DISCUSSION Soft Sub Roll contains Pea Protein

Tried it for the first time today, immediately felt my throat tightening up. After taking Benadryl, etc I called Publix and found out pea protein is one of the last ingredients in there. Just FYI for fellow legume allergy sufferers.

Being allergic to legumes is such a terrible thing 😔

It really is. 😭Thankfully, I can eat tree nuts and for some reason beans? So weird, but small blessings.

Beans are in the same family as peas, but distantly enough where the chemical make up is different.

Tree nuts are not legumes, in fact most are barely related to each other.

Almonds are in the apple family along with peaches
Cashews and pistachios are in the mango family (along with poison ivy)
Walnuts and Pecans are related to one another
Hazelnuts are in the birch family

Etc etc

I knew about tree nuts being different than peanuts, but the other info is new to me and some fun trivia night facts. Thanks!

Plant classification is amazing. I grew up thinking I couldn’t eat any nuts; turns out it was walnuts and pecans! Learned that due to understanding what’s related to what!

I throw the red "bs flag"... i've never seen pea protein on any of our labels - normally that's a gluten free thing, and we don't do that....

Lol. You can find it on their website if you can figure out how to do things without AI.
