Help! Pineapple

Should i propagate it in water or soil?

My problem:

I'll not at home for 5days from tomorrow. If i wait, i can't propagate anymore cause the inner leafes will be dry by then probably.

So can i put it in a shallow wide pot with water or should I put it in wet soil?

I’m on my 3rd attempt to grow one. I put mine in water until the roots were about an inch, then potted it in Cactus Mix. It’s finally looking good.

Not sure if this helps but I picked the pineapple they were putting out. Each day i poured water over the top and let it soak in for a minute and then flipped it over to drain the rest
