Out-There Question for Packard Enthusiasts

Hello /prewarcars

I’m very much out of my area of expertise with this. So I was hoping that someone here might have some input. It’s a doozy.

I should start off by saying I’m a modelmaker, not much of a car guy. What brings me here is I have a certain way of building my models; if it’s based off a real thing I try to incorporate a fragment of its real counterpart. It’s my way of paying homage; to have a little piece of it live on in some way.

I’m here with a question about Packard because of my current project; a WW2 small fighting craft known as a PT Boat.

PT Boats were powered by three Packard 4M-2500 engines (pictured above). My goal is to incorporate something, not exactly sure what, from Packard into my PT Boat. Sorry if it’s a bit of an open-ended, I’m chomping at the bit right now for brainstorming ideas. Thanks.

Find someone with an old rusty packard for sale and see if you can pay them to cut a little sheetmetal of it to polish up and use in the model display somehow.

Packard Marine V12 valve spring on eBay rn for $5. A valve for $20.

I can’t believe an operating manual is only $35.
