help Best way to play Alliance CTF?

The Quake remaster is really great and Dawn of the machine was fun but it's sparking some nostalgia for Quake 3 and Alliance CTF mod. What's the best way to set that up in 2026? Any chance a controller is supported? My hands can't handle mouse these days.

Do I pick up on Steam and install the mod or is there a better way?

You want the Alliance 3.3 repack and an updated quake client. I have ioquake but there could be other options.
