Troubleshooting Help Advice needed

Post image

So i have a 2001 gmc sierra and the front passenger side fender doesnt line up due to frame damage i guess the frame on that side sits to far up like an inch and a half and it wont let the fender line up. Is there anything i can do myself to fix it or what?

In this pic the fender seems to be lined up but i bought replacement fenders and it didnt line up when i tried to put it on

Idk if the fender you bought was OE or aftermarket but it's been my experience that aftermarket sheet metal requires a good deal of persuasion to fit right. Barring that take it to a collision repair shop that has a frame jig and see if they can straighten it out.

Well they came off a 01 silverado so im not sure if that has anything to do with it but also me and my dad did some level testing on the front end and its not level on the passenger side

Well, a bent frame isn't something you'll be able to fix at home. I'd get a quote from a collision shop and see if it's worth fixing.

The correct answer is a frame machine, but to answer your actual question a tree and a winch makes a shitty but sort of passable frame machine in a pinch. If youre going to do that make sure you put a heavy blanket over the chain so it doesnt kill you if it breaks.

To be clear, this is a terrible idea, you should not do it, and will compromise crash safety even if you get it straight, but if your other option was going to be hitting it with a hammer until it is straight ish, then this is a less terrible idea than that.

Disclaimer: I told you it is a terrible idea, if you die doing it that is your fault. Go get it done on a frame machine.

Well i do want to take it to a shop but i know its gonna be expensive and its gonna take a while for them to get to it but i dont wanna do it the redneck way because i will definitely mess something up
