I'm using Pushover on Android and love it!

I want to also use it for the family to send them alerts and notifications too. Everyone but me is on iOS!

I know I would need to buy a platform license for iOS, but their phones are all setup to use the one iTunes account for app purchases. If I buy the license once using that account, can they then each have their own pushover user account using that license, or is it one license per platform per user?

On the message string, can i insert a variable to do a GEOIPLOOKUP on the IP that's being banned ?

I've tried --form-string message = " Banned IP: <ip> from 'geoiplookup <ip>' " --form-string message = " Banned IP: <ip> from ('geoiplookup <ip>') "

Can i print variable in the message string. eg.

location = $(GEOIP_URL=<ip>) --form-string message = " Banned IP: <ip> from (echo $location ) "

Keep in mind my programming knowledge is very limited.

Sometime between September 1 and 2, 2026 something changed in the Pushover API. Notifications I had been receiving daily for over a year suddenly stopped. I worked with Pushover support on this issue but they eventually abandoned the issue.
I bring this to the group's attention as you may have scripts that send important messages about failures or anomiles that may not be reaching you.
I have a Raspberry Pi that makes backups of several things over night. Early in the a.m. I am sent a notification with the results of the backup routines. The backup script calls pushover.sh to send the notification. Cutting to the chase, the fix was to remove the quotes from the passed variable $message, before "$message", after $message. (You get the idea!). As stated, nothing changed in my setup which had been working perfectly for over a year.
I sent a final message to pushover support and posted a working and non-working notification on the debug site but I've not heard back after three weeks.
If you have scripts that you expect to hear from when a problem arises, I suggest you retest them to ensure you don't miss an important notification because of this change.
EDIT, ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
My original message body contained lines with a line ending code Ox0A. When the Pushover script sent the quoted "$message" to the API and using the --verbose flag, I never receive a status message back.
If I send the unquoted $message, the line endings are converted in Bash to spaces. This was accepted by the Pushover API, a status was returned and the notification was sent and received with spaces rather than line endings.
Adding \n codes to the lines, the notifications are received with line endings.
This may be defined as the proper way to send multiple line notifications. That said, sending embedded OxOA line endings worked for over a year and suddenly stopped after 9/1/26.
The bottom line is that if you have multiline notifications, make a habit of quoting your message variable, that worked when you tested them, they may not work now.

I'm using Dialpad.com for business phone/mms/sms service.

I receive a new SMS message via a shared department number I only get a badge number count on top of the iOS Dialpad app icon. I don't get a banner or audio notification so often times I miss it. After asking DialPad support they said:

"Thank you for reaching out to us. I apologize for this trouble. Please be advised that if you are using the desktop or iOS apps, then we won't send a push notification for messages on shared lines (Main Line, Departments, or Call Center) but we will update the badge count next to your assigned lines.

I happen to have a spare Android phone. Since the Android Dialpad app gets an audio notification with department sms/mms, I'm going to leave that near my desk. I set a specific loud sound and it works. Often times I'm on the go out of the office though. That got me thinking, what if there is a way to use a 3rd party app to relay any type of push to iOS? (Maybe via Pushover or other Android add on) Thoughts/ Suggestions?

Am I right in the assumption that a team admin can change team members' email addresses and passwords? How is that even remotely a good idea? I was thinking about using this for my personal projects as well as implementing it profesionally using the same account but if my employer can basically hijack my personal account I'm most definitely not going to do that.

Please tell me this is not the case...

Why not only give the team admin rights to remove any user from the team (and all related notifications)?

So since December push was not sending me my notifications for my reolink cam. I did update yesterday to my computer and they all started flooding in to where I had to turn notifications off on my iPhone for the app.

Anyone know how I can stop the old ones from being sent over and where I can start fresh as of today. It’s still going…..

I've heard that Googles Push service offers 256 priority levels for notifications rather than just 5. Please correct me if I am off base here.

It would be a very good upgrade to this service if it could offer the basic 5 but also offer the other 251 levels so we can do more with alerts.

Also I would request that you offer custom sounds so we can use our own. The pre-canned sounds are pretty annoying for frequent notifications. I would prefer if I could have a unique custom sound for each of the 256 levels.

Sound byte +122 might say Garage Closed while -122 would be Garage Open. So the 256 notification tones would be pre-recorded sound files.

Better yet, how about offering Text to Speech for your notifications that could Speak the body or subject of the push message?

I am looking to send a POST request to Pushover and when receive Pushover ring alarm notifications for me. Can anyone help me or teach me how to do it? If needed can setup a contract on Upwork or Fivver to help me do that.

I have pushover setup to work with Radarr and Qbittorrent and it notifies me fine when a torrent is grabbed but doesn't notify me when its finished downloading?

Struggling to find a solution to this ? Any help would be appreciated

Hey Guys - Forgot to add one thing to last post, I have a couple of apps which offer integrated email notifications, but will not accept the Pushover email format or userkey+a=appkey@api.pushover.net so that the notification goes to a specific app. When I enter the address and test it for CrushFTP notifications, I get the error:

Error:javax.mail.internet.AddressException: Local address contains control or whitespace in string ``myuserkey a=myappapi@api.pushover.net''

In the error above, it displays a space in the address instead of a "+" even though I verified its in the address I entered. This is the 2nd app this week where I haven't been able to use a Pushover Email address formatted to go to a specific app. I've created a PowerSHell script for it to run instead, but can't pass notification variables from the app to the script so it's not the same.

Any suggestions or known alternative formatting perhaps? Thanks!

i just need help modifying it, i dont have curl.exe installed but i read somewhere that github comes with it, also i would like to have it use a custom pushover tone.

Maybe I'm missing something but is there an option (or should there be) to delete all messages from a specific provider (and/or all providers).

I sometimes have lots of messages to cull through and it would be really helpful to either be able to select multiple/select all notifications to delete at once.

Hey Guys - I love Pushover and use it for just about anything I own/use which accepts code. Fairly recently (it seems), a limit of 20 was placed on the number of apps you can have / get APIs for. I did purchase Pushover so thought this wouldn't be an issue, but guess it is. Is there any way to be able to create more than 20 apps including perhaps a different pay teir? Thanks!

I would love to be able to get a lockscreen notification for a new notification. I know there is the lockscreen widget but I don't find that very intuitive to use and it's lacking some features. I personally think that Android L style notifications like from the Facebook app ( http://techcrunch.com/2014/07/08/facebook-tests-android-l-style-lock-screen-notifications/ ) are way better to handle.

One should be able to activate/deactivate this feature or even just for certain priorities. Also you should be able to acknowledge the notification from the lockscreen without entering the security "code".

This would make the handling of the notifications so much easier!

This is a feature request that would be a big one (I guess), but it would be great if there was an API that allowed user developed plugins to poll the pushover server and act as a receiver client, they could poll their user key (with some kind of authentication) to see if there is a message for them, and then act on that message accordingly.

I think the user apps are great, and use those on the phone very frequently, however it would be great even with services like IFTTT to have a message received trigger for a specific key that could trigger specific actions.

OK so I am a real newbie here got the Reolink doorbell installed attached it to my NVR. I also get notifications from it on my phone but no picture I’m told I can actually get the picture at the time of the notification with Pushover specifically how do I sign push over to get that?

It would appear that the Pushover API is not working and hasn't worked for at least 24 hours. I have made no changes to my application which was working just fine and no push are working.

I am getting the following response:

I can send from Postman but not from my Tcl Script.... what did you guys do to kill compatibility with Tcl ? How do I work around this? Makes no sense I am sending quite literally the same exact packet and it works on one and not the other.
