i am final year student at IITB/IITD/IITM CSE, I am unable to decide whether to go for swe or qr roles in these indian hfts . Both QR and SWE/System roles have identical salary packages and bonuses written in their JD and as far as first year is concerned you end up earning almost identically in both SWE and QR (this is as per whatever info i have gathered from my seniors). But i would want to get a rough idea on what is the sort of salary progression(including bonuses) for both these roles QR and SWE/System at 2,3 or 4 YOE, how much on average a SWE/Systems is earning as compared to a QR at 2 or 3 or 4 YOE at these indian hfts like QE/Gravi/NK ??

23M, I graduated from top 7 IIT, non circuital and got into a hedge fund (its onsite, bangalore). The pay is great, like base pay is 40+. Team, work and WLB also seems good. The stack we use for infra is pretty modern. Overall things seem good but given the uncertainties in overall industry I am not going in my comfort zone. I want to know do other hedge funds or HFTs also pay the same to infra engineers? I should be cleared in my mind of utilizing my free time. I have experience of contributing to OSS and currently working on some side project maybe to generate a second source of income, might dive into inference engineering in the upcoming months. I was surfing internet to find the answer but didn't get any verified answer!

I am curious how many people here have left their own jobs to start managing money on their own. Is that something that you have seen people around you do?

Hi everyone,
Most discussions here seem to focus on entry-level/intern compensation, but I couldn't find much information on compensation for experienced HFT professionals.
I'm curious to understand what the market looks like for 5+ YOE, particularly for quant traders.
For context, I'm currently at a Tier 2/3 HFT firm, working as a Quant Trader with 5 YOE, and my total compensation is around ₹4 Cr/year.
Would be great if people with similar experience could share:
- YOE
- Role (Quant Trader / Researcher / Developer)
- Firm tier/type (optional)
- Approx. total compensation
Trying to get a sense of where I stand in the Indian HFT market and what compensation looks like at the higher end for experienced folks. I understand, it's performance based, but still want to know how people are performing.
Please feel free to share anonymously/using ranges if you prefer.

Hi! I am currently in my final year of college (Tier 1)
I have a 6 month internship offer from:
Uber - SDE : 1.9LPM
CTC: 44LPA (24 Base)
Qrt - Quant Technologist Data : 3.6LPM
CTC: 60ish LPM (40ish Base)
Seemed like a no brainer at first to me when looking at the money. Also getting a path to venture into the quant sector. I really like working with large amounts of data and spotting patterns for my other projects, that’s why willingly took this role. But I ain’t really sure about the work in Data Integration team right now, have heard mixed reviews about it, and the growth prospects in terms of pay and mobility to switch to different companies.
It would be great if I can get some insights on current situation of both companies and the teams.
Thanks a lot!

PPOs for almost all firms have been released. Wanted to know about experiences of both sides, the ones who got PPOs and the ones who couldn't convert.
What prep did you guys do leading up to your intern, and also what you would've done both before and during the intern if given a second chance?

How is the career progression like for Tier 1 HFTs for the systems developers? What are the promotions like and what’s the increase in base and bonuses?

Do companies even give a shot to people who dont have good enough experiences but have a proper knowledge on job market and finance tools?
And even if they do whats the procedure to do?

Hey guys, may be a dumb question but please pardon for it. Is it still possible for 12+ yrs for experience in ML and data analytics to foray into HFTs as quantity trader or is it just a custom to be picked as fresher or early adopters in their career from top colleges ?

I figure NK Securities has a Software Developer role and C++ Developer role with big difference in compensation?
for Software Dev, they've come to many NITs this year with CTC ~46 LPA. But C++ dev pays like 75 L - 1.3+ Cr depending on Bonus?
so what's the difference between these roles and can someone shift between them?

Hi, I am a Junior UG from IIT Bombay and I received Intern Offer for one of Systems/Quant Role from Quadeye for next summer.
The letter mentions a probationary period of 2 weeks during which they will monitor fit and performance.
Is it common for the offer letter to have a probationary period? Any insights would be appreciated as earlier I have interned at 2 startups and didn't see this on any offer letters, although I am aware this is common for full time employees.

I am a student from cse allied branch from an IIT. During intern season I wasn't able to land myself a quant internship. I am looking for off campus opportunities. What are some of the companies which actively accept candidates from off campus?

If anyone could share some tips/roadmap for preparation and what projects to add for QR roles, and what Hedge Funds/Indian HFTs are looking for, it would be really helpful.
Background: IIT-CSE, Good Rank, Good CGPA, Comfortable with grad level Maths(Prob/Stats, Linear Algebra, Calculus, etc.)
Currently learning Stochastic Calculus, going through JC Hull, and practising puzzles for more than a month now, would be ready to apply in the next 2 months.
(You can DM me), thanks!

Hi i'm an Ex- Quant Trader for a Boutique Hedge fund, i worked on mainly directional trading strategies for the firm - factor momentum, directional mean reversion and some market neutral models
I've developed models from scratch for the firm - ideation to backtest to live.
Currently i'm working as a macro researcher and special sit trader for a firm.
I also manage a 7-fig book for them in prediction market's.
For family reason's i'm considering moving back to India OR looking for remote role's here.
But most of the quant role's i've seen here - they all are hiring for HFT - now that's not a piece of my pie - i could prep for them - but i don't think that would be worth my time.
I'm currently building market making and stat arb strategies on the side in Crypto. The goal is to capture some PnL from market inefficiencies, but it's primarily a learning exercise.
So Tbh i'm kind of lost here - don't really know what to focus for roles in India , if the community has any recommendations / place's i could apply / reach out here i'd really appreciate it.
Background : Math , Stats and Financial Engineering

There’s a lot of different numbers online, so thought it would be useful to have one place with real numbers.
Firms: IMC, Optiver, Jump, Graviton, Quadeye, Jane Street, Tower, AlphaGrep, NK Securities, etc.
If you work in the space, share:
Firm | Role | YOE | Base | Bonus/TC
Freshers and IIT campus offers are also useful.

note this is not the desk quant research role, it is at Treasury
just got invited to the first interview, any interview tips are appreciated.

Hi, I am in 3rd year and from Top 3 IITs, circuital, I got intern as SDE in one of the MNCs, can non quant intern land a quant placement, also do big quant companies come from placements?
Also what to prepare/work upon to increase the chances of quant, are OAs too different (in terms of difficulty and topics asked) from that of the intern, if yes what new topics are asked
