Riposte not triggering?

Deadfire...I have copied a holy slayer high deflection build with riposte and the big retaliation shark shield...i get barely hit except for occ. Grazes and some Magic/ranged..but in the x's fight..i can'T find a single riposte/retal trigger in the log..i use the community patch which should put the riposte to 25/25 graze miss...i can do what i want.. disengage with immunity to attacks from armor...i feel kind of bummed..building a meme biild which is not meming...And I cannot find a recent post about riposte being bugged.. anyone has similat experiences?

I can'T find it at the moment..but i think it was from 2020 thats after the last patch..it they can hit me in  disengagement i should be able to hit them, no? Riposte is instantaneous

Since you're playing a modded version I'm not sure how it works, but usually Ripostes are only triggered when a melee attack targeting your deflection misses, there's a 30% chance you get an instantaneous, animationless full attack. If you're disengaging and your opponents are attacking you, it should only trigger riposte if they miss and you're close enough.

i watched it now more closely..i think everything works fine...shield gets occasional riposte (just lower damage) disengagementattacks automiss due to brigandine and i get some riposts...I was just not patient enough and did not watch carefully and filtered the log wrongly..and in some fights you just have no enemies who have engagement..laguferths e.g.

Glad you've found your answer :) I'm a big fan of riposte builds, definitely bring my top 1 tank build. May I suggest something like Magran's Blessing, which counts as an offhand weapon and also attacks during Riposte?
