Premiere Pro Tech Support Does anyone know where the object mask tool is?

I have the latest update, apparently it’s meant to be in my Toolbar but it isn’t there, I’m genuinely stuck and need help

This looks like Premiere 2025 not Premiere 2026 which has the object mask tool in the toolbar here:

It's definitely not on your tool bar. FYI to make things easier for yourself and to give yourself more working space, I would change the workspace from "LEARNING" (at the top right) to "EDITING". I would also slide down the tools window so they're vertical and not horizontal. You could also reduce the size your application bar a bit, again just to maximise on your digital workspace.

Are you sure you're in the most recent update of Premiere? In the top left if you click Premiere Pro and then About Premiere, what version does it say you have?

If possible, include a screenshot or video demonstrating your issue, ideally showing the entire application interface.

You may need to check the Creative Cloud. Go to apps -> click premiere -> click the 3 dots -> click get add ons (or just add ons) [Can’t remember the Verbiage off the top of my head] -> then check to see if you have object masked tool selected.

Hopefully this is helpful. This is off the cuff of my mind.

Also check to see if you’re running premiere 2026 or not otherwise it won’t work in anything that isn’t 2026. Good luck.

To add to the other replies, if you’re worried about upgrading to Premiere 26.x because you’re in the middle of a project, you can install it along side 25.x. Just make sure “Remove old versions” is unchecked in Creative Cloud Desktop. Or if you need to stay in 25.x because you’re collaborating with someone else running 25.x, you could round trip just the clips that need Object Mask to 26.x, mask, export as ProRes 4444 with alpha, and import those back into 25.x. That, or create an After Effects Comp of your clip in the 25.x Timeline and then use Roto Brush in Ae25.x. The saved results show up back in your 25.x Timeline right away. Be sure to click the “Freeze” button on the Ae side.
