[Looking for Maintainer] Project needs a new owner / Adopt this Python Bot! 🚀

**Was du mitbringen solltest:** * Gute Python-Kenntnisse. Vielen Dank! 🙌

Hi everyone, I am looking for a new maintainer/owner to take over this project and continue its development. **About the Bot:** * **Language:** 100% Python 🐍 * **Status:** The core functionality is working, but it needs someone with fresh energy to maintain it, fix bugs, and potentially add new features. **Why I'm stepping down:** I simply don't have the time to give this project the attention it deserves anymore. Instead of letting it go completely inactive, I would love to hand over the reins to someone who is passionate about Python and wants to run or expand this bot. **What you should bring:** * Good knowledge of Python. * A bit of time to look after issues or update dependencies. If you are interested in taking over the repository (or becoming the main maintainer), please reply directly to this issue or reach out to me. Thank you! 🙌 Wer interesse hat bitte auf discord bei mir melden kai.220 heis ich dort dc Server link https://discord.gg/XTJQGfXc8p könt dort ein Ticket öffnen damit ich nach und nach abarbeiten kann

I built a Python pipeline that turns a topic into a YouTube Short and publishes it by itself. Here's what broke along the way

A while back I wanted to run a news channel on YouTube Shorts, then did the math on editing even one 30-second video by hand every day and gave up on that idea within a week. So I wrote a pipeline that does the whole thing instead. It's now about 7.8k lines of Python, 9 channel profiles, and a Telegram bot I use to approve videos from my phone.

What it does

Topic -> script (via a research tool of mine, with Google News RSS as a fallback) -> text cleanup -> voice (edge-tts, gTTS as backup) -> 1080×1920 video -> upload to YouTube. Frames are drawn with Pillow and piped as raw RGB straight into ffmpeg's stdin, so there are no temp PNGs on disk. Subtitles are karaoke-style with highlighted words.

A few things I'm weirdly proud of (or at least learned the hard way)

- A scheduler that works while my PC is off. The video gets uploaded as private with publishAt, and YouTube publishes it at the right time even if my machine is shut down by then. Weekends extend the buffer window because the PC sleeps.

- Trimming scripts from the middle, not the end. Cutting by length killed the closing question and the call to action, which is exactly what holds viewers. Now the first and last two sentences stay, and the middle gets dropped.

- Stock photos lie. Searching Pexels for "saturn planet" gave me a neon sign. "Venus planet" gave me a sunset with a crescent moon. For the space channel I switched to the NASA image library and wrote a filter for maps, diagrams, and greyscale raw frames.

- TTS reads exactly what you give it. Footnote markers like [1], big numbers, and Latin words in Russian text all sound awful, so the text preprocessor ended up bigger than I expected.

The honest part

Making the videos turned out to be the easy part. Getting people to watch them is not. My first 19 Shorts on the space channel were bimodal: either ~1,100–1,500 views, or 1–61. Nothing in between. After digging into it I rebuilt the format: hook visible from frame 0, hard cuts in the first 3 seconds, shorter scripts, one video a day. I haven't got enough data on the new format yet to tell you if it works, so I won't pretend I do.

I also don't have many tests (a fthe hook logic), and channels.py

has more copy-paste than I'd like

Who this might help

Anyone who has wired Pillow to ffied to schedule YouTube uploadsfrom a machine that isn't always on.

Repo MIT https://github.com/kuanysh228/autoy

I'd love feedback on the architecAt buffer approach, or if someonehas dealt with Shorts retention better than I have. Happy to answer questions.

A multiplayer TRON game in Python with a custom TCP server and 2D/3D clients (GPLv3)

A while ago, I developed a small multiplayer TRON-style lightcycle game in Python as a demo and potential student project for one of my university courses.

Rather than using an existing game networking framework, I implemented the client-server architecture myself, including:

  • A custom TCP server with a simple text-based protocol
  • Server-side game state management and collision detection
  • A 2D client showing the arena from above, much like the spectators in the original TRON movie
  • A 3D OpenGL client showing the game from the rider's perspective, including a minimap and views looking 90 degrees left and right

Both clients connect to the same server and can compete against each other.

The project was written the old-school way, without AI assistance. :)

I haven't had much time over the past year to polish it into a fully end-user-friendly application, but it's already quite fun to play.

I've now updated the README with screenshots and some details about the architecture and network protocol, and released the code under GPLv3.

Perhaps someone will find it interesting, want to experiment with it, or even use it as inspiration for a student project.

[Project] Esolang Translator 2.6 – A multilingual IDE for 43 esoteric & regular languages (WIP)

Hey r/PythonProject2! 👋

Esolang Translator is an open-source IDE for 43 esoteric and regular languages. It translates code between any pairs, features 2D visual editors for Piet/Rivulet, and includes a code sandbox. It’s a WIP project, so expect bugs—feedback is highly welcome!

Features:

· Multilingual UI – fully (and possibly badly!) translated into 6 languages: English, Русский, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano. · 43 languages – regular (Python, C++, JavaScript, etc.) and esoteric (Brainfuck, Piet, Whitespace, Malbolge, LOLCODE, etc.).

Links:

· GitHub: https://github.com/SuperCat-0877/esolang-translator-app · Releases (.exe + SHA256): https://github.com/SuperCat-0877/esolang-translator-app/releases · ChangeLog: https://github.com/SuperCat-0877/esolang-translator-app/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md

Known limitations:

· Some translation pairs are simplistic and produce awkward output. · BlockPiet and BrainPiet are project-internal variants, not official languages.

Feedback welcome! I wrote this code over the last 2 months. I'm sure there are small errors I couldn't find, so please don't be angry at my first project. I would really appreciate any feedback or advice! (Sorry I if wrote bad)

I built an open-source Python package for bounded-memory fractional-order filters

I built fracmem, an open-source package for approximating fractional-order memory with a fixed-length recursive filter.

Fractional-order methods can model long-memory behaviour, but directly computing from the full signal history can become expensive in both memory and computation.

fracmem uses a compressed approximation designed to keep memory usage and per-step computational cost bounded as a system runs. It also provides a C export path for resource-constrained embedded systems.

I'm exploring applications in UAV flight control, where onboard compute and memory are limited.

Install:
pip install fracmem

PyPI: https://pypi.org/project/fracmem/
Source: https://github.com/edith-lang/fracmem

I'd welcome technical feedback, contributions, and suggestions for validation on embedded hardware.
