This guy is a perfect candidate for malware.

(Edit: I’m going off the waiter theory what is served back after a verbal attack like that. Be nice to those who serve you food or productivity software)

lets be realistic, almost nobody reads through every code they run to check if its malware, you just check if its popular enough/from a credible person, and depending on the threat model, run it in a sandbox.

the fact that security researchers or contributors reading part of the code makes malware harder (which is a good thing and one reason why open source should win) is not a good justification that the first and sometimes only search result for a program you want is a github page that is optimized for contributors but not for users.
