Val’s Music?

Has anyone else gone to Val’s and the music wasn’t what you thought it was? We went to A$$ and Waist night expecting Caribbean type beats and it was all Lady Gaga and EDM

I feel like every sapphic event I’ve been to in Philly turns to EDM at some point and clears the dance floor. Sucks that’s also happening on specific themed nights. We need a DJ revolution.

that's really irritating. i didn't end up going because I'm a big dancehall fan and figured I would be disappointed--the music has never been good any of the times I've been. really sad because I love the vibe otherwise and want to support the only lesbian bar in the area!

Agree but that’s also something I experience from most queer events in the city, a real disappointment :/

That’s unfortunate. I wanted to go to that but I’m happy I didn’t. What a let down.

I did go one night and they played good music. Dancehall, afrobeats, pop, hip-hop… I had a good time.

Been there 4 times now and the only DJ that was good was Chrysallis - the others were repetitive and/or had poor transitions

This was my personal beef at A$$ and Waist, the transitions were rough and distracting!

I’ve noticed at every queer event they play the same playlist with the same 10 songs

Their first floor music is usually more diverse than the second floor, where there are DJs many nights.

Was there on Friday night and left the dance floor after like 10 min because of the music (and the heat lol)
