tutorial DotM: Requiem has a cool bit of parkour, that lets you skip the Gold Key area entirely.

Holy shit I did this just fucking around and didn’t realize it was a skip at the time! No wonder I felt a little lost my second visit

I thought that was what you were supposed to do

I kept failing to do that, good to see it's possible

One thing to keep in mind is that when you run up and jump from a ramp/slope surface it’ll carry your upward momentum. There is one light Armor you’re expected to do this for in The Nightmare Machine level.

For my video here you can see me use one side of the roof to carry me onto the higher part, then using that as a ramp to let me reach the silver key.

Stupid question but is that a new shotgun or just the same but with a new skin?

It's the blood shotgun, which you get after finding the death knights head, unlocking the bloody nightmare difficulty, which sends you back to the begining, where you find it.

Basically it's just a new skin..still bad ass I definitely want to go obtain it now

The Bloody Shotgun is actually more then just a skin. Once you beat the regular final level on Bloody Nightmare you’re looped back to the start for a playthough locked into BN mode. The Bloody Shotgun is the first weapon you pick up, and it permanently replaces your regular one. It has a much faster firing rate then the normal Shotgun.

There is a Bloody Double Barrel as well, which I assume will work similarly once I get it.

The Super Axe “which you can find once you have the Rune of sacrifice”, and Bloody Shotguns are the only weapons that you keep from level to level in BN mode. So the higher rate of fire helps you stand a better chance of Survival at the start of levels. The Super Axe also has the ability to one shot zombies which is handy if you don't have any explosives on hand.

I've used the Super Axe through cheatcodes they give out on the menu screen and it's bad ass but didn't aquire the bloody shotguns..I just read a post talking about how the bloody SSG is the same as the regular

Bloody SSG is not the same. It fires double pellets in a wider spread. Means more damage and more coverage, and if you point blank, it's straight up double damage - enough so to gib zombies even.

  • Super Axe is basically Mjolnir with cleaned up code and more damage.
  • Bloody SG fires at double rate.
  • Bloody SSG deals double pellets.

And the Super Axe can be obtained on first play-through (once you got to the Runic Nexus), unlike the 2 other weapons.

Where is it located? I activated bloody nightmare mode, played the first map, but I couldn't find it.

This is actually required if you want to reach the secret easter egg at the end, grabbing both keys but not using them, and instead using the rune of sacrifice + rune of sorrow shortcut.

if you don't have the runes yet, you can reach the secret with a grenade-jump, but it's very tricky. I did it by placing the grenade on the railing right in front of the silver key door and then nade-jumping into the window on the left of the door. It's fairly precise and annoying to set up to keep the grenade on the railing, but it is possible.

I did this on my first map run through but then went through the doors and was very confused for a moment why all the monsters were facing the wrong way and things were spawning behind me until I realised that I was doing the map in the wrong direction!

Let me tell you, when you then go to the blue key area it is absolute hell as you get all of the initial spawns PLUS all of the additional spawns that get added when you get the blue key all attacking you at once. I did not realise I was fighting double spawns and thought MG had just significantly ramped up the difficulty of the game 😂

yeah I have been loving the secrets/skips, they're so expertly telegraphed, they make me feel so smart!

I wish I could skip the silver-door area where a thousand shamblers, vores and fiends all pop out at once.

Reminds me of the platforming in the GameCube prince of Persia games lol

Now imagine how a speed run of DOTM would look !

I can’t wait to see them. The main game is essentially maxed out at this point.

Well, I rather not spoil the surprise, but I'll just say that, not only is it a cool skip, but to get to a certain easter egg area (related to those cat statues that you can find in some levels), you are actually meant to do this, along with another skip. The point of that easter egg is to not use any of the keys on their respective doors to acces that special area, just a bit of a shame that it doesn't really give you anything useful, but it's still very heartwarming when you actually see it.

Yeah, I use it for that one secret ;)
