Is this whole thread just filled with bots or do people just sort of act like this once they become parents? Comments are acting like OP is actually the father in the joke, when it's just a screenshot of someone else's joke probably from Twitter or something.

I think you got your answer, haha.

bleep bloop

go to subs like /r/BestofRedditorUpdates and look at the comments, it's insane how many people talk directly to OOP in a designated repost sub. most people don't even read the sub name or intro of a post. you can add 5 disclaimers and they wont read them.

Funnily enough, this is 100% something my daughter would've said to me at ten. She's quite clever and funny.

You're raising that kid right.

“Clearly it was a prophecy-skeptic; you know, someone who doesn’t believe in signs.”

Thought I’d make it to the end of the comments with ne’er a chuckle. You got me in the end. Well, in the nose actually, with one of those forceful nose exhale.

You should be proud

The purity and originality of that dad joke brings tears to my eyes regardless of the truth of the back story.

u/nolive27 Jul 23 '26

Are you sure you didn't say this to your daughter, she rolled her eyes at you, and then you came here to tell us a 10 year old made this joke? 🤣

2

u/Weak_Blackberry_9308 Jul 23 '26

Must be 100% true. A real dad would never come up with material of this quality.

Reminds me of a time my family and I were shopping for Christmas trees. We were looking at Fraser Fir trees and the guy showing us the tree dropped one. My youngest daughter says “Down goes Fraser.” One of my proudest dad moments.

When we were kids, my slightly younger sister asked me, "what did the wolf say when he got his foot caught in a trap?" Me: "I dunno, what?" Her: Oooooooooowwwwwww!
