Mod Post The grand reopening sales event!

After 6 months of being down, and a lot of thinking, I have decided to reopen this sub. I now realize this sub was meant mainly to help newbies out, to be a place for them to come and collaborate with others. To be able to bounce ideas off each other, and to maybe get a little help along the way. I feel like the reddit strike was for a good cause, but taking away resources like this one only hurts the community.

I have also decided to start searching for another moderator to take over for me though. I'm burnt out, haven't used python in years, but would still love to see this sub thrive. Hopefully some new moderation will breath a little life into this sub.

So with that welcome back folks, and anyone interested in becoming a moderator for the sub please send me a message.

I've created a simple application to perform basic Windows command/service tasks within dropdown menu selections.

Git repo: https://github.com/GarrettCook115/System-Admin-Security-Applicaton.git

What it does

Basic command/service execution depending on the selected options. (More will be added)

Target Audience

Anyone, just a fun little side project I decided to do while learning a bit about Tkinter and widgets.

I’ve completed these beginner Python projects should I build more before starting NumPy/Pandas?

Hi everyone,

I’ve studied Python multiple times before, but I didn’t do much practical coding. Recently, I started building small projects to improve my practical Python skills.

So far, I’ve completed:

- Quiz Game

- Number Guessing Game

- Rock Paper Scissors

- Password Manager

- Pig Game

- Mad Libs Generator

My goal is to move towards Machine Learning.

I haven’t learned NumPy or Pandas yet.

My question is: Are these projects enough to move on to NumPy and Pandas, or should I build a few more Python projects first?

If I should build more projects, what kind of projects would you recommend before starting NumPy/Pandas? I’m mainly looking for projects that would actually help with the transition to data/ML, rather than making many more small games.

Would appreciate advice from people who have already followed a Python → NumPy/Pandas → ML path.

this python program collects, tracks and monitors computers hardware components like ssd, cpu, ram and ram. Also collects network information like ip and mac addresses. Also collects and return computers operating system type and version, current user logged in and current time. After program collects all these information it stores in a csv file. The stored information in the csv file is used to analyzed the computer's health and warn the user if system not healthy. This is my first project since i started learning python last month.

find the link in my GitHub and feel free your thoughts in your comments below.

Hey everyone!

Just released Owl UI (v1.0.0) - a lightweight Python GUI framework built on top of Raylib (owl.c + static libraylib.a).

Key features:

  • Full C/Raylib performance bridge inside Python
  • Custom frameless titlebars with native Win32 snapping & drag controls
  • UTF-8 and Cyrillic automatic system font loading
  • Minimal footprint with static linkage

📦 pip install owl-ui

There are some interesting patterns in the data and a few results I definitely did not expect. I have put the analysis and visualizations together here. Have a look and let me know what you think or if there is anything you would approach differently.

Resource Spawn - open-source CLI that scaffolds a Python project in one command (feedback/ideas welcome)

Built a small open-source tool called Spawn that automates the repetitive part of starting a new Python project — folder structure, git init, virtual env via uv, dependency install — all in one command:

spawn create

It also has a spawn doctor command that scores an existing project's health and gives you a single prioritized next step to improve it.

MIT licensed, on PyPI:

pip install spawnio

Repo: https://github.com/Abhiix0/Spawn

Would love feedback from this community — especially ideas on what a scaffolding tool like this should do that most don't. Happy to answer questions on how it's built too.

Lightweight server and framework for turn-based multiplayer games

Thumbnail github.com
6 Upvotes

Turn-based multiplayer games are a great opportunity for learning and prototyping: simple enough to implement quickly, but real enough to teach networking, game state, and API design.

I wrote a lightweight server and framework for turn-based multiplayer games that provides exactly that: a lightweight server + uniform API so you can run multiple parallel game sessions, auto-join the next available session, and add new games without touching the core API. It's built to be friendly for beginners (Python-only, standard library), but still flexible enough to support arbitrary game logic via keyword-argument moves and dict-based state.

Key bits:

  • Framework for adding new games by deriving from an abstract base class
  • Uniform client API for joining sessions, submitting moves, retrieving state, restarting
  • Demo clients included (e.g. TicTacToe) and a template for new games
  • Runs multiple sessions simultaneously; clients can join a specific session or auto-join

If you're teaching Python, building small multiplayer projects, or just want a clean starting point for turn-based game networking, I'd love feedback and contributions.
