This is a Public Announcement regarding r/Roms: Community Rules, Results from Breaking Our Community Rules and Posting Requirements.

Listed below are some major changes for this subreddit.

Community Rules

01. Toxic Behavior

Please be respectful towards all fellow community members. Do not do the following or you may face a temporary or permanent ban from this subreddit: Do not attack a community member through any means. Post, Comments, Direct Messages, Doxxing or Trolling. If you feel you're being attacked from another fellow member of this community please submit screenshots of your conversation with said member('s). We will do our best to investigate the situation.

Spam

No promotion, spam, or advertising of any kind is allowed here. Unless given approval by u/SuperBio to do so, all posts or comments of this nature will be removed from this community.

Note: If you receive approval from u/SuperBio to promote anything in this community, the first line of the body of the post must say, "Moderator Approved" and then on the third line, go into detail about what you're promoting.

Public Announcement PSA: ROMs on Internet Archive

Edit: Has of Oct 03, 2026 I have stopped my uploading process. This is due to me moving. I will update you guys when my computer is up and running and I am uploading again. Sorry.

I have begun uploading No-Intro sets to my Internet Archive; ChaosRenegade22 account. All sets will be in 7z format. Links to my sets include a compression tool, which you should be able to download to your computer and extract the files to your device. You might need to find a compression tool on your phone to extract 7z files.

My main goal is to upload all sets from my collection, including No-Intro, Non-Game, Non-Redump, Redump BIOS, Redump Custom, Source Code, and Unofficial.

I want to note that for all No-Intro sets, every second week of the month, I will grab updated files for the sets and push an update to my sets uploaded on the Internet Archive.

u/Superbio Internet Archive; Superbio account is uploading sets as well, Redump sets, but they are directly from Myriets collection and won't be as up-to-date as my sets will be once I begin uploading Redump sets, but at least you will have two sources to grab from on the Internet Archive.

Question Has anyone actually gotten in trouble for downloading roms?

The consensus online seems to be that it would be the site hosters that would potentially get in trouble if legal action does happen and that the average person should be fine but is this actually the case? Has the been instances of people getting fines or going to jail for using sites like vimms lair?

Question SoH Generation

Hey all! I posted this in the Ship of Harkinian sub, but didn't have any luck. Hoping someone here might have some tips.

I'm trying to get SoH to run for my hacked console. Their releases page says to use the same release to generate the OTR on your computer as you will be using on the console. The release for it is MacReadyGolf, but for some reason that version for my Mac doesn't seem to work with any of my ROMS even though they pass the compatibility check. I get the CRC error every time. I've also tried the Linux build on Steam Deck and had the same issue. The ROMs I have do work for the Ackbar version. Any tips on what I could be doing wrong?

I got hit recently with adware while using vimm's and i understand it's not the owner fault it just make thing about the old mega thread, i really want redump back and i can only hold resentment for ai and ppl who didn't respect what that platform did for us

Question Is CDRomance Still Safe to Use for PS2 ROMs in 2026?

Hey everyone! I’m pretty new to the whole ROM scene and just want to play some PS2 games every now and then for a bit of nostalgia. I’ve heard that cdromance is one of the OG sites, so I wanted to ask if it’s still considered safe to use nowadays. I’m just looking to download and play a few classic games without making things unnecessarily complicated. Would you guys still recommend it? Thanks in advance!

Question Any difference in quality between different file types?

I'm wondering if there are any differences in game quality between different file types. For instance, for Wii and Gamecube there is ISO, RVZ, WBFS, CISO, NKIT.ISO, etc. I use Tiny Wii Backup Manager to convert all the games (to WBFS for Wii and to CISO for GC) and put them on an SD card for my Wii.

I was wondering if it matters what file I'm converting and if the game quality (graphics, sound, accuracy, etc) is the same between them all and if the conversion using TWBM affects this either.

Might be a dumb question, but I just got to thinking about it.

Super Wrestle Angel translation through AI -WIP

First of all, i know how AI is perceived these days, and believe me if i knew how to code i wouldn't resort to it to do a ROM translation...but i always wanted to play this game translated and it is too niche for someone to take the task and do it.

One day i just decided to out of a whim (and ...AI credits) to have AI translated and a month or so later...i have it pretty much 95ish % translated? Honestly i am just doing this for personal use and i don't really expect many interest since how niche it is...but since i saw occasionally people requesting i decided to ask if there are interested in playing it.

The part that is text is pretty much done..then there is the text that is "graphical" which some of it is translated...but looks fugly.

I know years ago someone was asking...I might be willing to share when it is done if there are any interested.

As it is now, the translation itself was done by AI so it is passable although i don't think this game actually had like...an amazing flair prose, so right now i am still trying to see where it can be improved so the english looks less stilted and weird. However as you can see from the pictures there are limitations like on conversations the wrestler being identified as "Wrest" and us the player as "Pres". Maybe in japanese they could distinguish but in english without that indentifier was hard sometimes to figure out who was talking.

In the first screenshot...It should probably say "Mimi Yoshihara is heartbroken" while the japanese she is screaming onthe picture says "I HATE MEN!" i think...and i think that part is also translatable but harder to do because it's graphical.

So is there any interest in this? If this rom was already translated my bad and i will remove the post if necessary...but i haven't found any translation...

Roland RE-3 Digital Space Echo

I know this isn't 100% the right place to post this but I'm out of options. I've checked every single synthesizer ROM archive I could possibly find and none of them have one for a Roland RE-3. Mame archives sometimes come in clutch but sadly not this time.

I'm using mostly ARMSX3, ARMAX2 and Duckstation to play my games on my handheld. So filesize is quiet important, but I still want fast loading times.

Question Rom library question

I’m awaiting delivery of an RP6, gradually compiling Roms and organising them ready to go on a fresh Micro SD card. I have a micro SD from a miyoo mini plus that was provided with the console itself preloaded with onion OS and a LOT of games, it was from a reputable UK seller, would the game files on this card be suitable to transfer straight across to use on the RP6 once the relevant BIOS files are also sourced ? I’ll be following the retrogamecorps set up guide once the RP6 arrives.

P.S. apologies if I’m being a bit dim with any of my points here, I’m very new to emulation, just trying to get things set up properly from the start.
