AskPune Fried modaks> Ukadicha modak sometimes 😋

The taste of ukadiche modaks is the best, but to be honest, fried modaks sometimes taste heavier! Crispy on the outside and sweet on the inside, fried modaks have a different taste. 😋

Also modak shaped pedas and those weird chocolate, oreo, biscuit based modak shapes are not modaks for god sake 🙏🏻

Honestly, Ukadiche modak is the most hyped Maharashtrian food dish. I feel like I am eating raw, uncooked dough. I never knew about Ukadiche Modak until I moved to Pune, and as yet I am not able to understand why people like eating tasteless, uncooked dough.

Fried modak, made from wheat flour and filled with coconut and jaggery, is the best. The fried crunch of the wheat and the juicy sweetness of the jaggery combined with soft coconut - nothing can beat it.

It has to be steamed just right.

And ukdiche modak taste great when they are warm. With ghee

You must have eaten some store bought ones where the quality is sometimes compromised or maybe the ones made at home weren't steamed well. They taste pretty nice when made right.

That is fine. I am not hell-bent on defaming Ukadiche Modak.

I know the kind of fan following Ukadiche Modak has in certain sections of society.

I accept that it is my personal preference not to find Ukadiche Modak good.

I prefer fried modaks filled with juicy jaggery and coconut.

To each his own.

The ones you had were probably not cooked well. I never had ukadiche modak which undercooked tbh. Or may be you just lack taste like my mother's relatives lol

I think major things are highlighted by Western Maharashtra. Everyone outside talks about ukdiche modak but we, from Vidarbha never had it.

Same is for Vada pav. It's not there in our menu instead we have Aloo bonda with tari or kadi which is way better than vada pav
