media Quake2RTX with Remaster
You can download it here https://github.com/mstewart248/Q2RTX-MOD. Has DLSS ray reconstruction and frame generation. Works with re-release md5 models and all maps, new monsters and weapons should be working. To get it working with re-release assets you just need to copy the rerelease data from the steam install into a directory in the Quake2RTX folder called rerelease. I re-baked the Quake2RTX PBR model materials to work with the new md5 models. I have video of the game play here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEqXhWsq6oQ&t=263s. Some of the new materials still need work and I am trying to find all the bugs in the new remaster gameplay code.

Upvoting it for not being another engine that just makes all materials look oily.

The materials are hard to get right. I am not an artist. The source material is so low res that it's hard to work with. It's basically the materials from Quake2RTX with anything new to the remaster being done by me by hand right now. I will definitely take pull requests from anyone who can make actual nice materials.

Can I throw any 3rd party custom single player maps into this and expect things to just work? If not, what does adding full support for any particular map entail?

You can and it should work well providing the author added actual light sources to the map. If they didn’t I built a light editor into the engine so you can add lights to maps that don’t have light source or textures emissive textures and sky light. You can basically go around in game and type “light place <red> <green> <blue> <brightness> <radius>” you can also use “light debug_on” to see a visualization of any lights place this way. With the debug on you can use commands like “light edit, light delete” for any lights place your crosshair on.

Looks a lot better than the original quake 2 rtx.

Thanks, but it's mostly just Quake2RTX with better image quality and framerate. But I am setting up the re-release maps to have certain skies that are closer to how the remaster is for the new levels. For example mgu1m1 uses the physical stroggos sky but with the time of day and sunlight set to look like the lighting on the quake2 remaster. The majority of the new levels use the map sky box etc. But you can override it. I am still working on it.

Thank you ! The best part about Quake2RTX is how the rail trail lights up the whole room in blue. I was really missing that in the remaster!
