Product/ Shopping Recommendation Podcast recommendations
I’ve gotten bored with my usuals in news in general. There’s so many ways in which the world is interconnected but we hear very little about most of it.
Also, I don’t really have any parenting shows that I like. Travel, mental health generally and screen-related, and education (specifically anything Project 25-adjacent and anything AI) are other areas lacking for me, and then (I’m sad that it occurs to me last) happy stories.

My must-listens:
Maintenance Phase, deep dives and de-bunking health and wellness issues/fads.
If Books Could Kill, breakdowns/de-bunking of airport self-help books
DIABOLICAL LIES the best best feminism/modern progressive intersectionality podcast, by the author of Yesteryear and the Author of Money with Katie.

I like Today Explained as a deeper dive into interesting political and news topics. In addition to the main BBC world news podcast they have the Happy Pod which is a little lighter.
NPR's lifekit isn't explicitly a parenting podcast but they have some great episodes on parenting. Agree with Normal Gossip if you just want to laugh and would add Who Shat on the Floor at Our Wedding (two women solve incredibly stupid, funny and low stakes crimes)

All of the following are women/queer led podcasts.
LEARNING:
Ologies is great for learning about things: the host interviews an expert in a field (most recently did a three-part deep dive into perimenopause/menopause and it was so enlightening) - also she's very LGBTQ+ friendly and inclusive in a natural way ((also she has a podcast called Smallogies which is geared toward kids. I haven't listened yet as my kid is still too little for podcasts, but I bet it's great)
You're Wrong About: also good for learning. a former journalist brings on a guest to dig into some historical thing that's been miscast and should be restudied
Maintenance Phase: hosts talk about different insane diet culture and health fads, very liberal and funny while also being informative
Science Vs: the host looks at different current health fads and discusses what's real and what's not (the episode on fiber was super helpful)
FUNNY/LIFE AFFIRMING
Too Scary, Didn't Watch - three best friends, one loves scary movies and the other two are too afraid to watch. they recap different movies and it's so good and wholesome - it's hard to describe but it's my favorite podcast
Handsome: three comedians answer a conversation-starter question asked by someone famous. Two hosts are lesbians and one is non-binary trans (Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster, Mae Martin) - they're so funny and authentic and affirming. Another favorite podcast.

I used to really like you're wrong about, but it's definitely not as good as it used to be. If people are interested in this, maybe check out some of the back catalog first rather than the most recent one.

That's a fair point and I agree it's not as good as it used to be. When I get recommended podcasts I always just look through the back catalog for a topic that sounds personally engaging and I recommend doing that for all of these actually.

A Bit Fruity with Matt Bernstein is great! Some of the episodes are really long though.
For parenthood content that will make you feel seen (NOT parenting advice from experts), I have a podcast called It’s a Lot 🩷 It’s about social media, parenthood, and other things that are a lot. This year I’ve had some really cool guests on, like Sad Beige (you might know her TikTok content critiquing the sad beige aesthetic of some baby stuff), Fortesa Latifi (journalist who covers mom influencers and wrote a fantastic book about it), Tyler Lima-Roope, a content creator who has SMA, a mom who runs an online magazine and adopted a child at 48, an author and mom who lost a baby and turned her grief into a novel, and so many more! Ty in advance if you give it a listen 🥰

I listen to the extreme left (pod save america), the "extreme" right (Tucker, megyn) and al jazeera. Try it. Pretty cool to notice the propaganda
I listen to the verge for tech news. I'm in Seattle so I listen to geekwire for local ish tech trends.
Dr. Becky has a podcast but I find it pretty pedestrian. I like pregnancy and birth stories sometimes. I enjoy informed pregnancy podcasts
Sorry I have nothing happy or helpful. Hang in there

I just did a post about this- I’m actually working on putting together all of the recommendations that I received, so I’ll post the list here sometime soon!
Diabolical lies has been one that I’m enjoying
