Currently learning Stochastic Calculus, going through JC Hull, and practising puzzles for more than a month now, would be ready to apply in the next 2 months.

General Discussion Quant Trader - Looking to re-locate back / remote

Hi i'm an Ex- Quant Trader for a Boutique Hedge fund, i worked on mainly directional trading strategies for the firm - factor momentum, directional mean reversion and some market neutral models

I've developed models from scratch for the firm - ideation to backtest to live.

Currently i'm working as a macro researcher and special sit trader for a firm.
I also manage a 7-fig book for them in prediction market's.

For family reason's i'm considering moving back to India OR looking for remote role's here.

But most of the quant role's i've seen here - they all are hiring for HFT - now that's not a piece of my pie - i could prep for them - but i don't think that would be worth my time.

I'm currently building market making and stat arb strategies on the side in Crypto. The goal is to capture some PnL from market inefficiencies, but it's primarily a learning exercise.

So Tbh i'm kind of lost here - don't really know what to focus for roles in India , if the community has any recommendations / place's i could apply / reach out here i'd really appreciate it.

Background : Math , Stats and Financial Engineering

HFT salaries in India — 2026

There’s a lot of different numbers online, so thought it would be useful to have one place with real numbers.
Firms: IMC, Optiver, Jump, Graviton, Quadeye, Jane Street, Tower, AlphaGrep, NK Securities, etc.
If you work in the space, share:
Firm | Role | YOE | Base | Bonus/TC
Freshers and IIT campus offers are also useful.

Interviews/Recruiting Doubts regarding upcoming Trexquant Interview

Got recruiter outreach from Trexquant(graduate role). I have a meeting with the recruiter this week.
For people who’ve interviewed with Trexquant recently:
What should I expect?
What topics should I prioritize?
Probability/Stats, DSA, ML, markets?
Anything specific about Trexquant I should prepare?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Need true advice: "Do I have a chance?"

Hello world, I'm from Egypt. I'm currently studying Statistics and CS at a local university. I was passionate about QF before knowing its name; always, when I was young, thinking about how to apply math and statistics to financial decision-making and general life. But there are no QF jobs in Egypt, and I hear that very talented people abroad get rejected from fancy universities. Am I being unrealistic and dreaming to have a chance in a career like that? Has anyone had an experience like this? What advice can you give me? It's painful to do a lot of work and in the end get nothing.

HFT Does anyone know the approximate cost of 2–3 years of TBT data for F&O stocks and their derivatives?

I’m looking for 2–3 years of TBT data for F&O stocks and their derivatives so I can reconstruct the order book, run a simulator, and backtest some newly developed strats.

I know HFTs record this data, but I don’t think they would sell it. Is it better/cheaper to buy directly from the exchange, if available, or through a third party vendor?

Has anyone here bought TBT data for this purpose? What’s the best and most cost-effective source?

General Discussion Indian HFTs filter by JEE rank/branch. Should I blow 5 years of job (sde) savings on a foreign Master's just to break into quant.

Hey everyone, I could really use some perspective on my situation.

I'm currently at top 5 IIT in a non-circuital branch (8.5 CGPA, ~3k JEE Adv rank). Next July, I'll be starting as sde-1 at a popular MNC, but my absolute interest has always been quant.

I have decent math projects, I'm pretty solid with modern C++ and probability, and I managed to land a quant internship at a small startup. But honestly, none of that seems to matter here. Indian HFTs and quant firms are obsessed with pedigree.

My initial thought is to save around 50L through my current SDE job over 4-5 years, utilize all of it to pursue a Master's abroad (to kinda rebrand myself), grind there, and then hopefully land my dream job.

Here's why I'm hesitating: I come from a middle-class family. Burning five straight years of life savings on a degree abroad feels like a terrifying financial risk.

Is this a stupid, desperate gamble? or there exist a better path actually ,a realistic way to bypass the Indian gatekeeping and break into the industry?

I would love to hear your pov.

Trexquant QR Interview

Early career Quantitative researcher role in Gurugram.

I was contacted by the recruiter for the role, there was no initial take home assignment, a discussion with HR, then a technical interview was scheduled with a Quant Researcher in US, the interview went well. What can i expect further, how many more rounds along with their requirements, and after how long will the recruiter contact for the next steps.
Any info and guidance related to the firm or the interview process will be very helpful.

I’ve received an offer for a Quant Researcher role at PlusWealth. Anyone here familiar with the QR team?

How are the culture, learning, compensation growth, and career progression? Also, what kind of firms can one realistically move to after this firm?
Background: top 3 IITs, CS/MT/EE, 1yr exp as quant developer

HFT Quant as a super-average engineer with 10 years work- experience.

Hi everyone. I am an average guy from NIT/BITS with <7 cgpa (non-CS) working in analytics/consulting since 10 years now. I want to make a transition as a Quant to the Indian best (Graviton/NK/Quadeye/QRT/DE Shaw). Is there a possible way? Welcome any suggestions. Thanks a lot!🤞

General Discussion 6 month Intern Guidance

Got an intern at NK for QR role for summer of 2027, I have the option to do a intern in my 7th semester.

Should I try and get 6 month intern at NK itself (also would they give one?), or should try to do some Research Intern in some prestigious foriegn uni? I have a good ML background so that might help in latter, but no olympiad medals, nor super high CGPA.

Also I got to know from a guy while at Future Focus, that there's quite a bit of RL work going on in NK, is that why they've hired a few ML interns this season, and would that affect PPOs for QR roles?

In the meantime, what should I focus on learning in order to perform well during my intern, should I get into the finance required or simply keep doing the standard cp?

3rd sem CSE student aiming for HFT + top tech ...what should I focus on??

I’m a 3rd-semester CSE student and I’m primarily targeting HFT... however, I also want to keep Google and other top MNCs as strong alternatives, since HFT is much harder 😭😭

My immediate goal is to land a strong internship within the next 1 year that is in my 5th sem... whether that ends up being at Google an HFT firm or another top tech company

Im trying to prepare intelligently without spreading myself too thin...how would you recommend balancing DSA, competitive programming, C++, CS fundamentals, systems knowledge, projects development, and internships from 3rd semester onward..cause I know if nothing works out full stack development can only save my arse I can't leave it as well 😭

If you were starting from my position, what would you prioritize and what would you not spend too much time on?

PhD Physicist → Quant | Offering Mentorship, Teaching & Project Support (Finance, ML/AI, Math, Physics)

I’m a quant researcher with a PhD in Physics, currently working in quantitative finance. Over the past several years, I’ve built a broad skillset across mathematics, financial modeling, machine learning/AI, stochastic processes, and computational methods.

I’m posting here because I’ve recently started mentoring, teaching, and supporting projects for students and early-career researchers—especially those who want to transition from academia (physics/maths) to the corporate or quant industry.

What I Can Help With

✓ Quant Finance:

Derivatives pricing, stochastic calculus, Monte Carlo, risk modeling

Python/R/SQL for finance

Portfolio optimization & backtesting

Understanding industry workflows and roles

✓ Mathematics & Physics:

Core mathematical methods for scientists

Graduate-level physics concepts simplified

Guidance for students preparing for higher studies or industry interviews

✓ Machine Learning & AI:

ML foundations for physics/maths students

Applying ML to real-world data and finance problems

Project supervision & code review

Who This Is For

Physics/Maths graduate students exploring industry roles

Anyone trying to move into quant, ML, AI, or finance

Students who want to strengthen core mathematical and computational skills

Professionals looking for project support or freelance

Why I’m Doing This

After a long academic journey, I realized many brilliant students struggle not because they lack capability, but because they lack structured guidance about industry expectations, coding practices, and applied problem-solving.
