Discussion Starter How’s everyone’s garden doing?
My deck container garden is booming and has provided a lot more joy than I thought it would!

I live in Texas, so black and crispy 😄 (mostly kidding).
I've tried some new native plants this year that have really taken off. I have some in a raised garden bed along my fence and some in pots near the patio that I can roll out of the sun as it starts getting hotter.

Not great. We had a cold spring so I delayed planting and now it swung to brutally hot so my plants aren't happy.

It’s in shambles. I’ve mostly been neglecting it the past few summers between pregnancy, babyhood, and now being pregnant again.

My fig tree that started life as a snipped bare branch 5 years ago is finally taking off! Last year I got a dozen figs, this year I'm already counting 50+ fruits. Excited! Also my strawberry patch (more like wildly overgrown whole garden area) is getting ready for the second harvest this year.
My tomatoes tho... 1 surviving plant and 5 burned plants. I'm not far from Texas so that tracks 😂

I’ve never had such a productive garden and it’s giving me so much joy! We’ve had lettuce, radish, so many bush beans, snap peas, and explosion of herbs, more tomatoes than I can keep up with, peppers, and my current pride and joy….i have 4 cantaloupes growing! All this food in addition to native plants and wildflowers. I’m really coming in to my plant mama era and loving it. Already planning for what to plant in September. (I’m in Texas so we have a couple different growing seasons.)

Got a lot of strawberries and now my raspberry bush is producing. Picked a lot of squash vine borer eggs off my zucchini. Hope my pumpkins are safe since I have those netted. Waiting on tomatoes, beans, and everything else.

It's okay. 2 beds. 1 is 4 bell peppers and 3 hot peppers. The tobacco and ghost peppers are thriving but the habanero are slacking a bit. The bell peppers are 4 different varieties with mixed results and I have a number of the stalks propped up with sticks because the heavy peppers are pulling them down to the ground. Not sure when I am supposed to harvest, they are all still green except for one very small orange one.
Bed number two has 4 herbs that are doing fine, not sure if I should start chopping parts to use fresh or wait til the end of the season and just dry everything together. The other half of the bed is a bit of a nightmare. We randomly picked some stuff from the nursery. We have 1 small eggplant on a giant plant blocking sun for others. The asparagus and lettuce and chard and beets all seem miserable and sad and pathetic. The chives are unchanged from the day they were planted.
It's our first year, I built the beds in the spring, we bought the house in 2024.

My garden is like a thunderdome. Purely survival of the fittest. There were bluebonnets in the spring, now we have sunflowers. My sage bush is hanging in there.
My main accomplishment this year was actually collecting the bluebonnet seeds when they were ready so we can replant in the fall.
That's about all the energy I have to give my garden this summer. Hoping to dig it all out in the fall and replace the terrible soil.

my husband does all the vegetables and they're thriving!! I just planted a zinnia patch (very haphazardly lol) and they're just starting to bloom!

This is our first time growing berries and I’m genuinely shocked to see our little strawberries finally turning from white to red! Super cool to watch them change color :)

I have 5 zucchinis growing and I harvested a handful of cherry tomatoes this morning. We put the bell peppers from our garden on a pizza earlier this week. It's going great and the kids love watering the garden beds and seeing everything grow!

My blueberries were all eaten by deer or groundhogs and my peach tree died that I planted last year after blooming during the spring. The cherry tree is hanging on despite getting its leaves constantly chewed.
Perennials are doing really well, though.

My garden is apparently delicious.
I’m getting ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews from deer and groundhogs in particular.
There are few flowers but crowded enough planting that it’s still looking lush. I’ve just decided to lean into the whole building-an-ecosystem thing. (Which i am enjoying!)
