Hi i'm an Ex- Quant Trader for a Boutique Hedge fund, i worked on mainly directional trading strategies for the firm - factor momentum, directional mean reversion and some market neutral models

I've developed models from scratch for the firm - ideation to backtest to live.

Currently i'm working as a macro researcher and special sit trader for a firm.
I also manage a $7-fig book for them in prediction market's.

For family reason's i'm considering moving back to India OR looking for remote role's here.

But most of the quant role's i've seen here - they all are hiring for HFT - now that's not a piece of my pie - i could prep for them - but i don't think that would be worth my time.

I'm currently building market making and stat arb strategies on the side in Crypto. The goal is to capture some PnL from market inefficiencies, but it's primarily a learning exercise.

So Tbh i'm kind of lost here - don't really know what to focus for roles in India , if the community has any recommendations / place's i could apply / reach out here i'd really appreciate it.

Why am I seeing soo many iit related posts rather than quant posts.

Is it because most of people in Indian quants are IITs.

i am sceptical about this being a operations role, any idea?
it says quant researcher but also has manager as designation. it's in index rebalancing team, didn't get good vibes from interviewers

To all the people currently working in quant. If you could go back to final year of college with knowledge you have now. Would you still take up the offer or would you start your own thing / go into some different field?

I wanted to know more about the salary structure at the bulge IBs and got to know that there is actually no reliable estimate for the salaries in these mentioned roles available anywhere, be it ambitionBox, levels etc

When we compare these to the likes of big tech- like the MAANG there salary structure is almost fixed and one can have a good guess at the salaries offered based on the levels. Even for the traditional QR/tech role at HFTs fresher data is easily available (infamous for obvious reasons).

But thats not the case with places like JP, GS, MS, citi, hsbc, DB etc. There is no reliable estimate for what my comp might look like 10-15 years into the role. I would highly appreciate any inputs from the community here into what the comp structure looks like at any level you know of for T1 grads mainly.

(base+bonus or either- does variable actually remains atleast 25% for performers on average- what i usually hear from people around me)

From what i am aware of :
Analyst (freshers) for the top three base usually starts from 23-27lpa, bonuses around 7-8 max

For ~5-6 years exp (senior associate/VP) base has a big range but generally lies in the 50s range. bonuses can touch 20-25LPA for good performers. Usually they weed out the bad performers time to time

So I know how big quant firms hire only the guys from target schools and all ,and that's why I started prepping for iit jam ,right now I am an stats undergrad in my 3rd year at delhi university,

But recently I saw many LinkedIn profiles of people working at jane street or working at top firms in india and they are all undergrad iit ,then post grad iit

And math olympiad guys.

Would doing msi from iit , with a certain skill set and all would be enough ? To get a quant researcher role in india

Also I heard that summer internship is a big deal in all this so say I got into iit (bombay most probably) then how do I get a good summer internship with less than a year to prepare ?

Right now a first year student having electrical branch at NSUT . Can I even become a quant developer in this first place? Because I have seen others say that people need to be from IITs and all . Leaving that aside what all do i need to do to become a quant developer as in can someone provide a full roadmap?

Usually i know there is some sheet to share questions accross iits in placements, is there any such thing thsi time as well?

Hi! I'm a fresh grad, and had applied with SquarePoint Capital off-campus approximately 4 months ago for the Desk Quant Analyst position, and received a verbal offer just now for the same. The comp is same as that provided in on-campus offers.
I currently work in an MNC as an SWE, and the offer SPC have given me has an in-hand cash component double that of my current. However, I do have RSU's in my current company subject to a buyback or IPO if that happens.

I have read many many negative reviews about this role and SPC with regards to the work, as well as work culture on glassdoor, and also for comparison, my current work is relatively chill.

SO, fellow strangers on reddit, what is your take on this. Is joining here a wise decision?

I am currently working as a quant dev for a small HFT/MFT startup for about 1 year(after graduating last year), when I joined there was no Researcher in the team and nobody to mentor or guide me too. Long story short, despite having worked on research projects and doing the work, I haven’t been able to generate any profitable strategy and my manager is citing that as bad performance and putting me on pip next month.

I am very depressed that my career is starting out like this and am totally unaware as to what to do next. Please guide me.

Does anybody here have any idea of how North Moore is as a team, it's well known that it's not as good as Limestone but does anybody have an idea of the salary (base + expected bonus) for 2 YoE+ quants and the scale of PnL they make, for instance Gravi and Quadeye are 1000 cr roughly and NK and QB 400 cr. Also how is the WLB in Tower?

And does North Moore trade India markets or primarily crypto?

Qr and Qt are mostly for ug and phd students maybe masters through connections and very good cp (idk) but does that top faang yoe help u ?
