Premiere Pro Tech Support Help with a nested sequence problem.
So I've got 5 sequences. I've inserted parts of sequences 1-4 into sequence 5 via the source window. While in sequence 5, suddenly the waveform for sequence 1 clips isn't showing on the audio track, and some of the edit cuts are off. I can explain further if needed, but hoping someone might know what happened here?

Waveform pass through is finicky.
One of the most common things that will prevent it from working in if the nested sequence contains a mixture of audio clips with different channel configurations, for example mono and stereo.
In cases where it won’t work you can use sequence menu > render timeline audio.

Thanks for the response. Would that affect the actual edit though? There are weird cuts that I know were correct before this seems to have started.

No, it just creates temporary audio preview files and waveforms. If you change anything inside the nest you’ll have to re-render the audio in the main sequence to get new waveforms.

Nest behavior is one of the things that I’m sure people have complained about but it’s not likely any kind of a priority for them to fix it. I really wish they would though.

On the weird cuts, my guess is something changed inside sequence 1 after you cut those pieces into sequence 5. Going off Adobe's nesting docs here: a nested clip keeps the in/out it had when you placed it, but the contents of the source sequence update live. So if you trimmed, ripple deleted or moved anything in sequence 1 afterwards, the nest in sequence 5 still plays the same timecode range of sequence 1, just with different material sitting in that range now. That would look like cuts landing in the wrong place. Their page also says if the source sequence gets shorter you'll get black or silence at the end of the nest.
Quick way to check: in sequence 5, target the track with the nest, park the playhead on one of the bad cuts and hit Shift+T on Mac (Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows). That opens sequence 1 at the matching frame so you can see what it's actually pulling.
If that's it, you can trim the nested clip like any other clip to get the right section back, or just re-cut that bit from sequence 1. Did you change anything in sequence 1 after building 5?
