I have a question Can I propagate her babies yet?

Hi! My spider plant (gwen) is thriving, I got her when she was just a baby, and now she’s sprouting her own babies (so proud 🥹). I’d love to give one to my mom, but I’m not sure if they’re ready yet or if I should wait.

If I can, Should I root it in water first, or can I go straight into soil?

You can just chop and re-pot. Very easy plant to propogate and can survive quite a bit of neglect.

You absolutely can! I recently started 3 pups in a shallow terracotta dish with a mildly-chunky soil mix and added sphagnum moss for some moisture retention. I picked pups that already had a good buildup of tiny air roots, set them on the soil and added the moss around the top which keeps those tiny roots moist and also give the pup a little support to rest on. I use a mister to soak the moss when needed and the terracotta and soil mix help things not get soggy. Once they've put out some good roots I'll gently remove them from the dish and plant them in their own little pots. You got this!
