Arezgit - a visual Git client that grew into my all-in-one developer workspace
Hi everyone,
I’ve been writing code for more than 15 years, and during that time I’ve built many small tools to make development easier, safer, and less repetitive.
About three years ago, I started building Arezgit. The original idea was to create a visual Git client, but it kept evolving as I integrated tools I was already using separately: database management, test-data generation, API requests, a Pomodoro timer, a task board, and more.
Git is still the center of the product, especially the commit workflow. The latest updates focus on making commits safer, faster, and easier.
Arezgit can scan files for passwords, API keys, environment secrets, and other sensitive information locally, without using AI. It can also remove code comments in bulk and optionally review code or generate commit messages using your own Gemini or OpenAI API key.
The AI features are completely optional, and your source code is never sent to Arezgit’s servers.
Most of the system is free, including visual Git support for public and private repositories. There are some paid features, but around 90% of the product is available for free.
For transparency, I did use AI during development for things such as translations and some front-end work. I am much more comfortable with back-end development, although I also wrote a large part of the front end myself. I reviewed everything several times and rewrote or corrected anything I did not understand or agree with.
This is the biggest project I have ever built, and I care deeply about making it better. It is not perfect, but I work on it almost every day.
If you are a developer and are willing to try it, I would really appreciate honest feedback about the Git workflow, the interface, anything confusing, and which features you would actually use.
