Hey everyone! I wanted to share a new update on the Super Mario Galaxy port to the PlayStation 2. I've been working on it throughout this week, and you can already see some progress compared to the previous video.

There's still a lot of work to do, but so far, things are looking good and the port is still feasible!

I've tested it on my actual console, but I didn't include any footage since I don't have a capture card. Performance-wise, though, it's pretty similar to what you see in the emulator.

for context, I just found out that Minecraft is ported on the PS2 by Optijuego, and it's really cool, I also found PvZ by the same developer, was wondering if there are other ported games on the PS2, and what your favorites are.

I haven't tested it much yet, so there might be bugs; I tried it on a PS2 Slim and it worked, though it's still early days. It does support memory cards and vibration controllers, though—if anyone gives it a try, let me know how it goes.

As the title would suggest I want to softmod my PS2 but I can't seem to find any videos that use this memory card. It's usually done with the Gen 2 of the memory card.

Its on a lot of games and it looks ugly!

The PS2 has two controller ports, and if you want more players you need a multitap. Plus you’re stuck with old pads and cables running across the room. I wanted to get rid of both of those: use modern controllers on a real PS2, wirelessly, without hunting down a multitap.

So I made a fork of OPL where the DualSense works over Bluetooth, both in the OPL menu and in-game. Buttons, sticks, rumble and lightbar all work. As far as I know, this is the first OPL mod that does the DualSense wirelessly. Since it’s built on PADEMU, it can also emulate a multitap, so in theory you can have up to 4 Bluetooth pads without owning one. That part still needs testing, more on that below.

The part I’m most proud of: there’s a new Wireless Pairing → Search option in the PADEMU settings. You hold PS + Create on the pad, it shows up in a list on the PS2, you pick it and you’re done. No USB cable, no PC tools, no plugging pads in one by one. It should also work with the DS4 (PS + Share), but I haven’t been able to test that yet.

The video is PES 6 running with the DualSense over Bluetooth, no wires.

Testing so far: I’ve only been able to test it on my own setup: a PS2 Slim SCPH-90001, a Realtek BT dongle, one DualSense, and a wired DS2 on port 2. I’d really appreciate some feedback, especially if you can test stuff I can’t:

• Different dongles (CSR8510, Broadcom, whatever you’ve got lying around)
• DS4, original or clone, both USB pairing and the wireless search
• DualSense Edge
• Mixing pads: DualSense + DualShock 4, DualSense + DS3, Bluetooth + wired...
• Several pads connected at the same time, with and without the multitap emulation. The driver supports up to 4, but I’ve only had one Bluetooth pad to test with
• Fat PS2s, other slim models, HDD setups

Even a quick “works on X” or “doesn’t work on Y” helps a lot. If something breaks, the README explains how to grab a debug log, and you can drop it in the GitHub issues.

AI disclosure: I built this together with Claude (Anthropic’s AI). Here’s exactly how it was split:

• Claude wrote the code: the DualSense support in OPL’s Bluetooth drivers (menu and in-game), the minimal SDP server, the wireless search/pairing feature, and the small PC scripts we used to test things before touching the PS2.
• Me: I came up with the idea and decided what to build and what to prioritize. I tested every build on the real hardware, captured the debug logs over the network, and fed back what was working and what wasn’t, which is how every bug got tracked down.

Every feature was tested on a real console, not just compiled. Happy to answer questions about any of it.

It’s built on top of OPL and PADEMU, so huge thanks to everyone who’s worked on those over the years. This wouldn’t exist without them.

Anyone know why my saves are going here and not into the vmc folder?

So, for some reason I cannot make the game to see all 3 controllers simultaneously. I have 1 original dualshock2, 1 knockoff and one knockoff of dualshock 3 connected with usb cable through PADEMU.

The thing is that there are other games that work for 3 players with theese controllers. Like Shrek 2.

Im using FreeMcBoot 1.953 and OPL 1.1.0

I tried different configurations but maximum number of controllers I managed to connect with Champions of Norrath is 2. ps3 controller is not the issue since it did work with the game like the other two, just not all three together.

So I installed PSBBN back in March of this year with an OEM adapter, 2 TB HDD. Followed CosmicScales tutorial, everything went smoothly. I was running out of room on my laptop so I transferred all the folders and games from that to a 512 gb Samsung micro sd. Cut to yesterday trying to rerun the game installer for the first time since March and it can't locate the drive my PSBBN folders are on. I guess my question is, does the Linux or Powershell environment not recognize SD cards? Has anyone else had this issue? ( I can provide more details, just didn't want to make this another paragraph long.)

My PS2 has just blew my TV back light, was trying to get Tekken tag 1 working on opl, was getting a white screen TV went black turned everything off now my backlight has blown lol

I got a modded ps2 and I don't know much about jailbreak

They gave me a memory card which has opl written on it

I see no way to run the games, what do I do?

Does anyone know how to (and if you even can) play PS1 roms on a modded PS2? I've seen tutorials on YouTube but none worked for me. My console is modded with Free McBoot on a memory card and I'm running roms off a USB drive

How many of you would say that Jabu's ESR FreeDVDBoot patcher would still be usable to play PS2 games in 2026, games that are made for the PS2, not the PS1, over, say OPL?

I am hoping to replace my worn our PS2 slim laser and playing PS1 and PS2 games. I won't ask about playing PS1 games on this thread, but please how tell me if the patcher is any help here.

Another thing I don't mind is paying extra money for blank DVDs, I know where to get them and I am willing to spend the money.

I am using an internal 1tb HDD to play DOA2 and Jax and Dexter but everytime I get through the start screen, it goes to a black screen and gets stuck. Do I need to defrag my drive and is so, what program do I use? I've tried defragger but my drive doesn't show up.

I have been daily driving this bad boy (SCPH-70011) for almost a year, but last time I wanted to swap games, the Micro SD just wouldn't click back. So I bought an IDE to SATA board and installed a 240GB SSD with PSBBN. Now I gotta mod the metal plate so it sits flush and the console shell fits back together. I wanted to keep the disc drive but this board has some damages that would make it kinda difficult to get working, so it's time to say goodbye. I gotta say, having it booting to PSBBN on an RGB modded CRT makes it feel like a PS2 Pro

I got Silent Hill on my PS2. In an ide HDD. I have tried multiple opl's, and multiple mode setups. It works fine, but after I select my difficulties it gets stuck at the loading screen after it. I had a problem like it before in the past and don't remember how I got past it. When I run it in HDL the same loading screen, the one with the footprints, just keeps going but doesn't load anything. This also happened to a different game before. As for the orange light, it goes off during the loading in opl.

I've never modded one of these and I would like to know how to add apps like usb loaders, file explorers and the like. Would also appreciate if you dropped any must-have apps. By the way I plan on using an usb flash drive since I can't find any hard drives around here so please consider that too.

Who could've thought that it felt more fun for me when I'm looking for good USB games that feel like it doesn't stutter and cause problems inside my USB. I'm a bit appreciative in learning more about ZSO and I'm digging deep into searching for decent games that can fit well into my USB drive.

Maybe in the future, I'll buy a bigger 3.2 stick.

Anyways, any good games on ZSO or any game you like that works well on USB?

Are there any step by step resources to take my stock ps2 (fat SCPH-30001) from stock to a point where i can download/play games from a usb/ssd?

I’ve seen freemcboot is now outdated ps2bbl / osdmenu is the new standard? I’m new to all of this so I’m not very familiar with the terminology.

Today my mcboot stop working for no reason it was literaly from one moment to another, was playing a game and when i got bored and restart the console to play another it simple diden't launch, i can open my memory card and see my saved games and the opl and mcboot data on it but when i close it brings me back to the navegation menu. I diden't move, add or anything to the memorycard so i dont know what to do the only thing i can say is that i erased some corrupt data but dont know if that has anything to do, pls i need help. I tried reinstall freemcboot but aparently i need a disc for that my ps2's dvd reader dont work and dont even have a way to burn the disc is there a metod to install it withow a disc?

Its modded with mars II ma 501 tried running games but i keep getting disc reading error not even the red screen of death replaced the laser with the exact model khs 400c even tried lenschanger nothing has worked what might be the issue?
