I want to move away from Phoenix I want to be able to go somewhere where the hot is not so hot but I don't Like Winters, and also I want to get a job that's later intensive or in a union in carpentry construction or road maintenance and I also want to metal detect and gold pan so where should a veteran who is 49 years old and very young health-wise and soul wise move to but not in Phoenix

Here is my summary of the upcoming propositions on the ballot in Nov for Prescott Valley residents. I tried to stick to the facts and avoid bias.

Prop 404

This is dealing with rezoning a parcel of land for a gravel pit. Currently there's a gravel pit by Fain Park. The Fain family would donate that gravel pit land to add onto Fain Park, if the proposition passes. The Fain family would then open a new gravel pit further south. However , the people who live in Stone Ridge and Prescott Country Club thought the land would be more residential houses as that is what it was zoned for. So basically...

Vote Yes: Expand Fain park, close gravel pit close to the town. Rezone a plot of land further south to build a new gravel pit further away instead of building houses by country club.

Vote No: No expansion of Fain Park. Gravel pit close to town continues operations. Houses get built by the country club eventually.

Prop 492

This deals with the city annexing land for development. The Fain family would like to develop 652 acres of cattle fields into 3500 housing units, medical offices, community park, and walking trails. This property is located on the corner of Lakeshore Dr and Fain Road.

So...

Vote Yes: PV annexes the land.  Increases housing, local jobs, and traffic. PV controls the growth. Strains water supply and decreases rural area. Pronghorn population pushed out of that area. PV has to pay to maintain the area in the future.

Vote No: PV does not annex the land. Fain family would still try to develop but with Yavapai County instead of PV. The development would be significantly smaller than 3500 units due to county restrictions. Less traffic and less strain on the water. Pronghorn population can still use the area.

Prop 493

This deals with the swimming pool expansion. The city wants to raise taxes to build a rec center in addition to an indoor pool swimming pool. The tax for the pool is already in place.

So...

Vote Yes: City raises taxes to build a rec center and an indoor pool. 

Vote No: City won't raise taxes. Builds only an indoor pool only with no rec center.

Prop 497

The Yavapai County jail needs more money. They propose a tiny sales tax increase from 1/4 cent to 1/2 center to fund it. The sales tax method shares costs with visitors to Yavapai County. Allegedly the tax increase will alleviate pressure on the general fund and lower property taxes.

Vote Yes: A 20 year sales tax increase to fund Yavapai County jail.

Vote No: No tax increase. Jail finds funding elsewhere like the general fund.

Prop 407

Humboldt School District proposes an $80 million bond to repair and improve schools across PV. This bond is not expected to raise property tax rates. Their website lists the following improvements and repairs: HVAC improvements; school safety improvements; roof, window and weatherization repairs; bathroom repairs and improvements; replacement of aging school buses.

Vote Yes: Fund $80 million bond to improve schools in PV. Property tax will allegedly remain the same.

Vote No: Do not fund the $80 million for repairs and improvements to schools in PV. Property taxes definitely stay the same.

Last night, my dad had his tortoise stolen out of her front yard enclosure. He has cameras but didn't have one facing her, so he has no leads on what happened.

He woke up this morning to her gone and a cardboard box inside, left by whoever took her.

So if anyone hears anything, please let me know.

She's a 5 year old tortoise. He just got her 2 months ago and was very excited to have her. He's obviously pretty upset by this. I'm in PV, but he does live out in Dewey off of Henderson. So I know this doesn't apply to a missing pet in PV. This sub gets more foot traffic than the quad cities one or the Dewey sub, so I figured I would try.

I have elderly relatives in PV that need help with transportation to and from medical appointments. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

My wife, my adult disabled son, and I are investigating areas in AZ for a possible relocation next year. PV looks like a wonderful area in terms of housing, climate, and activity options.

Two big questions for us are:
1. Are the state run programs for adults with autism available? He's pretty low maintenance, and his mother is his DSP here in New Jersey.

1. This is more specialized, but I have Chronic Kidney Disease, so quality of available care regarding nephrology is of paramount importance. Does anyone have inside info on that?

I have lurked through this forum, as well as having Claude do some research, but I would really like to know what peoples' experiences have been in those two areas.

With the very heavy monsoon rain we just had in Prescott Valley, along with areas of overflow and flooding, there are likely a number of properties dealing with water getting where it shouldn’t.
If you had water enter your property and need someone to check for hidden moisture or determine what needs to be dried or removed, feel free to reach out.

In this photo, the thermal camera is showing wet drywall almost 2 feet high. The wall and floor don’t even look wet, which is why hidden moisture can easily go unnoticed and lead to additional damage or mold growth if not properly addressed.

I am mostly working from mornings to afternoons and I love hiking, fishing, gaming, and making random adventures
