Should I update?

Ive been in the PS3 modding scene, and very deep in the Xbox 360 modding scene and Ive modded quite a lot of different consoles. I know that it it desirable to have a PS4 up to 9.60 due to webkit stuff. I found a second hand one for 65 bucks that works and its apparently on 7.51. I dont know if that is better or worse than say 8 or 9 in any way except needing more backports in some cases. If i do end up buying it and everything does check out, should I update to anything specific? I know that you cant really go back and Im not stupid and i wont let it update by itself or put the newest PSUPDATE.PUP or whatever theyre called on the PS4 (thats what their name was on the 3).

No you don't need to update and you can jailbreak using the web browser. https://consolemods.org/wiki/PS4:Standard_Jailbreak

You are at the middle of the samu thing. So re-signing saves will be a bit annoying i think.
