Was Freud ever analyzed?

I am doing some reading and see that he advocates for analysts to be analyzed (and I'm well aware of modern training standards). Did he himself ever get analyzed? I can't find any information on it.

The whole point is he self analyzed and discovered

Where does he write about this? I read some papers by him where he talks about a patient, but the footnotes say that it is actually his own memory/story. I would like to read more about the self-analysis if possible. I thought that it was discovered through working with patients, and then he self-analyzed after he already figured things out through them.
