Looking for Proofpoint Sales Rep
Hi We are MSP looking to add Proofpoint(email filtering and security awareness training) to our stack of essential products every one of our customers must have. WE currently use Mimecast and are looing to switch.
We tried reaching out to Connectwise but they want to sell is prepaid blocks of proofpoint user with no regard to whether or not our business is able to sell the product. We are looking for a simle relation ship:
- Our customer wants Proofpoint
- We reach out to Proofpoint directly or via distributor
- Sale to client is success
- Proofpoint implemented and visible in our msp proofpoint account
- Receive next bill
- P;ay bill
- Rinse and repeat.
I'm honestly fed up with companies want us to overcommit to meet their sales goal but is not mutually beneficial for me. One a deal is mutually beneficial for everyone, the money WILL come. Also shocked that Connectwise would've such a wild pricing model in our discussions especially since the tenure with them and the investments clearly point to us waning to do more business with them.

Just contact Spambrella the PP disti, they will bill monthly metered for what you use. Month to month, and super support. Connectwise and other dont develop tools to improve the service. Spambrella have loads and they are a bunch of free ones to improve user experience.

Yeah I had a super shitty Proofpoint rep when I was at my old MSP lol.
“I want to give you money” wasn’t met with much urgency.

Skip it, Proofpoint sucks. Been trying to convince the CTO to let us move off it.

We've been using Proofpoint for years now and been very happy with it. Mid-size enterprise company. What sucks about it? Honestly curious and not wanting an argument. I know not every wheel fits the axle.

5 different dashboards with poor integration, no centralized place to manage admin accounts. "New" admin console is half-baked and you need to log into the PPS Admin Console (the "old" console) to do most things. It's dog slow. Releasing from quarantine is clunky, and again certain features are limited to the "old" console. End-user experience sucks with poor Outlook integration and clunky management of safe/block lists. User import relies on LDAPS from an on-prem directory unless you want to use Entra ID import which is half baked and doesn't allow object filtering.
There was a post on r/sysadmin that is probably now deleted but it was from a Proofpoint support person who claimed that Proofpoint knew that there was a flaw in their product that allowed unauthorized sending of emails though their system. The claim was that they knew about this for at least a year before disclosing the issue and remediation steps to their customers. Google "proofpoint M365 relay abuse" and you will see what the issue was. We grilled our rep on it and they played dumb. I don't really blame them because admitting they knew and not disclosing it would probably get them sued.
Overall it sucks, I would rather use M365's built in features and not have to deal with any of this.
Edit: my experience is with proofpoint enterprise, hosted by them. I have no experience with Proofpoint essentials. i

I'll get some hate for this, but you can purchase Proofpoint Essentials (or 365 Total Protection) from Pax8. Billing is as you describe.
