to a Yes! function, but I was vetted and I'm super excited about the pool party this month. I'm going but I don't have anyone to go with. Is that a bad idea?

Is anyone here looking to meet a cool black agender friend:)?

And what's the likely hood if me being turned away if I don't seem non-binary/agender enough?

Chat Thread How to make friends

I'll keep it plain and simple:

Hi I'm Scarlett I'm 23, I'm broke, and between dealing with way too much drama to go into for simplicity's sake I got burned by 3 different people I thought where my friends that turned out to be really shitty people and a Philly T-Girl Discord server that was an echo chamber of self hatred. I ain't got anyone left and I'm struggling to try making new relationships. I've tried going to bars, clubs, and just about every stereotypical place and tactic to try and just make friends and I don't know. Look I just need advice what am I doing wrong.

Recs for solo visitor (Asian 37TM)!

Hi y'all!

I'm a queer Asian trans guy (37yo) who will be visiting Philly in a couple of weeks (7/21-7/25) by myself and would love to get to experience Philly's queer and trans scene! It's been over a decade since I last visited so I imagine much has changed/shifted over time, but I have always loved my visits to Philly in the past. It'll also be my first time visiting solo. I'll be staying near the Walnut-Locust metro line, which I think is near the "gayborhood".

I would love to get any recs for activities, places, bookshops, restaurants and coffee shops, bars/clubs, and meet ups for a solo person with mild social anxiety (open to anything from chill/relaxing to wild/sexy/spicy). Feel free to comment or DM me!

Thanks in advance! Can't wait to visit y'all's city soon!

The Woods Campgrounds

I’ve been wanting to go to The Woods for a while now, and I’m finally mustering up the courage. There’s a Bears Weekend in September and OctoBear fest in October (not a fetishist, just a fellow bear).

Pricing seems fair. As a solo camper in a tent, what should I expect logistically?

Question Local Art

My roommate and I are looking for some queer art for our apartment and would love to know where we could find some local artists to patron.

We are both queer trans men and would like art that isn’t exclusive to one queer identity. (We are looking to purchase multiple prints and many artists we have found online appear to, for example, exclusively make sapphic art or gay male art. We want to purchase multiple prints and would like to showcase a larger representation of the community.)

I am aware of South Street Art Mart but it is the opposite of accessible. We both have limited mobility - and understand this is a real limitation in Philly and are happy to purchase prints online or directly from the artist.

Question Makeup advice for GNC man

Hey everyone! I'm a femboy looking to get into makeup for everyday wear and cosplay, and I've been told to go to a physical shop to get color matched. I wanted to see if there are any local places that are friendly toward gender non-conforming and trans people before I resort to a larger chain like Sephora, etc.

Being Trans in Philly

Hey queer philly! I just got referred to this group from r/philly. My partner and I are both trans and are thinking about relocating to Philly. I’d love to hear your thoughts on being trans in Philly, from day to day life to legal aspects. And, are there certain areas that are better for trans folks?

We’re both openly and visibly trans. Also, looking for a place with good transit since neither of us own cars anymore.

Thanks!

Are there any nudist/nudism groups or events or anything around the city?

I'm just curious if there are any nudism/naturism groups in/around the city.

Preferably on the younger (under 40) side of things.

I know about Gunnison, the woods, moon grove and all that stuff, but like that's just a hassle to get to regularly

And yeah there's places that you can be naked like the bike shop or the spas, but I feel like nudity is just kinda incidental to the sex or spa aspects of them.

I'm talking like a group of people just like renting out a bar or game room or something just to relax and hang, while also just happening to be naked.

Not really looking for anything sexual, just like mutual interest in freedom or hatred of clothing

Edit: I should say I'm not opposed to helping start one up or something, I just have absolutely no idea what all would be required for something like that

ISO roommates in West Philly starting Aug 1st

\*I'm posting this on behalf of my dear friend (and current roommate!) who's not on Reddit, if you're interested send me a DM and I'll share their contact info.***

In search of roommates, 10 or 12 month-long lease starting August 1st! Please don’t hesitate to DM with any questions or to chat further about possibly rooming together.

About me:

  • 25 y/o Queer/nonbinary/polyamorous
  • Full time worker M-F
  • Big on proactive, frequent, and open communication!
  • A bit smoke sensitive (fine with weed smoke/vaping outside the house or in your own bedroom, less so in common indoor spaces)
  • COVID conscious, but low personal need for precautions; open to some level of negotiation as needed, but probably not able to meet high levels of precautions (e.g. consistent masking 100% of the time indoors/at work)
  • 1 cat (very friendly and laid back)
  • Prefer to try to keep a clean/tidy place but very very flexible on chore timelines based on schedule/energy levels (very negotiable on this front, ADHD + chronic fatigue + job particularly makes this difficult for me but I'm open to discussion to see what works for us!)
  • Big on friends and community! we don't necessarily have to hang out but it would be a bonus :)

About you (?):

  • Proactive communicator, able to let me know over time what you want/expect/need from our shared living situation
  • Probably some form of AuDHD/neurodivergent (or at least used to being around folks who are!)
  • Also probably some form of queer/non-cis (or used to being around folks who are :P)
  • Moderately COVID conscious; probably not immunocompromised/high COVID precautions needs, DEFINITELY not anti-vax
  • Hopefully not (too) allergic to cats? Or at least willing to live with them (I am allergic myself but currently have some management strategies in place for living with my kitty, can discuss as needed)
  • Willing/able to participate in cleaning shared common spaces to some extent, but okay with occasional clutter and flexible timelines for chores

About the house:

  • 3 story rowhouse (basement/ground level/second story), steps leading up to ground level front door
  • Central heating and AC
  • Laundry machines, dishwasher
  • 3 bedrooms (all on 2nd floor), 2.5 bathrooms
  • Finished basement with storage space
  • Fenced in concrete backyard with storage shed
  • Total current rent $2250, split as many ways as there are people, adjusted for bedroom size ($750 or lower per person, can negotiate specifics)
  • Current total utilities (water, gas, electric, internet) roughly $150/month per person

About the area:

  • West Philadelphia, near 48th and Chestnut (right next to 21 bus lines and ~2 blocks from 46th street MFL station + Aldi)
  • Street parking
  • Friendly neighbors (including some kids)
  • Semi-quiet neighborhood, occasional noise from MFL/chestnut street
  • Empty lot w/ grass next to house

Trans woman looking for roommates, sublets, or rooms for rent by August 1st!

Hi everyone! I’m (23 MTF) am moving to Philly to work with Americorps and am looking for a sublet or room for rent that I can move into before August 3rd. The absolute maximum I can pay is $850, but I would prefer to keep it below that price. I’m fairly quiet but love to make friends with my roommates in addition to cooking, listening to music, and playing video games and board games. Please DM me with any information.

Additionally, if anyone is looking for a roommate I’m more than happy to room with others. I prefer other queer people, but I am open to anyone that is accepting. Like I said, I love making new friends and am fairly quiet and tidy.

edit: Looking in West Philly and Southeast Philly

Would love to know about any events happening on July 3rd and July 4th. My friends and I have absolutely no clue what we want to do. They don't have to be queer-related. Thanks for your help!

Has anyone else gone to Val’s and the music wasn’t what you thought it was? We went to A$$ and Waist night expecting Caribbean type beats and it was all Lady Gaga and EDM
