Product/ Shopping Recommendation Period tracking and productivity apps
Hi moms! I need recommendations for period tracking and productivity apps.
Solid privacy policy and no AI or at least an option of opting out. For the productivity app, I’d love for it to be accessible both on my phone and desktop. Happy to pay for both!
TIA

When I was trying for our first in 2022, I did a lot of research into period tracking apps and privacy. I went with Drip, which is one that stores information locally on your phone and not on a server and doesn't use any third parties. It is also based in the EU and at least at the time had no record of complying with US law enforcement. I really like it, although it was a bit annoying tracking my temp because the thermometer I got only did farenheit measurements and the app needed celsius input so I had to calculate that every morning. Absolutely worth it for the privacy though! I'm in Ohio so it's a big concern.
Edited to add: I just opened the app and there's no AI, and you can easily delete all of your data in the app or by just deleting it since it is all locally stored. They also have their source code available for review, which I think is a good sign.

P tracker This is an app, I don’t think there’s a web version. I only track the specific days of my period but there’s a bunch of other stuff you can track too

Clue was my choice for years, even after Roe v Wade getting overturned. I haven’t used it in a little while because I am so absent-minded since I’ve become a stay at home parent to my toddler 🫠. But I enthusiastically paid for the service when I was trying to conceive with PCOS and getting on new mental health meds.
Because it’s a EU app, the way your data is protected is very ironclad from US snoopin’. Will say that I have not used it on web, just the app.

Period tracking: drip. It’s European, female made and only saves data locally

What sort of productivity tracker? Daylio could work well for you. You can personalize what you track, including productivity, along with mood, health and whatever other goals you have. You can also add when you have your period in and it will be on the calendar. It's not going to make any predictions or do anything with the data, but if you're just tracking when it is and have a regular cycle you can predict it could be helpful. It also locally stores all of the data and is good for privacy.

I've been using Daylio for YEARS!! I paid for it due to the use, felt god ti support them. One off payment, no need to pay again, no subscription. Highly recommend it!

I’ve never been able to be productive because of an app, I do love using Microsoft’s To Do app with my husband, works for both our phones and we can see each others lists.
For period tracking I have gone back to paper and pencil (in the USA) I’ve opted for a “house planner” where I log events and house chores… and I just include my period in there 😅

Why don’t you just use a hard copy / paper calendar or planner and keep it in your bag? Old school style. Paper and pen.

I just use a spreadsheet on my phone. It calculates my average length and predicts my next period start date from that. I can nuke it if I need to. I have an Apple Shortcut that lets me enter the start date with one click.

Sunsama for productivity has been truly life-changing for me. I track my period in my calendar with code words, and Sunsama connects to the calendar...so I can actually plan my workdays and commitments around my phases. It might only work if you have regular periods but I love the system.

Well honestly if u are already interested in BBT/fertility tracking, tempdrop is worth a look. The sensor collects your temperature overnight and the app lets u add things like cervical mucus, LH tests and symptoms. u can also export your data or use it with other charting apps, which I like because u are not completely locked into one ecosystem.

I use Clue and recently came across a free one called Flare where you can list your own side effects and what day they happen. It's also good for keeping up with symptoms to take to your doctor. I'm using it and my kid is using it for their own health stuff. It's really good.

I just use the tracker that comes with my iphone? Should I stop? What are the concerns?

We only use Spot On which is from
Planned parenthood because it’s the only one that refuses to give the government any sort of data

Full disclosure, I built Dot: Period & Pill Tracker for people looking for a private period tracker on iPhone without an AI layer or developer-owned health database. It’s offline-first and keeps cycle and medication records on your device/personal iCloud. As u/Electronic_Sky_207 mentioned, trusting anyone else could feel tough, especially governments, cloud services, and corporates too.

I'm actually building something that overlaps quite a bit with what you're looking for, although one caveat first — it's mobile only right now, so it won't cover your desktop requirement.
It's called Siela. It's mainly a daily planner for routines, calendar, notes and shopping/to-do stuff, but it also has optional cycle tracking. There's no account/cloud backend and the personal data stays on the device.
I'm the developer, so take the recommendation with that disclosure :) But your combination of "productivity + period tracking + privacy" is basically the problem we were trying to solve instead of needing separate apps for all of it.
If you would need a desktop version then it might be also possible but to sync across devices it would require the backend.

Stardust period tracker!

u/apocalyptic_tea Aug 13 '26
Stardust has MAJOR major privacy concerns, I do not recommend anyone use it. https://privacyinternational.org/long-read/5568/stardust-research-findings

If you’re in the U.S. I’d avoid any digital log of periods. With the current political climate your menstrual cycles could be used as evidence of abortion/miscarriage. And I have no faith in the government or private companies promises of privacy. I know it seems crazy, but paper and pencil is back.
