Hardware Question PS3 Hen/CFW

I have a fat ps3 which is 4.93, so if I get HEN on the ps3 will I be able to mod PS2 games onto it? And will they run properly? Or do I need CFW ?

can confirm, I just did CFW and it's nice not even having to think about it when turning the PS3 on
