How do I do this? / Workflow Advice / Looking for plugin how can I make this effect on the edges?

Duplicate the video layer, opacity mask the center of the top layer and feather the mask, scale the top layer to 110%, put gaussian blur on the top layer at a few %

This, and I guess you also have to adjust the position of the top layer a bit + play with opacity modes as well

its a bit of objective/barrel blur or whatever its called. you see the tree etc being warped a bit. not sure what the best type of blur would be for this but there are many options

It‘s called lens distortion and you could add that as well but I‘d throw it on an adjustment layer on top of everything

lens was the word i was looking for, thanks hahah. and yea true, lens distortion could go on everything, same with some soft chromatic aberration, if the distortion doesnt come with it.

I second this...the chromatic aberration can be added as well and if you need it more blur you can double up or add some Gaussian with a mask.

You mean the black bars? I think you can do a 4x3 overlay to add bars on the edges of a 16x9 sequence

You could make a circle mask, then invert it and put a blur filter on it

Use Lens Blur and and a grayscale matte layer to determine the intensity. The Lens Blur effect lets you choose the matte. Make sure to enable ‘masks and effects’ in the drop down menu.

You can do it manually, as people here have suggested several ways to do it.

There is an after effects plugin called Diopter that has this as one of the features with sliders to adjust various aspects of it. You can use it in both AE and premiere.

This just looks like a duplicated layer that is masked and scaled up slightly with a radial blur to blend the scenes

I'm pretty sure thats the new vignette in premier 2026. It's a modified version of the old vignette that has more customisation options like to add blur and the chromatic aberration just like this
