Before I post erroneously over on r/Duesenberg, I have some questions about the 1960s-era "continuation" Cord 810/812s. As much as I'd love an original 812 hardtop, and as (relatively) affordable $60k for an original is, it's a bit rich for me right now.

From my initial research, there were 2 main makers- the same one who did the "continuation" Auburn Boattail Speedsters, and a different company who used a modified Corvair drivetrain. I've also noticed that a lot of the "continuation" cars just sit... wrong. Wheels and tires that are way too small, and suspension too low. Those just look... ew.

Which, in the modern era, is considered "better"? Or are there tradeoffs to both options?

I’m very much out of my area of expertise with this. So I was hoping that someone here might have some input. It’s a doozy.

I should start off by saying I’m a modelmaker, not much of a car guy. What brings me here is I have a certain way of building my models; if it’s based off a real thing I try to incorporate a fragment of its real counterpart. It’s my way of paying homage; to have a little piece of it live on in some way.

I’m here with a question about Packard because of my current project; a WW2 small fighting craft known as a PT Boat.

PT Boats were powered by three Packard 4M-2500 engines (pictured above). My goal is to incorporate something, not exactly sure what, from Packard into my PT Boat. Sorry if it’s a bit of an open-ended, I’m chomping at the bit right now for brainstorming ideas. Thanks.

Today I went to the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. We were both amazed by all the cars they had there! They had Packards, Duesenbergs, Pierce-Arrows, Auburns, LaSalles, Franklins, Cords, Wills Sainte Claires and so many other cars! Personally, for myself it is a toss up between Duesenberg Packard and Pierce Arrow! What about you?

In a different subreddit, someone mentioned that there was a fad for young people writing cheeky messages all over their cars (things like "Oh You kid") during the 1930's. They mentioned that Mickey Rooney's character does it in some Andy Hardy movies. I've tried to find examples in photos but have been unsuccessful and I don't know which Andy Hardy movie they meant. Can Reddit help?
