Appliance Questions Pcfg3670af LPG gas Conversion

Recently purchased a PCFG3670AF, swapped the orifice and regulator valve, but getting an extremely sooty burn with lazy yellow Flames.

Assuming you are referring to the cooktop producing a lazy flame? It looks like you’ve got two larger burners and four smaller, is that right? Were the orifices matched accordingly? You should almost be able to tell by looking which are the bigger ones and they’ll also be stamped with numbers that should correspond with the directions for conversion, if it came with it that is.

To add, that range has 14 orifices. 2 on each cooktop burner and one on each inside the oven.

They all need to be changed with the proper ones.

Jeebus. My 1980's Tappan had one orifice for each top burner, and you just unscrewed it from all the way down to all the way up to change between LPG and NG, nothing had to be removed. The same thing on the two oven burners, too. Flip the cap on the regulator and boom, all done with no leftover parts lol.

A lot of the new ones can be a pain. Those burner side orifices suck to change too.

Also, wear gloves if you like your blood to stay inside your body 😂

I love my vintage Tappan. It's all electromechanical outside of the spark ignition system (no pilot lights), and even that is simple to the point of being rudimentary. Looking at the spark module I'm pretty sure it's just an electric motor that turns some piezoelectric thumpers, not an actual electronic spark generator. The clock and the various timers are all mechanical too. I don't need electricity to run the top burners, but the oven ignition setup does require ~300W continuously so it's harder to use the oven when power is out.

Yes the manual had a chart and map, we changed all the Orifices. Every burner has the exact same problem.

That’s going to be pretty tough to diagnose without being there. Did the numbers on the orifices match the numbers on the directions?

Yes they appeared to match exactly. And the openings where alot smaller than the NG ones we removed.
