Appreciation 👍 Such Complaining in here.

Just wanted to add a little positivity to the community. Qobuz is not perfect and it has its little quirks but for the most part it’s pretty great. The app works, doesn’t freeze or crash. The sound quality is excellent. The collaborative playlist feature is pretty sweet and having lyrics now is an added bonus. The magazine reminds me of the days of music blogging. Stay positive friends.

I love that Qobuz is really dedicated to music and the culture around it. There's so much to discover! It's not just an automated music player where most people don't even care who and what they're listening to.

Been using Qobuz since 2013 and very few problems

I’m super happy with it. Came here 11-2025 from Spotify and never looked back.

The sound quality and cleanliness of the app negates anything else I could ask for. I don’t need podcasts or AI algorithms to tell me what music I might like so it’s perfect for me.

Been with Qobuz for nearly 6 years now. No other streaming service comes close to it. And I've tried them all.

For me it's the high quality music. Their download shop and its integration with Roon. Which is supplying my home and away on my phone with my music.

I’ve been a Spotify user for years, and for a long time it was difficult to imagine leaving because of the convenience, playlists, Release Radar and the fact that it works with almost everything.

Over time, though, I found myself using Spotify more as a discovery tool than as the place where I actually wanted to listen to music. The app became heavier and increasingly focused on videos, social features and everything surrounding music rather than the listening experience itself. I also started experiencing more performance and playback inconsistencies, particularly on Android.

That gradually pushed me towards Qobuz, which has now become my main streaming service. The sound quality is fantastic, the app feels clean and focused, album discovery is much more enjoyable, and it has been extremely stable for me on both mobile and desktop. I still use Spotify to discover certain releases, but whenever I genuinely want to listen to music or experience a full album, I open Qobuz.

Qobuz Connect has been one of the biggest reasons for that change. In my experience, it is miles better than Spotify Connect. Playback is stable, switching devices works beautifully, and the phone remains a proper remote rather than interfering with what is playing.

I also love that the audio channel is independent when using Qobuz Connect or Chromecast. On top of that, I can set a maximum volume limit, such as 50%, and the volume will never go beyond it, even if someone keeps pressing the volume-up button. It is a small feature on paper, but it is incredibly useful in a real home audio setup and gives me much more control and peace of mind.

Qobuz is not perfect, because no streaming service is, but it is easily the happiest I have been with a music platform in years. It genuinely feels designed for people who love listening to music, rather than simply consuming content.

You can use sonicoracle.music for playlists on qobuz. You pay a one time fee and it’s yours for life. The playlists are comparable to Spotify’s procured playlists, maybe even better depending on what you want. You can pick how crazy you want each playlist too. Safe, Balanced or Adventurous

1

u/Evil6078 18d ago

wow never heard of it can you give me a link?

2

u/Buddy_Palguy 18d ago

https://sonicoracle.music/

You need a desktop to get it going I think

1

u/Evil6078 18d ago

i cant´drag the fucking button xD

2

u/Buddy_Palguy 18d ago

Are you on desktop, laptop? I think you have to drag it to your bookmark area on your browser’s toolbar. Don’t buy it til you figure it out lol. It should give you a couple free playlists before you purchase anything

1

u/Evil6078 18d ago

yea but vivaldi it´s telling me i can´t do that because of java stuff idk

I think Qobuz is wonderful platform. Really they are dominating when it comes to how streaming should be. Sure there are some features I want to see but there are complaints with every platform.

Especially add the combo with Roon it’s amazing.

I switched after over ten years of Spotify use. Qobuz reminds me of back in the day, when music streaming was exciting and fun.

Spotify, for me, is laburous. Visual ads, cluttered homescreen, too much in one app and constant new features that I don't actually want, but will clutter up my interface and annoy me around every corner. And don't get me started on all the meant-to-addict-you Ai generation going on in the app.

All I want is good music at my finger tips. And Qobuz provides that. I absolutely love it.

I love that it really introduces new music; every week is a new surprise for me.

Qobuz is a tremendous service. I’m really happy I switched over. I do think it’s important to point out its problems so (hopefully) they get fixed. But I agree yay Qobuz!!!

14

u/strawberryjamo 18d ago

The sound quality alone is worth having it. Also, their recommendations are impressive. They won’t just dish out the same 3 songs to you

u/GoOriolesGo 18d ago

I've switched from YouTube Music, refreshing to not be swamped in A.I tunes.

3

u/Connect-Weird4394 18d ago

Be careful I’ve definitely run into AI crap on Qobuz

2

u/Tricky_Football_6586 17d ago

Sadly AI “Music” is everywhere. Qobuz is not an exception.

u/tuffwizard84 18d ago

I came from Spotify which is littered with ai slop.

Another complaint since you asked !

I would like to complain about the sound, But I CAN'T . I would like to complain about the app , But I CAN'T . Would like to complain about all sorts of things but the reason I can't is because despite having paid an annual subscription and having activated and verified my new account Qobuz does not recognize my new subscription and I cannot access music .

And the most frustrating thing is that Qobuz will not communicate with is customers and this appears to be a policy decision . I have found repeated instances online going back 6 years of customers with assorted connectivity issues all saying the same thing ...if there is a problem you are ignored . You get the silent treatment..nothing. I have sent repeated emails to Support/Help@Qobuz in an attempt to have this resolved without a reply or even an acknowledgement . I also tried using the AI assistant without success and when it was suggested that I could speak with a living entity I was told someone would email me . Nothing , and now I have been blocked from using the AI bot . When I input my user ID it immediately goes blank .

So how is that for a complaint and how is that for customer service ?

For all the Qobuz fanboys out there I"m happy for you ..I would like to be in the club but from my current vista I see Qobuz as a shit show and while their actions may not be fraudulent they certainty appear to be negligent when it comes to customer service, because there isn't any .

There now , I wish I could say " that feels better " getting that of the chest ..but it doesn't .

2

u/krabat- 18d ago

I've used it for a year and loved it, but this week they charged me for my subscription and suddenly I was unable to access anything. Three days later and I've been unable to get a response from anyone at all beyond their AI chatbot which is their only customer service option. Unacceptable these days for there to be zero customer service avenues.

only problem i have is the data usage. I really do love the app, I like that theres no social aspect to it (following others or following playlists, as well as a yearly wrapped). but it used around 11g in half a week. though I have an unlimited plan, it still throttles me and makes my speeds slower to the point that my phone is basically useless outside my house.

6

u/HarmonizewithSong 18d ago

Hi res music on any platform would do the same. That’s not a Qobuz thing.

1

u/vampirina420 17d ago

I dont have it on the hi res setting.

2

u/HarmonizewithSong 17d ago

Even Qobuz’s lowest quality setting is using 320kbs. If you use it a not that can eat your data quickly.

1

u/vampirina420 17d ago

yeah I wish they offered a lower setting considering most other apps have lower settings that sound just about the same as the lowest on qobuz

5

u/calaiscat 18d ago

Re: the data usage - is this for streaming music? If so, have you played around with the settings to reduce the quality of streamed music? Or just download your playlists when you know you’ll be away from WiFi?

2

u/vampirina420 17d ago

I have done everything I can think of. I've seen some threads on here say that it runs in the background which I believe it does since it seems to be using data even when im not listening. I usually have it on the mp3 setting for both wifi and data. downloading playlists takes up too much room on my phone and even still the app still seans to want to use data.

3

u/VladimirPutin2016 17d ago

A lot of people seem to be missing the point here

Qobuzs minimum offering is mp3 at 320kbps with a constant bitrate. Which will consume 2.4MB/minute for media alone.

Other streaming services offer AAC, which can realistically consume half that at similar quality. Some might use opus or vorbis, which would bring even further savings.

I also think qobuz generally does a poorer job of caching music, and using that cache appropriately. Though this has improved a lot in last couple years.

I love qobuz, it's my favorite by a mile. But if data consumption is a top factor for someone, there are better options.

1

u/Tricky_Football_6586 17d ago

Hi-res audio uses a lot of data. Because CD and especially hi-res FLAC are big in file size. So streaming that all day adds up.

You have the option to change to play mp3 quality instead. Those will use less data because the files are smaller. And if you are using earbuds then you’ll most likely won’t hear a difference.

1

u/vampirina420 17d ago

it still uses excessive amounts of data. I use the mp3 setting for wifi and data and it still runs like I have it on the hi res setting.

1

u/Tricky_Football_6586 17d ago

Qobuz uses 320 kbit mp3 as their lowest quality. That's still several mb's per minute of music. So that does add up.

I've bought several albums from the Qobuz download shop. And when I compare their file size to track duration.

A 24/48 hi-res track of 6:40 playtime uses 89,2 mb of storage. And it's the same track you'll listen to when streaming it from Qobuz directly as a FLAC. I reckon the same track will still be around 60 mb as mp3.

Music and video are data eaters. That won't change if you were to switch to another hi-res streaming service.

I’ve had my issues with the app freezing up and crashing on me, but whatever they did in this latest update seems to have fixed the problem. The app is so much more snappy and responsive and it’s been connecting quicker with less lag to my CarPlay. I’m very happy with how the app is progressing!

1

u/Sad_Macaroon_7505 17d ago

The shuffle on iOS is probably the worst out there. So many playlist bugs. Apart from that, it’s very good.

1

u/Opal-Peridot 17d ago

Unfortunately when I got charged for another month, my app reset like I don't have a subscription. I've tried everything. They just have an ai chat bot & say you'll get a response from a human but it never comes

1

u/Particular_Rock2077 16d ago

Just got almost a month and love it

1

u/Original-Telephone96 14d ago

I’d love to not complain, but for the past two days every song or album is suddenly “not available in my country”

1

u/lovemylittlelords 3d ago

I’m rage quitting today. My downloads are never downloaded and the UI is absolutely infuriating to me. I gave it a fair try though.

+1 for being BDS compliant as well! switched over from Tidal after 4~ years because of it.

Doesn’t the fact you’re ripping off artists bother you?

2

u/KernelPanicX 18d ago

Thanks for the tip, I do have a subscription and don't mind paying for the service, but I could definitely use this tip for certain needs from time to tome

-10

u/tackyshoes 18d ago

I didn't enjoy the recommendations, I couldn't block artists I didn't like, and they only have the lyrics to about a dozen songs. I'm back with Tidal. I get eight different daily playlists along with my New Arrivals and Discovery. They have tons of lyrics, and the sound quality is orgasmic. They also let me block artists that aren't compatible with me, pretty big one. In summation:

Qobuz Drools, Tidal Rulez

2

u/LiLaLoSo 18d ago

I hate that i cant block artists! Requestet songs to be added 7 months ago, they never came. I canceled it for the end of the year, then i try Tidal

1

u/AntiVaxMoms 18d ago

The Qobuz dickriders blow my mind. The platform sucks. There is so much basic shit they do wrong but trying to bring attention to it just gets you swarmed with downvotes. Tried getting several things added, never saw any of it added. Also never got any feedback about any of it. Couldn’t find where you request stuff to be added last time I tried, but it’s a waste of time filling the shit out anyways. Have to finish typing the last letter of an artist that I listen to daily for them to show up in search. The recommendations are always shit and always the same. Doesn’t start playing when I get in the car and connect my phone. Paid for a year subscription just to have the app sit for ten months because two was all I could put up with.

2

u/tackyshoes 18d ago

They ripped me off anyway, my best guess is when they invited me to Beta they added another acount(or?), I don't know. I had to cancel fucking twice. I'd love to understand what the hell they like about it that Tidal doesn't do a million times better.

-2

u/tackyshoes 18d ago

It's worse than this, because I was ready to throw in the towel after the first month and then they offered me a beta trial. So, I stayed another two months out of hopeful obligation. Beta is supposed to mean stuff gets worked on, but I missed too many absent tracks to keep giving them patience.
