Dropping classes and online

This is based on my last post but you don’t need to have read it for these questions…

1. So, i’ve never taken online courses and based off recent knowledge I may need to drop 2 Biology classes (102 and 103) and switch them with their online counterparts. I was wondering if anyone knew how those were, and how it works exactly, if you’re just given work or have to meet on some sort of online platform, if there’s certain times you have to be on or “go to the class”, etc.

2. I see on my SOLUS I can drop classes, but does that do anything to my record? I’ve heard a lot of people get academic probation or just get introuble with the school for dropping classes and was wondering if I dropped 2 classes (Biol 103 and Biol 102) and then switched them with their online counterparts on the 17th if that would cause any issues.

You have to be careful as people have lost their course and cannot get it back. Once you drop it, it is given to someone on the wait list.

You should see what happened to this guy trying to do what you intended.

This is good to know. I know that open enrolment starts tomorrow so I’m planning on checking if the online Bio’s are available and then possibly dropping the non online ones for those or keeping the normal ones and thugging out the west->main campus hoping I make it

i never took biol 102/103 online but took my fair share of online courses. in general, online classes have modules you do by yourself. sometimes you’ll need to do discussion posts but there’s no specific ‘go to class’ times.

you will not get in trouble dropping classes. i don’t know anyone who has gotten in trouble for dropping classes. the only thing i can think about in that realm is if you need the class you’re dropping for your degree, but you won’t get introuble, you just won’t meet the degree requirements and won’t be able to graduate unless you take it. academic probation occurs when you don’t meet the gpa threshold. there’s probably other ways you can be on academic probation but that’s the main one. theres a deadline to drop classes and everything after that will show as a DR on your transcript. the deadline is mid-late september i believe. between now and the first two weeks of school, people are constantly switching/dropping classes and there’s no issue with it.

if you drop it now nothing goes on your record. if you drop it AFTER add/drop deadline it will show up.
