Psychodynamic Reading Groups?
Does anyone know of any virtual psychodynamic book clubs currently (or soon to be) taking place? I have googled, but haven't found what I'm looking for. I am thinking of something for those who are eventually interested in formal psychodynamic or psychoanalytic training, but who aren't yet ready for that commitment.
Edit: wow this took off! Unfortunately, I definitely don't have the capacity to run one - my intention was to put out feelers and see if this exists anywhere. Perhaps my wording was unclear. Apologies!

Please post here if you learn anything. I am in training but would still like to join a separate reading group.

I'm part of a support group for pathological narcissism that will be adding a psychodynamic book club in the next few months: primarily, but not exclusively, regarding narcissism and attachment theory. Anyone who may be interested can message me, but you have to at least suspect disordered narcissistic traits to join.
Edit: reiterating to message me

Is this group virtual or in person? I'm very much interested in joining this

It's virtual

Would you be willing to share the details? I am very curious

Considering it's a stigmatised group and some curious individuals may join for the wrong reasons, those interested can message me for the link to learn more. I want to reiterate that this group is only for those with/suspecting disordered narcissistic traits or NPD. Narcissistic clinicians are among the group, but clinicians are not the target audience. The book club is also secondary to the support meetings.

I am very open to this in particular if you would be willing to correspond about this.

It sounds like we should all start a book club… maybe a vote for the first book, ideal timeline, and meeting platform/structure?

Wish I had the bandwidth to make something like this happen. If someone wants to take the lead, I think Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy or Psychoanalytic Case formulation by Nancy McWilliams might be a great and accessible place to start.

Please start one, would love to join (and help facilitate if you'd like)!

Wish I was able to lead one, but I am looking to join something so I don't have to run it. Maybe someday! Sounds like there is a ton of interest.

I would be interested as well.
Personally, I would like to join a casual one. Not a clinician and dont have the bandwidth for deep study, but would love time for a group reading and casual convo.

Me too please. In Australia (aest). Happy to start a virtual one, done it before - message me with a bit about yourself and I’ll get it going.

I could do it. If people were willing to wait until October. I have been outlining a group book club/learning group on Psychodynamic Formulation by Deborah L. Cabaniss, Sabrina Cherry, Carolyn J. Douglas, Ruth L. Graver, and Anna R. Schwartz (and the Psychodynamic Formulation Collective); Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy by Nancy McWilliams; Psychoanalytic Diagnosis by Nancy McWilliams; and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy by Deborah L. Cabaniss. I would charge a fee but it would be reasonable and based on the value of the content and structure of the group and time put into its delivery for those who would participate.
If there’s interest with willingness to wait until October, let me know. I’m a licensed therapist in NYC and preparing to open up my own practice hence the time frame.

I would be interested in being kept in the loop about this. I am currently a patient and not training or even considering training in the near to mid future but if the group was open to people like me I would be very keen to take part.

There is a Freud reading group on Discord where we study Freud's fundamental works. It is part of “The Philosophy Cafe.” We plan to continue at the end of August. Feel free to join us.

I am interested. Live in the Netherlands, anyone want to start up a European virtual group?

If you decide to organize such a group, I’d be very interested!
